Yup that's what is really keeping me from playing BG3, the combat, I'm not really a fan of those kinds of games but I want to experience its story so bad lol.
13:02 Quick note on the border gaurd not letting you through if you are a human. Remember the quest in Vernworth that tells you to "confront your pursuer"? If you tackle the man in the brown clothes and hood, he will ask you to release him. Refuse to release him and fight him till he has about 1/3rd of his health. Brant (the captain) will break up the fight and take him captive. After that, the quests completes itself and Brant will now give you a Merchant Border Pass instead of the Beastren Border Pass he gives you normally, letting you freely pass the gate as a human.
You can also get to Battahl any time via Guerco Cavern. It's a very long walk though, with lots of ways to get lost and some very strong enemies. I wanted Mystic Archer and Wayfarer as soon as I could get them, and it took probably longer than doing it the intended way lol.
I absolutely adore DDA, I have to disagree with you on its story. Its honestly quite creative and interesting, the problem is much like in FROMSOFT games you need to go searching for it if youre interested in really delving into lore and story. The way they go about telling the story is bad, but the story itself is good if that makes sense?
The biggest issue with this games release is not the performance, not the MTX, not the fact that theres not enough goddamn fast travel access - its that capcom didnt respect hideki and his team enough to give them the floor to truly finish this masterpiece. it feels rushed, unfinished, and under utilized. There's so much content there, just so little to fill it, but because Capcom treated it as a "pet project" waiting ~10 years to give them the go ahead and pressured for Q1 financial release, while slapping everyone (devs and gamers alike) with MTX just to squeeze out a couple more dollars b4 the end of Q1, this game was spat on and treated as a joke on release and its just so upsetting, especially when the mechanics and world building is there just missing a couple of points.
Hey man, your comments at the end of the video really touched me. I love ur videos and hope you not only continue to do them but find the success you deserve. The platform needs more creators like you :)
I hired an archer pawn. She claimed to know a faster way to the Oracle in northern Battahl. She, as well as the three other pawns, proceeded to fall off every cliff on the down to the main road we were already taking. I mean the gameplay is bad, but there are times I really enjoy it.
My biggest disagreement in this is that you are anti fast travel. The game would be far less interesting with fast travel. This game has plenty of ways to skip around and finding those ways are actually rewarding because of it. And I think traversal while there is always room for improvement is actually very good.
2:56 - Dude: THEY. KEPT. THE. PAWNS! BUT. REMOVED. ASSASSIN!!! Got rid of the annoying shit... right. That's why you need Aphonite on ALL THREE PAWNS to get peace and quiet. Also - DD1 = You gain rank 9 skill in ANY vocation (and can unlock EVERY vocation by LEVEL 10) you INSTANTLY get access to the best skill it has; you just need to BUY it with DCP. DD2 = Let's make the "master" skills be exactly like Gothic and fucking Risen... so NO ONE CAN BLOODY FIND THEM whether they can buy them or have gained the damned rank and have the DCP or not! Let's put Griffon's and Ogres and Cyclops and Minotaurs RIGHT OUTSIDE the fucking main gates of the major city - at LEVEL 10! Let's put a goddamned DRAKE in your path of EVERY FUCKING SIDEQUEST, at level 27... Let's do one better: There's this thing called "dragon's plague" which can fuck your whole save... Let's put a MAIN QUEST in that you HAVE to fight at least 5 Drakes... so you have no real choice but to very likely contract the damned thing. (If this was their assurance of Denuvo, they can absolutely bite me) It's fine if you like the game... but Damn, is it massively flawed.
the only reason they didn't include fast travel is because the had to make sure they held on to your attention. 130 hours and i realized i would have stopped playing the game because i would have cleared the game in 30 hours or less with fast travel. this game is half done. we need a lot more monsters and dungeons and areas and EVERYTHING FUCK. you damn right they had to left out fast travel. so much potential. This is starting to feel like a Cyberpunk situation.
Another great video!! I'm actually really grateful you decided to cover this game; I was thinking about buying it, but now I know it wouldn't be for me. You saved me like 70 bucks lol, so thanks. I do want to mention that, especially at the start of this vid, it seemed like you were talking a lot faster than usual, and it made it a bit tricky to follow along with what you were saying. It got easier to understand you once you entered the "chapter" segments of the video, so it's not a huge issue or anything, but maybe something to keep a note of for the future? Though maybe it was just me. Do you know what your next video will be about? The Elden Ring DLC drops soon, which I'd love to see you cover, but I don't think you've done Souls games on this channel before (and in this video you said you're sick of them, which is understandable). Any other games you're really looking forward to in the next few months? (Other than Silksong. Maybe. Hopefully. Someday. In our dreams.)
