it's very sad that people can't grasp these ideas and learn truth because they're too close-minded to actually find the evidence of the book of Mormon they have already been brainwashed by similar preachers and pastors to be totally 100% against anything from the church oh Jesus Christ of Letter Day Saints....!
I love the way these programs post so many various names of people and those people's research and they're not even Latter-Day saint people cuz it really helps to press the point the truth can be discovered by anyone it's not just the LDS Church.

Great Video! I'd just like to point out that, even if there was evidence pointing towards Joseph Smith saying things about Lehi's family in South America or something, that doesn't make it prophetic revelation or prove that Joseph Smith was a false prophet. I think sometimes people think that Joseph Smith has an infallible person, which just isn't true. He WAS a prophet of God, but he still made mistakes. If Joseph Smith speculated that Lehi's family landed in South America, even if they didn't, that's totally fine. It would have just been Smith's opinion.

The prophet Joseph Smith actually said the plains of the Lamanites and Nephites were in North America.
Hugh Nibley and Hyrum Andrus both indicated less than optimistic support the Meso America models.
There would appear to be more evidence in the Mound Builder area and a distinct bias to keep it hidden for other reasons.

Thanks for making this video it's important that more members of the Church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints know the true lands of the Book of Mormon as stated by Joseph, Oliver, and Lucy Joseph's mother among others. A simple study of Zion's Camp can yeld a wealth of information about the lands of the Book of Mormon. Over many years of study and serving a mission in the mound lands of the Book of Mormon I see the full course of the Book as never before. All the evidence is there and the Lord promised Joseph and the Church that evidence would come forth from the ground and it has in abundance.

I have a personal conviction both from study and personal revelation that the nephite homeland was within Mesoamerica. There are many chronological, geographical, and cultural similarities that cannot be put aside. But I believe due to a number of suggestive discoveries that it's probable that some of the cultures from the "heartland" (U.S.) region could have also been Nephite. In Alma 63 and Helaman 3 it is indicated that many Nephites migrated northward. How northward we are not made known. It's likely some went farther than others. I also believe due to a number of findings that other foreign groups from the Old World also arrived at different times. I read once of discoveries of Roman or Greek liquid vessels discovered underwater off the coast of Brazil. We don't know everything. Nor how many groups of people the Lord led to this promised land before Columbus. I believe we should consider all evidence with an open mind whether or not it agrees with our current theories.

Wonderful, Wonderful,Wonderful video!!! I have been leaving comments on other Book of Mormon geography videos and then I found this gem!I think you hit a home run with this.Of course I have followed Wayne May for the last 15 years or so, and the last few years Rod Meldrum and of course Bruce Porter. But you added some great stuff in addition to the others.I personally believe that Lehi's journey was a Sinai sojourn , not Arabian. And after their journey in the wilderness, which by the way sounds like they followed the children of Israels same route so Lehi could instruct them as to the ways of God as did their forefathers under Moses .They ended up north in Lebanon, the land of Bountiful. An area that was rich in all the fruits and everything they needed to survive .Nephi built his ship near or on the river Sidon near the phonecian shipbuilders, the best in the world. He could get all of the materials he needed on Mount Hermon.I also believe this is the Mount that is repeatilly mentioned in the scriptures. Its the largest mountain in the middle east.I believe this is the Mount visited by the Brother of Jared, Nephi, and of course Jesus Christ. So then Lehi's family boarded Nephi's ship and sailed across the mediterranean a "Straight course" and landed in the USA as you showed. They named the Mississippi after the river they lived near for years building the ship, Sidon. These theories I got from reading two books by Duane Aston, I am sure that's his name. His books are out of print, written about 20 years ago or so.They are, "Only one Cumorah,"and "Return to Cumorah". Excellent books.Anyways these are great videos you made.Sorry for all the misspelled words.

The north/westerly route across the Atlantic has been a known and published sea-route for sailing ships for hundreds of years. It's all about the prevailing trade-winds and the Humboldt currents.
The south/westerly route across the Indian Ocean is likewise, a known spice-trade route but only for half the year. The other half, the winds reverse themselves and favor incoming ships.
These wind and current conditions have remained unchanged.

I appreciate your research on the possible voyages of ancient people to the Americas around 600 BC. My studies on the route Lehi’s family took from Jerusalem to the western edge of the Arabian peninsula and turning east at Nahom to end up in what is now Oman is based on an article in the December 1976 issue of the Ensign magazine published by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Further research on the winds and tides in the area of the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea points to your assumption that it is extremely possible for an ancient ship to have sailed easier west from Oman in the Fall after the harvest was in, when food stocks would be more plentiful and the winds and tides blowing and flowing southwesterly along the east coast of Africa makes more sense than trying to sail eastward across two major oceans.
Good work on your research and excellent series.

