Heard this on GT sport. Loved the song. Looked up the lyrics. Love the French. Translated to English awesome lyrics! I don’t want to work! I just want to smoke!
Since I'm from India I cannot watch them perform. So I ensure I'm first everytime I see a notif. This song is what made me find Pink Martini, Love China Love Thomas and the whole orchestra
In retrospect, it might not be the *best* song to teach school children learning French, but it's not the worst. It's catchy and fun- nous ne regrettons rien!
I adore Pink Martini and I exercise to the Stuttgart concert every morning in my garage. 😳. The thing is, I’m English - which is shorthand for I’m lazy and selfish with languages and surely everyone speaks English, don’t they? So having said that, I would love translations to all the non English language songs (which are most of them 😊) from that concert, if someone far brighter and more generous would be so kind. And please forgive my Englishness. I’m working on it. Stay safe everyone.
Glad we could help with your quarantine workout! We're working on adding closed captioning and translations to more of our videos, one of our quarantine projects. Stay tuned!
Pink Martini. Now that really is what I call customer service! 👍. I wasn't expecting that. Thank you for the pleasure you give to so many of us. I will attempt to stay ’tuned’ as you say, but it’s that lack of ability on my part that makes me more inclined to listen to a superb band / orchestra who naturally are! I hope you are all staying safe in these strange and worrying times. Thank you once again ❤️
❤ Pink Martini ❤ I really enjoy this chanson. I now have a better understanding of where the lyrics came from. The song sounded to me as if it came from the 1950s or there about. It has chanson vibes. It also is bit jazzy. France was really into jazz then. It seems the lyrics were inspired by a French poem from 1911 by a poet who died in WWI in 1918 of Spanish flu. The poem is titled Hôtel. Hence the beginning lyrics describing a hotel room. She notices the bellhops at her door that remind her of little soldiers, who want to have sex with her. ( soldiers are often on the prowl, as they say. ) A woman in a Paris hotel room ( let's say ) during the daytime, feeling down. She doesn’t want to go to work. She also is not hungry. She just wants to forget it ( what ever it is. ) And then she smokes.
I was quite proud of myself when I heard the studio version and noticed the accent there, especially since I didn't know the band before then and just assumed they were French until I heard it...the recording wasn't too bad actually, but here the accent is super-noticeable, you can instantly tell it's an English native speaker singing.
Loved the music, love every song by Pink Martini. Translated the lyrics to English, loved this song SO MUCH MORE!!
Wonderful! Bravissimo !🎉❤
Best translation I have run into. Great job. They are so amazing live.

listened to this on new year's eve in front of Tour Eiffel for the first time. What a beautiful experience.
ZACZAROWANY ZESPÓŁ MUZYCZNY I JEGO ZA CZAROWANE MELODIE 🧭🤗👌🥰💖✋😁🎇
I’m glad this is subtitled. Germans are notorious for dubbing foreign language content.
Qui veulent me prendre
Me rend malade
Je ne veux pas travailler
Je ne veux pas déjeuner
Je veux seulement l'oublier
Et puis je fume
Je ne suis pas fière de ça
Vie qui veut me tuer
C'est magnifique être sympathique
Mais je n'le connais jamais
Je ne veux pas travailler, non
Je ne veux pas déjeuner
Je veux seulement l'oublier
Et puis je fume
Je n'suis pas fière de ça
Vie qui veut me tuer
C'est magnifique être sympathique
Mais je n'le connais jamais
Je ne veux pas travailler, non
Je ne veux pas déjeuner
Je veux seulement l'oublier
Et puis je fume
Absolutely love this group!!
My French teacher taught us this to help us with tenses. A bunch of high schoolers singing “I don’t wanna work, I just wanna smoke!”
In retrospect, it might not be the *best* song to teach school children learning French, but it's not the worst. It's catchy and fun- nous ne regrettons rien!
@@PinkMartiniOfficial we all loved it!!💜😩
Excelente grupo✓ saludos cordiales desde México.
There is singer, then singer, then the real singer… this is a singer…..
Wonderful. We will need to wait another year for the concert in Berlin, sad but understandable. Please keep the video flowing in the meantime.

the description totally omits that it's a french poem from Guillaume Appolinaire
One of my partners makes me a playlist twice a year, for my birthday and my half-birthday. This was on one of the birthday ones, I think in 2018.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I love yours.
German people are restrained in expressing their emotions.
Only after learning French I can spot her american accent

♥️♥️♥️
I've been to this concert :)

It was my grand son favotite song when he was five. He is from french spoken part of swiss and hunderstood the lyrics. What a shame ! :)