Showed up in my recommendation and I don't regret it. Great video brother. 🔥 I picked this game up not too long ago and personally been having an absolute blast.. running warrior class soothes the unga bunga soul in me and combat is definitely a highlight.. cheers 🍻
the fact that you made this funny and insightful review of Dragons Dogma II while listening to drizzy get torched on Euphoria, that's why i love these. Pretty much this is how we do things too lol also yes, it sounds like porn every time
The beggar you are supposed to follow is actually a rich man leading a double life, had you been patient he would have left his "house" in the slums, and you could follow him to his house in the wealthy district. If you search the house in the slums you would have found his beggar's garb.. 1. you can give it back to him, so he can continue the ruse. 2. you can give it to his furry wife who will later murder him, then end her own life. or 3. you can give it to his wealthy wife, who will use it to scare him into giving up the ruse entirely, and remain faithful to her..
Killer job man!! My favorite video of yours thus far. I'm right there with you on Dragon's Dogma 1. I remember digging it, but have never understood the intense fandom it received. I'm excited to give part 2 a try, even more so after hearing what you have to say about it!
Well if they ever let the modders go ham might see a code for pve with friends which this game would’ve been more of a hit for people if it had that with friends
First off, my goodness you need more recognition. Super well done. Will look for Sparrow! In addition to agreeing with pretty much all of your points, another frustration I have with the game is the loot. There's simply not enough, and it seriously seems as though the best stuff is found in shops, in a boringly linear order. Even the base first game had the cool stuff hidden off the beaten path, not to mention farming BBI (at far too low a level)! This game has a bit of hidden loot but it was rarely even as good as the store-bought eq I already had! The ONE exception is a holy elemental mace, just perfect for my Fighter...which was then completely outclassed by the next weapon store. I'm level 52 and have had the same gear since like 20, with most of the map uncovered. Here's hoping for the DLC to save this one too? Bloody hell I loved BBI, such a dangerous area but so many secrets and cool stuff to find, so many exploits and cheese tactics too, if you were willing.
Got used to not fast traveling everywhere, which is something you CAN do in checklist RPGs. There’s some hilarious interactions with enemies you can have like how early game goblins squeal or laugh at you. Saurians are super annoying until you figure them out. If you put Wolves in a vacuum, there’s nothing to write home about, but someone at CAPCOM plays BRs, but their favorite playstyle is to 3rd party (making them more like crackhead coyotes) which forces me to become anti-peta at every turn. All that is to say, there’s a ton that DD2 does better than anyone, but there’s somethings that they “innovate” but ends up really hampering their mid experience. Really good game.
23:55 I highly recommend you try out monster hunter world/rise it hits that David vs Goliath fantasy every time great review hope you come back to the game when it’s expansion is released 😅
I created 4 steam accounts to family share DD:DA, had fun for 500 hours. I played DD2 one thorough playthrough, around 90 hours, explored the whole map, saw most quests I think, started NG+ and stopd playing 10h in it and dont see a reason to play on til DLC arrives. The combat system is fun but theres nothing worthwhile to use it on, the 2 hand full of decent bosses/minibosses get stale fast if you've killed them in DD:DA hundreds of times already. The world looks nice and there are fine nooks and crannies but theres nothing worthwhile to find in this world, and the "dungeons" are just the same caves over and over again populated mostly by saurians or goblins, its so boring. The sphinx is the best side-content by a mile and if there were like 10 things in the world that were around this level of effort than the game would be a lot better. They upgraded some things, downgraded others, as a DD:DA fan I'm pretty disappointed, but I'm used to it, I was disappointed by dark souls 2 or dragon age 2 as well, and all of those are decent games, DD2 included, just disappointing follow ups to absolute banger games, in my opinion. (even tho I admit you gotta dig a lot more for the awesome part in DD:DA than in DS or DA xd) I'm happy tho that so many people seem to like the game and that it sold so well, hopefully DD3 will be what I hoped DD2 to be :D
This was great. 😊 Earned my sub. Keep it up and you'll go places. I disagree with your comment that you shouldn't be making long format videos and that nobody will watch them. 😊 Excited to see what else you create
I love this game as I did DD1. It's not perfect but no other game has the pawn system or battle mechanics...to all the naysayers..its definitely not too easy. It's only going to get better too. 😘🇬🇧👍
Plebs complained about dragons plague " a machanic explained to you in a pop up" 9:08 Mean while scenarios like this truely blind side you 😂 I LOVE THIS GAME
I played 40 hours. Loved dd, and dd2 to some extent. I heard all the excuses from both sides and i agree. My own conclusion is that CAPCOM scammed and lied to the players. They released an unfinished game for £70. What a scam.
You should quit listening to streamers and ppl on the internet game was finished and ran fine on release elden ring skyrim and Witcher fanboys got salty/jeleous of it's success for reasons I'm not sure of.