There is some very fine research and information presented here, which is greatly appreciated. But because we have conclusive evidence that Moroni's Cumorah was in New York, that does not prove that the narrow neck of land and Zarahemla was north of Adam-ondi-Ahman, or any where that near Cumorah. You can study my manuscript on file at the BYU Maxwell Institute entitled, “Where Does the Two Cumorah Theory Stand?,” by L. La Mar Adams, which shows how the Prophet Joseph and Book of Mormon passages puts the narrow neck of land and Zarahemla far south of Missouri. To say that the Nephits did not exist at least as far south as Central America, in addition to their later living in the US area, is not only contradicting the Prophet Joseph, and most other prophets who have written on the subject, but a number of Book of Mormon passages.

The Mesoamerican model is built entirely on the Isthmus of Tehuantepec (narrow neck of land) and the east and west sea. The narrow neck of land and the east and west sea were not mentioned until 500 years after arriving in the promised land. This is because the Lehites landed in the Gulf Coast area and retreated northward to the hill Cumorah and Great Lakes region to escape the Lamanite wrath. It was over 300 years before the Nephites discovered the Mulekites.
The east and west sea refer to the Great Lakes. The narrow neck of land is the Isthmus of Niagara. Niagara means "neck of land." It is 21 miles from Lake Ontario to Lake Erie on a line parallel with the Niagara River and the Welland Ship Canal--a very good candidate for a Nephite journey of a day or day and a half. It is 136 miles across the Isthmus of Tehuantepec and a 61-hour (7, 8-hour days or 5, 12-hour days) journey (3.3/mph) on the shortest road in the area. Without roads, it could easily take 3 or 4 weeks or more!
After Lehi and his family had completed their 8 years of wandering (did they have some lessons to learn?), they arrived at the Indian Ocean. They called the large body of water Irreantum which means many waters. They were obviously familiar with the Sea of Galilee and the Dead Sea and Mediterranean Sea. This body of water was special and they built a ship and sailed into the many waters (ocean) and probably landed along the Gulf Coast near Florida. When they reached the promised land and stepped off the ship, they were still located in the "many waters" (now called the Atlantic Ocean). 1 Nephi Chapter 13 describes the Gentiles (and early explorers) in Europe being separated from the descendants of Nephi by the many waters (see 5 references to many waters in Chapter 13). Obviously, many waters is the Atlantic Ocean. Mesoamerican theorists call it the east/west sea which is totally bogus. If it happened in Central America, it would be called the east/west many waters, not seas.
The scriptures also use the "great deep" and "great waters' and "the deep" (Jaredites and Mulekites) to refer to an ocean. See Abraham 4:10, 22. If it happened in Central America, it would be called the east/west many waters, not seas. It says 5 times in 1 Nephi 13 that Lehi's descendants were separated from the Gentiles by "many waters", not the east sea. This is an obvious reference to the early explorers and the Revolutionary War. The Mesoamerican model believes that the Jaredites, Mulekites, and Nephites all lived in or near the narrow neck of land about 600 miles long and 140 to 200 miles wide.
How could the Nephites and Mulekites go undetected for over 300 years if they were all collocated in the narrow neck of land?
How could they get lost in the wilderness if they had the east and west sea for navigation?
Why wouldn't the east and west seas and the narrow neck of land be mentioned early and often if it happened in the Mesoamerican area? Because it took the Nephites 500 years to migrate from the Gulf Coast to the Great Lakes. It didn't happen in Mesoamerica.
1 Nephi 13:14 states, " And it came to pass that I beheld many multitudes of the Gentiles upon the land of promise; and I beheld the wrath of God, that it was upon the seed of my brethren; and they were scattered before the Gentiles and were smitten."
In 1823, the SCOTUS ruled that Indians could not own land. In 1830, the Indian Removal Act started moving at least 5 major Indian tribes from the eastern US to Indian Territory. Over 4,000 Cherokee people died of cold, hunger, and disease on their way to the western lands. If this doesn't describe scattered and smitten (Manifest Destiny), I don't know what does. It didn't stop there in Indian Territory. These tribes were moved again to Indian Reservations and lawsuits over reservation boundaries continue to this day.
