I know this post is old, But I have just like this I'm having a problem with the short black hose that comes from the motor to the bottom tank blowing off and it busted the original hose, I can't find any information on this issue, any help would be appreciated
Check your safety relief valve to ensure it opens and closes by pulling on the ring that should be on it. Spray oil on it if it seems to stick. It sounds as if the check valve isn't functioning properly which is allowing air to continue to flow causing the hose to bust from excessive pressure. Make sure you drain condensation out of the tank. Rust will destroy the compressor. Look up Porter Cable Compressor Manual, if you don't have it. Page 2 of 7 has a little bit of info that may help out.
Wouldn't the cfm rating be as important, or more, than the pressure rating. * depending on where its mounted. As the static pressure its set for could be exceeded by a large pulse of air charge entering the tank. No? Cause i have one that is apparently set at 155psi but it keeps relieving at 95-105psi
The SCFM rating is just as important as I mentioned in the video. If you get anything that varies outside of what is stamped on the safety relief valve, it will not function properly. What does yours do if you set air compressor for a lower pressure (105psi)? Does it still blow? If it still blows then your safety relief valve is shot.
I don’t think you have issues with safety valve. You have a problem with motor control. Safety valve is not a car sensor. Has nothing on it except a spring and pin, which you can adjust the pressure too. But problem is that the motor keeps running after reaching the pressure,
Sammy is correct. I'm a relief valve technician. The reason why your relief valve is going off is because your compressor isn't idling down once it reaches a certain pressure. The relief valve is doing what it's intended for, which is why it is releasing pressure. It's preventing your tank from exploding
@@cschena123 Thanks. I appreciate the comment. I replaced the safety relief valve and never had the problem again. It's still running today. I got a new compressor as a gift and haven't used it yet.
Thank god for UA-cam and you too sir.
No problem.

You were right it was the safety relief valve I sprayed it with WD-40, and it started working just fine.
@@bigtex970 Glad to hear it all worked out. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Good video and very helpful. Thank you!
No problem. Thanks for watching.
You can buy valves that you can calibrate for different release pressure by compressing the internal spring.
Good to know. Thanks for sharing information.
Im having the same problem with my Kobalt. Ty for the help
No problem. Glad to help out where I can.
Good info. Thanks!
No problem

Where dis you order the part?
Search Amazon. You will find them on there. Search... "safety valve for air compressor."
