Hariharan, being an Indian,south Indian origin, could have verified the Pronunciation by help of some of his Keralite assisstants.Eevn in Original song in the film he has mis pronounced some words, which s would have come to his attention. If still BUSY and not having much to sing in Malayalam, best method is to Transliterate the songs in most of Indian languages In devanagari script, rather than English. A probable Typo in English made SMARANAKAL to SMARANKAL (missing A ?). It would have been close to some meaning if the alphabet M was reversed in typo and made to SWARANKAL! (instead of the correct SMARANAKAL! Better luck next time!
I am a fan of Hariharan......but I am sorry to say in this performance there are so many flaws, let alone incorrect pronounciation which is pardonable because he is not a malayali but he is out of pitch every here and there. Listen carefully the top pitch after the swaras where he lost total control over the song...Very pity .... not expected from a Great and my most favourite singer Hariharan...and the supported musicians are so boring that they didn't have any idea of what they are palying....so irritating....
+Hemantha Kumar Kamath Mr.Hariharan was born in Kerala Trivandrum and may be of Palghat/Tirunelveli origin.Hence I mentioned him as a malayalee though that need not be his only attraction.He ofcouse is a great singer,but lost touch with the vernacular (may not be his mother tongue technically) due to life in Bombay !
Yes you are right.He had his college education in Trivandrum. He is a Tamil Brahmin(Pattar). I am still not able to believe that he could commit such flaws as he did , such a great singer he is.