In 1830, Oliver Cowdery, Peter Whitmer, Jr., Parley P. Pratt and Ziba Peterson were called on a mission to the Lamanites (1830-31). Oliver Cowdery preached to the Delaware Indians in Indian Territory (present day Kansas). During his speech, Oliver stated, "This Book, which contained these things, was hid in the earth by Moroni, in a hill called by him Cumorah, which hill is now in the State of New York, near the village of Palmyra, in Ontario county. " See History of the Church, Vol 1, p184, The Deseret Book Company 1973. Missionaries didn't arrive in Guatemala until 1947!
Ether 15:8 states “waters of Ripliancum, which, by interpretation, is large, or to exceed all.” If this definition doesn’t match the Great Lakes, nothing does. It is the largest body of fresh water (20%) in the world and it certainly divides the land. Ether 10:20 states, “And they built a great city by the narrow neck of land, by the place where the sea divides the land.” Mesoamerica doesn’t fit because the land divides the east/west sea per the John L. Sorenson map. Clearly, the Great Lakes divide the land.
How would Mormon or Moroni move all the plates from Mesoamerica to the Hill Cumorah near Palmyra, NY where Joseph got the plates (a distance of 2,275 miles--more if they followed the rivers)? Why would they expose themselves and the plates to the Lamanites who were bent on their destruction? There was a room full of records that Mormon abridged-several wagon loads.
Whirlwinds are mentioned in the Book of Mormon. The US has more tornadoes than any other country in the world. Canada is #2. England is #3. Tornadoes do not happen in Mesoamerica.
Before the final Jaredite battle, it took 4 years to gather all the people together (Ether 15:14). If they were located near the narrow neck of land in Mesoamerica (Isthmus of Tehuantepec), they could be gathered in 3 or 4 weeks. They were scattered across the face of the land and around the Great Lakes and beyond and gathered at the hill Ramah which is the same as the Hill Cumorah (near Palmyra, New York) described in Ether 15:11."
Book of Mormon people followed the migrating buffalo which migrated back and forth between the US and Canada, mostly in the Great Plains region. There are no migrating animals in Mesoamerica except birds.
Book of Mormon people strictly adhered to the Law of Moses until Christ visited them after his resurrection. This required the right plants and animals. These were available in America, not in Mesoamerica.
After Christ visited the Nephites in America, he probably visited the people living in Mesoamerica and South America (3 Nephi 16:1-4) which would explain the legends of the great white god and Quetzalcoatl. Certainly, there were great civilizations in Mesoamerica. Unfortunately, their civilization has nothing to do with the Book of Mormon.
Here is what Elder Nelson said at a BYU Devotional on 22 Nov 1988. See his talk entitled, “Thanks for the Covenant” at
    speeches.byu.edu/talks/russell-m-nelson_thanks-covenant/ .
“Now, what of the promise of possession of certain lands? Territorial inheritance destined for the sons of Israel provided property in the Holy Land for Reuben, Simeon, Judah, Issachar, Zebulun, Gad, Asher, Dan, Naphtali, and Benjamin.
But where was the inheritance for Joseph? From the Book of Mormon we learn that his inheritance was this land in the American hemisphere (see Ether 13:8)-identified as being choice above all other lands (see Ether 1:42, 10:28, 13:2; D&C 38:20). It was choice, but not necessarily from the standpoint of scenery or wealth. It was choice because it was chosen. America was to serve as the repository of sacred records written on metallic plates. It one day was to become the location for the restoration of the gospel. It was to host headquarters of the Lord’s restored church.”
In the Sep 1972 Ensign, Hugh Nibley stated, “The Book of Mormon is a history of a related primitive church, and one may well ask what kind of remains the Nephites would leave us from their more virtuous days. A closer approximation to the Book of Mormon picture of Nephite culture is seen in the earth and palisade structures of the Hopewell and Adena culture areas than in the later stately piles of stone in Mesoamerica.”
The Book of Mormon is true. It testifies of Christ. It happened in America, not Mesoamerica.

