TL;DR, subscription features are BS.
all that gloss black on the outside of the vehicle won't last a week in NOLA. Rims look SAF. And instead of focusing on being the flashiest and most futuristic, can we get KIA and Hyundai to simply not blow up or have the engines catch on fire???
How does it look like a Telluride? I think the Telluride's interior is a lot softer and nicer. But the EV9's is shown in a boring gray and not in a warm cream or brown color. I'll see it in the metal on Saturday at the NY auto show. Here it looks big and bulky for a BEV. But it is a 3 row crossover.
If Kia can maintain reliability, it will be the new Toyota in 10 years. Toyota is too busy standing on the stoop saying get off my lawn. No issue with Kia charging (see what I did there) for more power. Manufacturers have been doing that forever.
Not true about Toyota. While I think Kia/Hyundai can grow and perhaps overtake Toyota, Toyota is not standing on anyone's stoop resting on their laurels A lot of people put down hydrogen but Toyota sees a future in it and are investing some of their efforts into it in the form of FCEVs and fuel. They're investing on making cleaner fuel for existing cars. They've invested in steer by wire tech and other useful tech for cars. They are investing in getting higher range in PHEVs. And they just announced last week that they're going to introduce a new BEV platform in 2026 and will have 10 BEVs built by 2026 on the current e-TNGA platform. They're restructuring both their business and some of their suppliers and the relationship of how they deal with one another. Toyota is still in far more markets than other manufacturers as well. So sitting still is not what they're doing.
I'm starting to see more manufacturers offer these low "horse power" single motor models. Why? These vehicles are fairly heavy. In this case, you probably have an almost 3 ton vehicle with just over 200 horsepower. You can at least give it more horsepower than the current gas model. The current gas model 0-60 is faster than the electric! I would want some type of performance increase in the single motor option.
Basically, if you invest the money in a vehicle and there is actually disabled feature hardware there that can be turned on if I pay more...No! I already bought the hardware with the car and that is a huge rip-off. If it is something like, hey here is a new set up apps and digital features that you get can in a package that is paid yearly or monthly, then sure. In other words, for small quality of life features it seems like a valid pay as you go thing. But if the car comes with a bunch of disabled hardware (example: seat warmers) and I have to pay for them to work, then I would run away from that and buy another car from another manufacturer.
That's got to be the ugliest POS oversized electric golf cart I've ever seen! I hope the citizens of the U.S. say NO to all these electric vehicles, by NOT buying them! Gasoline rules!
Subscriptions to "unlock" features that already present and existing on the vehicle is pretty much the definition of extortion, and is a pretty disgusting move on Kia's part. That alone is enough to keep me from buying the vehicle altogether. Shame too, this was going to be my next.
I don't find this to be the styling hit others do. I think other Kias (and Hyundais) have a more interesting exterior and interior design. But it may look better in the metal than in photos.
I would have expected a more professional presenter from a KBB video. Either way, the vehicle looks neat and would have been cool to see it if the battery wasn’t dead.
No one on Earth needs acceleration faster than 0 to 60 in 10 seconds. What is needed is a 500-mile range and much lower battery costs and far less toxic battery production pollution.
I'd say 6 to 7 seconds is enough. I don't get all this emphasis on 0-60. I actually don't care all that much about it. From say 20-65 useful acceleration is the way most of us use cars (merging onto the highway) or maybe overtaking some truck so higher speed acceleration. That's it. And who needs performance SUVs (really crossovers)? BEVs, IMO, need to be lower and smaller. This, the Rivian, the Volvo EX90 shown, all are too high up and would get better range if they were lower and had smaller tires.18 to 19 inch tires are big enough IMO and not these silly 20 inch plus tires that reduce range.
Not to mention that these ELECTRIC vehicles will be charged, from energy gotten from coal. And, on top of that...the U.S. would still be dependent on other countries to make these batteries. No thanks!
Fast overtaking is a must. Midrange is where it’s at for me when choosing a car. When stuck behind someone doing 35mph in a 60 limit I want to get past them quickly and safely. The Tesla MY ticks most boxes but is utter crap with its Tesla vision. It’s useless at night and bad during the day.
@@benbeadle632 OK, so then measure overtaking speeds. I do agree good overtaking speeds are useful.