I think the story is actually a lot better than people give it credit for. The bad part is most of the dialogue is delivered poorly and npcs don't react to your actions all the time. That said I think it's wrong to say it's bad. It actually reminds me far more like a souls game than most are willing to admit. Context as a whole is far more important than it is to be enthralled in every cutsceen. Imo the best parts of the story in this game is what you are not told. The reason that dark souls story isn't considered totally crap is because people like vatividya exist to explain everything in depth and now there is a subculture around it. And the reason that this game misses the mark in that regard is because the majority of characters are unfortunately voiced by total robots. If you had more personality conveyed by the different npcs I guarantee that people would be far more forgiving and find the diamond in the rough. For instance there is a giant monster in this game that speaks to you and I challenge anyone doing their quest line without finding themselves fascinated in what they are doing there and why they want you to do their quest.
A lot of people complain about the fast travel but they never get into the good things about it. Yeah the Ox cart tends to always get attacked and destroyed but as frustrating as that can be. It's also very exciting. You play a game to play a game. Making fast travel a challenge is rather clever and inventive. Could it be tweaked a bit, sure. Maybe spend more for a more secure cart? As for the port crystal system. You can put them wherever you want. This control is very useful. Especially when farming material. Over all I can see the frustration with it but so many other games pretty much let you cheese them with their fast travel. It nice to see a game that at least tries something different and makes you actually play the game.
I kind agree. But he made two good points here: 1. Most gamers today are 20-35 years old. It means, that they don't have that much time to play a game - I've exlored 100% of the map but there were times when I had very little time to play. I am okey with running between cities for quests cause I feel like this is part of the story. But when I had to run between Battahl and the Elf's village to enchant equipment I am getting a bit frustrated. Even the Dragonic enchanter is in a wierd far distant. Luckuly I farm ferrystones so it was not a big deal. 2. There is not much thing to explore. Everything is kinda the same. Making the statement that fast-travel is for games that lack world-design is true, but let's be honest: All caves look the same in the game (4 were only memorable for me.) Lack of enemy variaty is one thing, I believe I would have been still bored. There is no architecture in the game to set atmosphere for fights most of the time. They all feel the same. Yes, the games tries something different, but didn't put the work into it to make a statement. The 3 solutions to make the gameplay easier running from A to B: - Make a very detailed map, with changing scenary (it will still get boring though, this only lasts for 1 play-through, and if you have to run back-and forward it will still lose it's charm) - Make an exciting travel system: i.e: Hogwarts Legacy flying. Their map was blend as hell just like here, but they implemented something that made the player want to not use fast.travel - safe option: Fast travel: convinient for the hardcore players but especially for those who don't have so much time gaming. This is my take on Dragon's Dogma's issue.
Ur just too youngthe game.came out years ago and when it came out it was thr best dueing its time. Sadly thry will never understand the fun i had whwn booting uo the ps3 afterschool playing this
I'm playing dragon dogma 1 now and I can't believe I missed this gem. I've been playing a lot of older single player games recently to actually enjoy gaming like I used to again.
To be fair not having atleast 2 port crystals before battahl means they didn’t explore bermund really well and did some side quests 😅 heck I got 4 on my new save :3
I loved that the title doesn't say 2 until you get the true ending. I've found it to be rather pleasant and since OP begins at lvl 50 I was lvl 61 when I got to the unmoored world. It was a breeze only bc warfarer lol but the flaws are there, not worth to discuss bc the fun outweighs the flaws. I'm on ng+1 and now the game feels great with a Lil starting power. I think too many folks were overwhelmed with the first 2 hours. Great video dude
Lol you need to debate dragons dogma rift posting bc dragons dogma dark arisen was best game ever and you are definitely wrong about the story being bad
honestly, hearing you talk about the combat in the gameplay section really makes me want to see you try out monster hunter world. it's all the highs of dragon's dogma's combat you mentioned, but cranked up to 300%
6:37 he is not the 1st Black Character you meet. The 1st one is the GATE Keeper. The 2nd is CAPTAIN Brant. but you are making a joke sooo whatever. I laugh now.
I can see why you had a bad time you started as the fighter. It’s better than dragons dogma 2 in many ways to call it a bad game is insane. It’s a solid 8/10 only good things the second one did was improved combat and graphics. Improved character creation that should be expected after 10 years. The story is ass you hardlie interact with anyone you don’t even talk to the fake arisen or the queen. The world design is good but could be better they funnel you a lot into spots so it’s not as open as they make out to look
I want baldurs gate 3 with dragons dogma combat
If only. Or even Skyrim with DD combat. Would be the perfect game.... thats why its impossible 😂😂
Yup that's what is really keeping me from playing BG3, the combat, I'm not really a fan of those kinds of games but I want to experience its story so bad lol.