In the Hawai'i temple visitors center there is (or used to be) a quote about the Hawaiians being descendants of Hagoth. I no longer live on Oahu so I attend a different temple now and can not say if that quote is still there. In addition BYU Studies has a quote about Hagoth and Hawaiians saying: "Mormon tradition has it that Hawaii Loa and Hagoth are the same person, and LDS temple records show them as being the same". It is hard for me to see how Hagoth and the polynesians fit into this model. Any ideas? FYI, Hawai'i Loa is the man who first brought people to inhabit Hawai'i. @@adamholloway7963 Great questions. At the bottom are a couple of my videos that go more into the warfare of the Hopewell, which also mention Western New York. A couple other great books published by the Smithsonian in 1849 & 1851 by Ephraim G. Squier ("Aboriginal Monuments of the State of New York" and "Antiquities of the State of New York") are specifically about the Hopewell forts in Western New York, and mentions the "bone pits" of Western New York, Canada, and Michigan. Today, there are over 200 known Hopewell fort sites in Western New York alone (including by the Cumorah area), most of which are strategically placed to block the passage between Lake Erie and the Appalachian Mountains, and the passage between Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. So between the Native American legends about the mound-builders and what's been left behind from the Hopewell's warfare, it matches up pretty close to what is described in the Book of Mormon. As for why the scientific community doesn't accept the Book of Mormon, I assume it's for similar reasons that the Bible is not accepted, because they both contain supernatural religious things in them. Much of what's in the Bible (as far as locations and general history go) can be verified, but there's so much supernatural stuff that can't. For example, we know there's an Egypt, a Red Sea, and Jerusalem, but it hasn't been proven that Moses parted the Red Sea by God's power and crossed it on dry ground in between walls of water. And of course, all of the things that Jesus Christ did. Likewise, as we learn more about ancient native American cultures, we know that the Hopewell were a lighter-skinned tribe who were powerful, had metal weapons and armor, built buildings out of mounds and wood, often buried their dead in mounds, showed up in Florida (and curiously, Iowa) in the 500s B.C. and were eventually wiped out in New York (and Kentucky) around 400 A.D. by other tribes who combined together to defeat them. But like the Bible, the Book of Mormon contains supernatural things that haven't been proved, as well as the supernatural story of how Joseph Smith got it. But I dare say there's even more prejudice against the Book of Mormon than there is against the Bible. And I don't think it helps that Joseph Powell (father of John Wesley Powell) was a traveling Methodist preacher in Western New York during the 1830s when "Mormonism" had just originated there and there was so much hatred against the new "Mormons". John Wesley Powell (who was very racist against Indians) was later put in charge of the U.S. Department of Indian Affairs. I don't know if all of that has anything to do with suppressing the relationship between some native Americans, Hebrews, and the Book of Mormon, but I do find it a fascinating coincidence.

If the Hopewell Indians match so closely with what is described in the Book of Mormon, why doesn’t the scientific community see the connection? In fact, why don’t Dr. John Clark and Dr. John Sorenson see the connection either? Or, have they changed their position that, “the archaeology of New York is persuasive evidence that Book of Mormon peoples did not live there.” (www.deseret.com/2011/1/24/20368600/challenging-issues-keeping-the-faith-dilemmas-with-great-lakes-model-more-than-just-geographical)
You said, “As for why the scientific community doesn't accept the Book of Mormon, I assume it's for similar reasons that the Bible is not accepted, because they both contain supernatural religious things in them.”
Although there are “supernatural religious things” in the Bible, the scientific community still accepts some locations and historical events described in the Bible as valid. However, I am not aware of any location or historical event described in the BoM is being accepted by the scientific community as valid. From what I can find, the scientific community is clear that it does not accept the historicity of the BoM.
You said, “But like the Bible, the Book of Mormon contains supernatural things that haven't been proved, as well as the supernatural story of how Joseph Smith got it. Are you saying that you believe the reason the scientific community does not accept the similarities that you point out in your videos as evidence that supports the BoM is rooted in “prejudice” instead of based on an unbiased application of the scientific method?
I watched both videos and they were interesting. The first one focused on mounds with human bones and the second one focused on metal armor and weapons of the Hopewell. The second video points out the extensive use of copper weapons and armor used by the Hopewell. I found it interesting. The video also shows a picture of an excavation, sometime between 1840-1920, of “69 copper and iron celts and 92+ copper and iron breastplates” and then goes on to claim, “the Hopewell people definitely knew how to smelt iron.”
I am trying to make sense of conflicting information here because according to the video, the Hopewell Indians “definitely” knew how to smelt iron. However, according to multiple other sources in just a quick search, the Hopewell did not know how to smelt iron. For example:
As of 1999, "no one has found evidence that points to the use of melting, smelting and casting in prehistoric eastern North America."(Martin, S.R. (1999). Wonderful Power: The Story of Ancient Copper Working in the Lake Superior Basin. Great Lakes Books Series. Wayne State University Press. p. 136.)
“Iron, steel, glass and silk were not used in the New World before 1492.” (www.utlm.org/onlineresources/pdf/smithsonianletter1996.pdf)
“To the Hopewell Culture, ancient Native Americans who sought out the exotic from near and far, metal was a rare and precious resource. Copper, found in its pure form or laboriously extracted from rock, was common, but they didn’t have the technology to smelt iron.” (insider.si.edu/2017/05/ancient-native-american-beads-traced-otherworldy-source-meteorite/#:~:text=To%20the%20Hopewell%20Culture%2C%20ancient,the%20technology%20to%20smelt%20iron)
The two options that I can think of to make sense of the conflicting information is that 1) the initial conclusion in late 19th early 20th century that the Hopewell Indians could smelt iron was wrong and corrected later on due to additional scientific evidence, or 2) there is a conspiracy being perpetrated by the scientific community as a whole to suppress and deny evidence which supports that the Hopewell smelted iron. Of the two options, I consider option one the most reasonable option.

