I hope so too! I love hanafuda
I forget how hanafuda is played, but I know it made sense at the time and was incredibly fun to watch.
Arin always loses Chess cause he takes it way too seriously. Dan’s just playing Chess while Arin’s playing out every possible move in his head and treats it as if Dan is sacrificing his children if he loses.
Man, Arin must be a Archeops , because his ability is Defeatist.
I can relate
Deep cut 👁👄👁👍 congrats from a pokemon fan
@7:30 The thought popped into my head, *_"I want to think this is like a chess match to determine who gets to return to the world of the living and escape the infernal torment that is the hellscape of the Underworld;"_* then, lo and behold, thirty seconds later, *Dan: **_"I feel like we're playing for our souls right now."_*
I thought of the animaniacs episode of when they played checkers for their lives. Arin matches up the "chess is unknown to us" line
"I'm gonna chess the shit outta you, Arin." *Dan said calmly*
Ah yes. The annual "Arin screams at Dan while he quietly watches in terror as they play chess" episode 😌
Arin starter pack: Chess edition
-full of spirit before a game
-full of regret after a game
-enjoying chess, then hating chess
-rage whenever dan touches a piece
-eternal self-hatred when you screw up
-act unnecessary douchey when you make a good move
"I'm gonna chess the shit outta you, Arin" really got me
Dan: I've probably played chess against a few hundred people in my life and and I don't know if I've played someone any more up in their head and emotional than you.
Arin: Every move is like a shot to the heart!
I love how this game makes you so comfortable even when you set it in the deepest effin dungeons of Mt doom
Dan: I'm going to take a relaxing sip of Dr pepper :)
My head phones: EXPLODES
"Who could think mathematically at a time Like this all my pieces are gonna die" oh man arin makes the best word noises. The only man I enjoy to watch play casual boardgames.
When Dan is able to dominate twice in the same game, that’s pretty impressive
I feel bad for Arin, he knows that every move he makes is gonna be scrutinized by the youtube comments and everyones gonna call him dumb or whatever and that background stress is killing him. I get that he can be dense sometimes but I can get why he takes these games so seriously unlike Dan who's just vibing because he doesn't stake his career on being good at games.
39:00 *angelic music plays* "IHM OVERHERE FARDING AND SHIDDING"
"I'm not better than you" Dan says as he beats you effortlessly.
"95% of players are better than me" Dan says as he's proving you're the 5%.
Arin is just studying Dan so he can assure his victory next time.
That's what he tells himself
I feel getting irrationally upset at chess. I can't think that far ahead in time, I can't strategize like that. So much pressure lol
These two have never had a stronger big brother-little brother vibe than in this video
"How could I be mathematical at a time like this? All my pieces are gonna die!" The words of a poet
17:18 You can hear Dan getting ready to say something, but stopping...not wanting to ruin this clear downward spiral into a rant.
They need to have a Guest Grumps episode where they find someone highly skilled at Chess, and have them face off against Dan, so we can see just where he stands in the game
I guess he's between 1000 and 1200, but it's hard to tell because he doesn't really take these seriously and Arin doesn't force him to come up with hard moves.
This is the most haunted game of chess ever. Heard the audio and thought I was watching dark souls
Love to see Arin rage over a round of chess he probably suggested himself
The king of rematches, and that king is in check
"Blood and cream is what I hope to gain in all of my days on this Earth." -Arin Hanson, either the end of 2021 or the beginning of 2022
I feel like Arin can really improve with something like a 20 minute timer, just so he doesn't burn out his thinking early game (or he'll just time out, probably).
That’s a somewhat obscure Rick Astley tune Arin is singing to himself at the beginning there
Arin plays chess like an ace attorney character
"If fighting is sure to result in victory, then you must fight."
Shang Thsung, Mortal Kombat-1992
I've never heard such despair and anguish in such a man over a single match of chess.
"It's just thought. It's just calm, mathematical thought."
"Who can think mathematically about this? All my pieces are gonna die!"
The beautiful haunting melodies of the angelic choir goes well with Arin's hopes for ever winning at chess.😓
I love the sad music when arin starts to get angry really makes it sound like a main character monologue
Always love when they play chess, the best rage and improv moments come from Arin 🤣
I don't think I've gotten worse second hand depression than watching Arin blunder his bishops like that. That was a brutal game
Arin playing chess is like watching a mental breakdown in real time. Relax man.
At 8:35 Dan becomes Tina Beltcher