Game of the decade
Naaah.. Bg3 combat is badass. I would love dragons dogma 2 open world with loot and all and everything else from Bg3
@@martakarolinazmyslowska6903 BG3 combat IS badass, i agree with that part of your take lol
I'm here for the trophy of sneaking in but saw you're guerco cavern comment and now I'm gonna try it lol
I snuck in on the black ox cart. No permit needed at that time. Got the award.(I'm in)
There's also literally a dude that sells a beast mask around the corner from the gate
Absolutely fantastic video! Your editing is so good. Keep it up dude!
Appreciate you Zack!
i think this game needs a Dark Arisen expansion (with mystic knight!) and finally a co op, it could be perfect
I hired an archer pawn. She claimed to know a faster way to the Oracle in northern Battahl. She, as well as the three other pawns, proceeded to fall off every cliff on the down to the main road we were already taking. I mean the gameplay is bad, but there are times I really enjoy it.

I got recommended this video, 10.5/10
0.5 points have been deducted because of your shirt (dislike the pattern)
the fact that you made this funny and insightful review of Dragons Dogma II while listening to drizzy get torched on Euphoria, that's why i love these.
Pretty much this is how we do things too lol
also yes, it sounds like porn every time
I am currently level 92 in NG+. Warfarer. . Mage pawn Jason..256 hors in and love it.
I love hors lol
The story is actually exceptional, the way it's told is dogshit. The actual premise is super cool

What if we get Monster hunter but with open world exploration like Dragon's dogma 2?
Nice format and funny as hell, keep up the good work, really enjoyed.
hah subscribed! can't wait to see you play the DLC to the game :D
I have to say that I love your presentation style man. You earned a sub from that alone 🤙
Fire video Silvers! DD2 is the best trash game since, well the first game. Also stay motivated and keep makin content, its good!

Bro does not knwo the difference between an underdeveloped story and a bad story (this is referring to the critiques about DD1)
bro the video edition is insane, keep it up
I have 0 interest in this game but I watched this video anyway because you are that entertaining
Worst anticipated game of all time I’ll never buy a game brand new again unless it’s from fromsoft ☹️
Like the style of ur video, I subscribed keep it up
A lot of people complain about the fast travel but they never get into the good things about it.
But he made two good points here:
The 3 solutions to make the gameplay easier running from A to B:
- Make a very detailed map, with changing scenary (it will still get boring though, this only lasts for 1 play-through, and if you have to run back-and forward it will still lose it's charm)
- Make an exciting travel system: i.e: Hogwarts Legacy flying. Their map was blend as hell just like here, but they implemented something that made the player want to not use fast.travel
- safe option: Fast travel: convinient for the hardcore players but especially for those who don't have so much time gaming.
This is my take on Dragon's Dogma's issue.
Yo I love the way you edited this video, mad funny 🤣
wtf this is the best review i’ve ever seen
I want to see some crazy stuff in this game but not enough people maming content
It sure is!
Ur just too youngthe game.came out years ago and when it came out it was thr best dueing its time. Sadly thry will never understand the fun i had whwn booting uo the ps3 afterschool playing this
Facts I played this game day one type shit. N this is just the bigger picture for this game
I'm playing dragon dogma 1 now and I can't believe I missed this gem. I've been playing a lot of older single player games recently to actually enjoy gaming like I used to again.
surprised you aint mention the meat FMV
To be fair not having atleast 2 port crystals before battahl means they didn’t explore bermund really well and did some side quests 😅 heck I got 4 on my new save :3
Had 4 before I got to Batthal
I loved that the title doesn't say 2 until you get the true ending. I've found it to be rather pleasant and since OP begins at lvl 50 I was lvl 61 when I got to the unmoored world. It was a breeze only bc warfarer lol but the flaws are there, not worth to discuss bc the fun outweighs the flaws. I'm on ng+1 and now the game feels great with a Lil starting power. I think too many folks were overwhelmed with the first 2 hours. Great video dude
Great video, thanks for sharing.
Lol you need to debate dragons dogma rift posting bc dragons dogma dark arisen was best game ever and you are definitely wrong about the story being bad
honestly, hearing you talk about the combat in the gameplay section really makes me want to see you try out monster hunter world. it's all the highs of dragon's dogma's combat you mentioned, but cranked up to 300%
Well done video, keep it up
Most disappointing game in the last 2 decades for me
6:37 he is not the 1st Black Character you meet.
The 1st one is the GATE Keeper.
The 2nd is CAPTAIN Brant.
but you are making a joke sooo whatever. I laugh now.
peak
Nah bro, i really like the game lmao
9:12 hilarious
Shalow combat wow... u dont know what u talking
Dragons dogma 1 was not a bad game at all and it looks like you never played the dlc either which is definitely the best part of the game
you’re so cute
I clicked Like the moment you said ''The story is absolute dogshit''