@@adamholloway7963 I'm not here to argue with you. Clark and Sorensen have made a lot of conclusions that flat-out contradict the Book of Mormon, and I and many others in my church think some of their conclusions are an embarrassment to the church. If you want to believe that the iron Hopewell celts dug out from the bottom of that Hopewell mound are either somehow not Hopewell celts or are fakes planted for deception by the excavators for some reason, that's fine with me. If you want to believe that the ancient iron furnaces, glazing, mold fragments, and the iron Hopewell celt still in its mold found by William Conner are all just hoaxes, that's fine with me. It wouldn’t have done the fish aquariums or beehives that were inside the ships any good either. I made a mock-up of one of those ships from the description in the Book of Mormon. The ships didn’t have any windows and the entrance was sealed off. They used the 16 glass orbs that Mahonri had made from melted rocks (like glass is made from sand), which the Savior then touched one at a time causing them to constantly radiate light. I was particularly curious about the holes the Savior told them to put in the ships. One in the floor of each ship and one in the top. He told them to make a plug to put in the top hole to unplug when they needed fresh air. He didn’t mention the reason for the bottom hole. I found out that if the floor hole was plugged when the top hole was unplugged then no water would enter the ship from the bottom hole. But if the bottom plug wasn’t in place when the top hole was unplugged then the ship would quickly fill with water and sink. If the bottom plug was out when the top plug was in place then no water would enter the ship either. I then asked myself, why a hole in the bottom? Here are some possible reasons: an “outhouse”, a hole to fish thru, a place for garbage, a place to dump dirty bath water or dish water, a place to dump the animal manure each day so the smell of ammonia wouldn’t fill the ship. I asked a friend how they could have stored enough water for a year for them and the farm animals which would have been a huge amount of water. He said that the top of the ship could have been sloped towards the top hole and that would have provided a lot of rain water for them to capture. It’s also interesting that the Book of Mormon says that because of the ships designs, sea monsters couldn’t break them up and whales couldn’t mar them.

Years ago my children were challenged in a Family Night to make a model of a Jaredite bowl. My 8 year old son came to me with a major problem. Every time the boat flipped over, all the animals fell on the people. We experimented in the kitchen sink and discovered the same principles you discussed in your reply.
It should be noted that contrary to "common teachings," The Book of Mormon does not ever say the boats would flip upside down in a storm, etc.

After returning to Egypt and giving a full report to Pharaoh Necho II, Lehi was granted the Pharaohs protection from Nebuchadnezzar and given an inheritance of land in Ethiopia. • @redfightblue
      @redfightblue Рік тому

