Rebel Moon is inspired Star Wars and is Zack Snyder's own pitch for a Star Wars trilogy epic that he decided to make himself and set in his own universe. The film recently released on Netflix and is a sequel to Rebel Moon Part 1 A Child Of Fire. This is the PG-13 cut of the film, but there is supposed to be a director's cut or Snyder cut released later on. Rebel Moon stars Sofia Boutella as Kora aka Arthelais, Ed Skrein as Atticus Noble, Charlie Hunnam as Kai, Staz Nair as Prince Tarrak, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Charlotte Maggi as Sam, Anthony Hopkins as Jimmy, and Bae Doona as Nemesis. What do you think of Rebel Moon? How do you feel about Zack Snyder and his body of work?
I didn't bother as soon as I heard that Netflix was releasing a director's cut. Overall, I feel like Snyder is a very style of substance director.
Its another bad movie from a director with a history of bad movies. Giving him creative control over anything is a horrible idea, if you want to turn a profit on it.
He's always been hit and miss for me and I love when I'm surprised by a project of his, this was a miss and sadly continues to be. I'm really starting to get worried that Snyder is embracing "Snyder cut" as a shameless marketing tool. It's that "look how long I got this asshole to talk about bears" joke applied to any old movie he can grind out with a secondary cut of each. I feel like it's just become a way to farm extra views... and that makes me lose hope in his future work. Who wants to sit through some random passion project to maybe get a better version of the same movie? Evil Dead, but that's about it.
Never knew harvesting grain could be done so dramatically and in slow motion😂. I was kind of shocked how drawn out that sequence was. Did he need to get to a minimum run time, like a high school student trying to get to the needed word count on an essay, and had to have 10 minutes of grain harvesting?!
Better than part 1 but I'm expecting the director's cut of Rebel Moon as a whole to be the movie I was excited for.
Nemesis died too easily and should have never happened after what we saw of her skills against that alien spider (- ^ )
Well I'm glad you enjoyed this more than Part 1. For me I had the opposite experience but glad to hear it was an improvement for you. :) Hopefully the Snyder cut offers us even more in regards to this story. I feel like a lot is missing in Part 2 but at the same time... I felt it was sluggish too. It's a weird combo of issues I have here lol
I also agree 1000% about Nemesis. Definitely taken out too soon. I'm assuming that her going down against that one fighter had more to do with her being exhausted though than her lack of skills. Because you are right, she was already established as being insanely gifted with her plasma swords.

Ever since Jupiter Ascending, I’ve been hesitant to even give movies like this a shot.
😮 so the impression that I got from your review and I did watch the both parts is that if Snyder does have a master cut, he basically took out most probably the good stuff which might’ve been the questionable scenes in order to satisfy when Netflix wanted. So giving Snyder the benefit of the doubt, I’m sure he did a lot of build up for his world took all that stuff out
4:00 😊 hey Amanda awesome as ever. I watched your full review, but I had to go back to the beginning to catch something you said. So whatever source it was apparently had to cut the film so as not to get an R rating. so just by coincidence I went to check the rating of hitman on Netflix. That film has a runtime of a little less than two hours and it has an R rating. So now my question is why did Netflix enforce a ratings change on Snyder’s movie which would require him to cut the movie. By the way, if the movie was too long, they can easily break the film down into shorter runtime and just have it as a saga. Something sounds very suspicious about that whole thing.😮😊
Ah, Man hate that this wasn't up to par. Heard mixed reviews from part 1. Was just hoping part two would be decent. Was gonna renew my Netflix subscription for this, but now I'm not sue
I wish I could have said I enjoyed it... I really wanted Part 2 to redeem Part 1 in some way. Instead I got the opposite. Maybe the Snyder cut will redeem this for us though. I hear it's basically like a mini series in terms of the length for the three parts. Each movie is gonna be insanely long for the Snyder cut, I believe.
His cuts are always 4 hours long but the R-Rating usually helps keeps the interest. Violence will keep you invested. Imagine if they gave him Star Wars.
When Snyder says that something he made is "better", that means that its just more Snyder-ish, which is usually makes things worse.
Snyder has to be the only director in Hollywood with a fanbase so sensitive and toxic that you have to preface any criticisms with praise of his past works 😂😂😂
It's not just you, everyone that does a video review on Snyder films has to do it. Its almost as consistent as reviewers calling bad Marvel movies "fun" so they can maintain access.
And people wonder why film journalism is at an all time low and why theaters are dying 😂
I mean - it really depends for me. More Snyder ish doesn't always mean bad. But in this case, it might mean that. We'll have to wait and see. I did enjoy the Snyder cut of the Justice League a HECK of a lot more than the original cut we got.
@@BaithNa Lol this is somewhat true. Though I don't think all Snyder fans are toxic. But there are some folks out there who are very passionate for some reason about Snyder's work and who believe if you are critical, you can't be a fan. Which is not how critique works - in my opinion. For me I only really critique stuff I'm interested in for one reason or another. So whenever I go into a movie, I'm usually hoping to enjoy it. Not expecting it to fail. But some folks can't seem to understand how you can not like a movie, but still be a fan of people involved in said movie. I also don't like Sofia Boutella in this but I don't necessarily hate or dislike Sofia Boutella as an actress. Just this film ain't it for me in regards to her performance. But a big part of that I think boils down to script and direction here.

i don't really see what's the connection between "more about this world" and a r rated version...does he need to show us more about the world through s*x scene and m*rders? 🤔
More that there is a lot more involved in the R-rated version. His cut just has more content in general apparently. Definitely lots more mature content but also more worldbuilding too. We're looking at an extra hour of content for each film so there is a lot that could be in there.
