Just a note on this job, make sure the breather pipes are clear, the holes for them are very small. Stick a paper clip or toothpick through them and clean them up otherwise your covers will leak again in no time due to the excess pressure in the valve covers!
I am doing this job now. I found the MB black sealant almost impossible to use with the included black push piece. The product was dated 2/2021 so should be OK. I decided to use a caulking gun and was then able to use the sealant. The breather covers now use stainless steel screws. The old style aluminum screws have been superseded.
Yes I found the same problem with the sealant it was so hard to squeeze out! I guess its a good thing that its thick, but then I saw another video of someone using a caulking gun so I think that's what we are supposed to do. I believe my new screws were aluminium from FCP but good to know they have been superseded now. Best thing to do is to get a torque wrench and make sure you are not over torquing the bolts.
Hey man great work! Did you replace the valve cover screws??
(Not the breather cover)
Nope didn't need to replace those
I will be attempting my first DIY engine work while using this video . Wish me luck!
Good luck! Its not too difficult, just be really patient and take your time

Also add a small bit of sealant to each corner on the cresents of the valve covers, these corners can seep oil if this is not done
Nice one! I used a wooden toothpick to remove the RTV. I wish this video was around before I did mine as it took me a while.
I started doing the same but had a brain wave 😂 hope it helps other people 😊

I use brake cleaner to clean valve cover.
Yes good option as well!