@@dcarts5616 If Africa is the Land South, Moroni's journey North to Cumorah would be back to Israel.
Taking the Book of Mormon to Israel wouldn't just be out of the blue. When Jeremiah warned Jews not to go to Egypt, (something Lehi did) he said a "remnant" will return to show the truth of his prophecy that those in Egypt will die by the sword.
After the Nephites were destroyed by the sword, Moroni fulfilled Jeremiahs prophecy.
Jeremiahs prophecy was in accordance with Ezekiel's "Stick of Joseph" prophecy. The "stick of Joseph" is the record of Jews in Africa. Joseph because Joseph was sold into Egypt and Jacob went to Egypt. This is what Lehi did, he went to Egypt, then Ethiopia.
When Moroni returned to Israel he was reuniting the Stick of Joseph with the Stick of Judah just as Ezekiel prophesized.
Hugh Nibley recognized the similarity of Cumorah and Qumran and wrote about it several times.
So if the Book of Mormon is a true record of a tribe of Ethiopian Jews, copies can be found in Ethiopia. they have churches and temples in Ethiopia that are guarded by monks. These monks guard the holy Relics and manuscripts and never let anyone in.
I think copies of the Book of Mormon are in these churches to this day.
These churches were plundered by James Bruce in 1760's when he explored Ethiopia. He copied the manuscripts and returned to Europe so he could translate them.
He brought back the first known recovered copies of the Book of Enoch.
The Book of Mormon was among those manuscripts and was never published before James Bruce died. The Book of Mormon came to America through scholarly channels.
Joseph Smith was born across the river from Dartmouth. Dartmouth was founded in that location to baptize the Native American Indian. Several students at Dartmouth published manuscripts claiming the Native American Indian was lost tribe of Israel. This was done to advance the goal of baptizing them. These books were published before the Book of Mormon.
I think we can connect the dots and see how a real history of Jews in Ethiopia was altered to be the history of "Jews" in America. This was done to start a movement of baptizing the Native American Indian. To tell them they are Jews, and not heathens would show God did not forget them or let them live in America separated from knowing Christ. Their ancestors "fell away" and now they have the opportunity to "come back".
Everything in the Book of Mormon fits Ethiopia and not America. I can go on and on if you want. I can show you where the Jaredites came from and where they went. I can show you Lehi's exact journey through the wilderness and why he went to Ethiopia. I can show you Omer's journey and more about who he was.
I can show you how Alma went across the Isthmus of Suez to Jordan, and Saudi Arabia. Ammonihah, Middoni and the Land of Ishmael are clearly the Biblical lands of Ammon, in Jordan, Midian in Saudi Arabia and every reader of the Bible knows Ishmael settled Arabia and became the father of the Arabian people.
It's clear to me that someone altered these locations to hide the Old World locations. Midian keeps its Biblical spelling in one verse showing exactly what I'm talking about.
We know Alma went across the Isthmus of Suez because he mentions a "3 day journey". This phrase is symbolic and refers to the crossing of the Isthmus of Suez, out of Africa and back to the Middle East.
Lehi used the phrase when he went from the Red Sea to a continually flowing river which is obviously the Nile. Lehi crossed the Isthmus of Suez, the Narrow Neck of Land. That was his "3 day journey".
Even the children of Israel used it when the pondered escaping bondage in Egypt. The 3 days journey in Exodus 3:18 reflects getting out of Egypt and across the Isthmus of Suez to the Red Sea. And we know they did this and crossed the Red Sea.

Even supposing the Mississippi was an ocean inlet it still is south on where you are locating Zarahemla.

Think of the Great Lakes 2000-3000 years ago which covered more land because they were deeper. This provides several possibilities for the Narrow neck of land. I believe the East Sea was Lake Ontario and the west sea could be Lake Erie or Lake Michigan. I think the Narrow Neck of Land could be the Isthmus of Niagara between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. Based on the higher lake levels from 2000 years ago, other places around the Great Lakes could be the Narrow Neck of Land. Ether 10:20 states, "And they built a great city by the narrow neck of land, by the place where the sea divides the land." This single scripture proves that it didn't happen in Mesoamerica because the land divides the water. The Great Lakes contain 20% of the earth's fresh water and they surely divide the land! At the end of their civilization, both the Jaredites and Nephites were living around the Ohio and New York area and met their demise on the same hill Ramah and Cumorah. Read my long comment from yesterday.

Bruce Lloyd the issue with that is all the Great Lakes are East of Zarahemla if Zarahemla in on the banks of the Mississippi in Iowa. It’s 250 miles due East just to arrive at Lake Michigan. If one travels due north one arrives at the western tip of Lake Superior which also is oriented East-west but then the issue arises where Hagoth can’t sail north it’s more East than north. Even if he did and ended up on the northern most point in Canada it brings up the question why even go to the effort to build ships when one can easily traverse the shore line to go north instead. The other issue is for internal consistency especially with Alma 22 the place of Lehi’s first landing and the west sea that Hagoth launched into necessarily must be the same sea.

@@jasonmarkrobertson There are over 500 clues and references about Geography in the Book of Mormon. There are also over 150 documented models of Book of Mormon Geography.
Shift your thinking away from what has been taught over the past 60 years--Mesoamerican Model. Think of Lehi's first Landing somewhere on the Gulf Coast by FL. The Nephites retreated northward and eventually ended up at Cumorah. We don't know the exact dimensions of the land of Nephi/Zarahemla/Jershon/Cumorah or land Bountiful. The city of Zarahemla was in the land of Zarahemla. Who knows how far east/west it extended? I think north and northward were used differently than a specific compass heading.
Keep an open mind and study the Hopewell and Adena cultures and the mound builders between the Great Lakes and the Gulf Coast. The fortifications mentioned in Alma matches up well with some of the structures built by the Hopewell. The Nephites liked to build with wood. They used cement when wood wasn't available and they liked to build with wood so much that they shipped it in when it wasn't available locally.
People in Iowa today would probably say the Great Lakes are to the northeast--term not found in the Book of Mormon. Saying they are northward or north is still true if you think in terms of the general direction. For example if you are standing at Nauvoo (40 degrees north latitude), anything located north of 40 degrees north latitude is north. Although we might prefer a northeast or northwest or an exact compass heading.

