I always thought the main character had a cricket mallet for a head.
I'm glad to point out the elephant in the room, I always ask myself why do they look like that? Every time I see this game.
Because the original game was an even bigger drug trip with basically the prince knocking people out with their hammer like head and sticking a tiny steering wheel into the human's head to control them
Katamari taught me how to find joy and playfulness in everyday things. I played the first 2 games, and they helped me a lot when I was going through a really tough time in grad school
This game has been my comfort game for ages. Could replay the levels any day
Katamari is one of those series that I only ever hear amazing things about from those who've played them, and I really need to dive into these games myself. The fact that you had to do an entire section on just the music makes me very excited to play them

We love Katamari reroll is my dream game, my goty 2023, my personal prayers answered tbh. I had the original on ps2 as a kid and was always enamored by it. It's the kind of game I've shared with several friends that they cannot not remember!
Love your style in making this video. I really wish I could experience the other games in the franchise more easily. When I played the first game's remake, I was disappointed as the second game truly outshines it in every single regard. So for years I port begged for this.
I bought the music dlc and found several more jams that I won't ever forget. Sayonara rolling star is my jam!!! Also you really don't like the ghost stage? I thought it was a really fresh idea but hey to each their own. I can't believe the tire level seems to be impossible to 100% legitimately without the exploit of running into a wall for a few minutes.
Anyway, my favorite cousins are Signolo and Foomin and Kinoko. But I love pretty much all of them.

i was wondering what was up when you didn't mention the music in fhe first half. absolute bangers across the board, and yeah, even the later games have great soundtracks. "alien" from touch my katamari could very well be my third favourite song in the series.

Yesssss omg!! I have a few of their songs in my playlist, I do know that Namco had one of the members pre-band do some soundtracks for Klonoa and Pacman stuff.
Funnily enough even though the original was made in response to the repetitive and soulless nature of new releases, it’s the only game i’ll never get tired of. I always find myself coming back, to get a taste of this wonderful world and amazing music accompaniment.
I think what lends to this is just how unique it really is. I can’t think of a single game that reminds me of Katamari, other than Wattam (which is wonderful in its own way). Whenever I waddle back into “regular” games after my millionth play-through of a Katamari game, I find myself quickly bored as i’ve seen it all before (shooty shoot, jump, hit thing). This shit is just timeless OKAY, I had to get these words out lmao.
P.S. I agree, Houston is legitimately the best track on the best version of Katamari ok bye

I tried this game once as a kid and did shit on the first level so logically space dad berated me, took me to the death zone to kill me, and I was so scared I never played it again 😂 something about being killed by him just terrified me back then!
Idk why people poo poo the sequel. It’s so much better in every way than the original. It’s so much fun and adds a lot of interesting levels. The sumo wrestler bon fire and racing tracks were are amazing in their own right. You can play as the cousins you can select stage music etc