    • @jasonmarkrobertson
      @jasonmarkrobertson 4 роки тому +3

Bruce Lloyd I’m not using a specific geography. I’m using the internal geographical markers in the text itself to develop an internal map. Alma 22 says that the land of Zarahemla is north of the land of Nephi and the land bountiful was north of Nephi and that the sea west is on the west border of both the land of Nephi and Zarahemla. So it’s not consistent to have Hagoth travel north or even north east to launch into the west sea in Alma 63. It’s a requirement that the west sea must be west of the lands of Nephi, Zarahemla and bountiful and extend north of Zarahemla and bountiful for him to have traveled northward and launched into the west sea. I think it’s important that an internal map be created first before it is fit to any geography otherwise people are prone to force fit a geography on the text.

Both groups came to the Americas close to the same time period. The Mulekites came down to what is known as the land of Zarahemla from the North, likely the St. Lawrence river / Great Lakes region, if we believe the Heartland model. The Nephites came to the Americas from the South, likely the Florida area (around 600 BC.) The Nephites eventually travelled northward trying to escape the Lamanites and discovered the Mulekites around 200 BC. So, they spent about 400 years apart from each other in the Americas, before the Nephites discovered the Mulekites in the land of Zarahemla. This chronology chart which is a seminary chronology chart, shows the time periods of the Book of Mormon peoples : www.churchofjesuschrist.org/bc/content/shared/content/images/gospel-library/magazine/ensignlp.nfo:o:334e.jpg If you mean how many miles apart were they; Well, if the Heartland model is correct, the Nephites were in the Land of Nephi at the time, which in this model would be the Tennessee area. The Mulekites would have been in the Nauvoo Illinois / Iowa side as the land of Zarahemla. That would make them approximately 670 miles apart if we go by todays highways.

The United States had the Equator run right through the center. The North Pole axis is moving in a very fast past considering. You can piece the African West portion to fit right in to the Florida outer curve as the Lord caused a great earthquake, after the children of Adam and Eve walked the earth. This divided the countries and will someday be united. There is a current that runs from the upper African coast that runs right into the Florida region. We simply have to stop forcing conclusions that honestly contradict the Book of Mormon TEXT. The text clearly shows that the Lehites landed on the West coast south of the land of Nephi. So the 1830 claim by the Book of Mormon Three Witnesses that the Lehites landed on the west coast of Chile is a factor hard to eliminate. Today's science of ocean gyres, currents and winds supports the coast of Chile being where a ship "driven before the wind" from the Salalah area of Arabia could most likely come if they knew how to steer and stay on the path. www.2bc.info/Misc/Evidences.pdf

FYI - what Sherlock said "after you eliminate all other factors, the one which remains must be the trust" is by itself a logical fallacy. Sir Conan Doyle thought he was smart but in reality he was routinely tricked by 'mediums' and was fooled by the Cottingley Fairies. Not to mention that Sherlock Holmes never deduced anything. He was using induction not deduction. If you are using that Sherlock quote to come up with answers then you could be coming to an unsupported conclusion even if you are using unquestionable evidence and/or true premises. If you use 'deduction' like Sherlock Holmes, that means you are working top-down. Starting with a conclusion and working from there. I don't think that is how you want to portray your 'research'.

Any "Sailing" done was coming back home and most people didn't even understand this just like you Michael.
Everything is a lie. This is the true old world and tribes know but the white man and the black man are having a very tough time with this.

@@Maheonehooestse-HolyFireMan Exactly! The land called America today is the true "Old World", and Native Americans know it, but most people call it the "New World". God created Mankind here. Adam, Eve, Enoch, and Noah lived here. All the continents were one continent at that time, but people couldn't wander too far away because of the dinosaurs and other large predators. Noah built the Arc here and then the Flood happened, which killed all the dinosaurs. When the waters started going back down, Noah and his family ended up on Mt. Ararat clear over in the Middle East. As the waters continued to slowly go down over time, Noah's posterity spread out in all directions without having to worry about dinosaurs anymore. Some people came back to this Old World. And then the one continent split into pieces in the days of Paleg, creating the Atlantic Ocean, which is called the "False Sea" in Egyptian history. People were on North and South America when they split away from Europe and Africa. And ever since then, other people have periodically come in boats back to this Old World. All of these people have contributed to Native American ancestry - the ones who were here before the continents split, and the ones who came by boat afterwards. Native Americans knew all about the various races of mankind throughout the world long before Columbus, as depicted in the colors of the Life Wheel.

@@MichaelP_IsMe There are many things to understand as the order of history was changed and countries have morphed as they would through a dispensation(s). Every 600 years the constellations flipped and changed according to the fate of this realm's destiny. Fate and destiny were from the dark watery root of three and were part of the likeness or image of the eternal realms. We are moving into the end of the great tribulation which started as the seven sacred fires (realms, heavens) were dispersed to the right in late 2015. Peleg or Paleg was the son of Shem or sem (meaning one) it is also seen as the way or name. This is a spiritual type of human who was brought forth in spirit and became teachers of old alongside Noah, yet Noah had not produced these ones. These ones are the generation without a King, in other words immortal or Eternal ones on the pathway to the Great pre-existent One in whom we live in and sing with, resting in the peace of our Father. Yes Everything happened here in the true Old World (the Hopis and neighboring tribes such as the Cheyennes who are brothers have all the pieces and will spring forth in showing little brother the origin of their creation) and those joining this completion of the Material world will realise all along they were living on a corps. When earthly wisdom fell she produced children and she lay as a corps along the whole entirety of Alaska to the coast of Washington, Oregon and California and into Peru. What is referred to as the west coast was known as the south sea. The Red Sea was in Sophia's spine or spinal cavity where the island of California was and where San Juaquin Valley is located now. The Hopis say your mother is your backbone and the grandmothers are in the spine of the earth. California as an island was changed by the heavenly powers and then removed from the maps as late as 1752 or 752 by Ferdnand of Spain as Sophia Wisdom is emerging to become visible so that everyone may see and partake of her expanse for this last cycle. She is a mother and encompasses a womb, and like everybody here in this creation, she grew old and her womb was no longer able to bear anymore children, and her body was failing, that's why you have worldwide cataclysms and disasters. Those tribes who foolishly believe that they can nurture a dying mother back to life is not listening to a powerful prophecy. It must start within the heart and that heart becomes one. This does not involve ritual sacrifices.

The only problem is that they would have been contact with the indigenous civilizations of the time. If there had been long-term contact between Eurasia and North America in the BC, you would have expected to see horses, writing and iron working introduced two millennia earlier. Mesoamerica was the only area to see a fully written language in the Americas. Writing is very useful for civilizations as it keeps records like logistics, weater and astronomical cycle. Iron would be mean better weapons and would lead to an arms race. Iron is also a stronger material for tools. Beasts of burden like horses and cattle would allow for more intensive agriculture and the construction of larger buildings.
This also no evidence of Eurasian crops like wheat which would have been proir to 1492. Native tribes that farmed like Adena culture of the Ohio River Valley would grown and seen a population explosion and they would have recorded that using the Phoenician alphabet.

It seems that all these "denominations" have one piece of the truth, but having that one piece lead them all to believe they were the only ones with the whole truth. Instead, what if each various group has one piece of a much larger puzzle and combined is the whole truth?

Phoenicians have the same exact 'sweat lodge' custom. Our songs speak of our people who left long ago to teach, another group left to find them, they were found and many returned, but much stayed. Why do you think Jesus stood out and spoke the exact teachings we have in our 'sweat lodges' by the ancients of the tribes.

Side note the glacier bounce back south of the great lakes has risen for millenia. Mississippi Valley is still 1200 ft below sea level in tn area. It defiantly was a large population there at one point. Wjat idk is how this info would've made its way back to anyone in holy land. You must find a to ans fro because this book or info didn't live on in tribes . It was prophesied I think right ? It was a leader of Mormons who said God told them this .

Interesting note on the concept of "seas". I've heard people describe the great plains as a "sea". Like the open ocean, if you didn't have a point of reference it was easy to get lost.

16 Then shall ye, who are a remnant of the house of Jacob, go forth among them; and ye shall be in the midst of them who shall be many; and ye shall be among them as a lion among the beasts of the forest, and as a young lion among the flocks of sheep, who, if he goeth through both treadeth down and teareth in pieces, and none can deliver. 3 Ne 20:16
I have no opinion as to where the Book of Mormon peoples lived. But the American Indians aren’t fulfilling this prophecy, while the people of Mexico, Central & South America are.
