I started following you back in March and I’ve been following your advice using MDAIre, taking vitamin C, Collagen peptides, Helocare, and had a full ablative laser in May (Ultra Clear), increase water intake, use color science SPF, stopped using oil on my face, etc, and my almost 54 year old skin looks sooooo much better! So glad I found you and thanks for your dedication to educating us!! I’ve been inspired when you said your skin is a dynamic organ and it’s never to late to start! Many thanks Dr. Kapel! We love you!!
@The_Naughty_Kitten @K1111A • Apparently it super depends on the situation or skin type... Like, it could be somewhat helpful, but depending on the person and the situation, it's not an overall solution. That people tend to be led to believe it is.
100% it’s never too late! I did have to do some catch up after neglecting my skin for years. But given all the cosmetic dermatology treatments available these days I got a second chance. Looking better at 59 than I did at 50!!😊
Yes!! Love you .. this is one of a few UA-camrs I’ve ever seen that truly care about what they’re saying. Imagine somebody answering you while they’re on vacation about vitamins as a follow up to a video. ❤❤❤ Yes shes real.. breath of fresh air
Thanks Dr Kappel, amazing video as usual! I appreciate you pointing out how deeper skin tones are often not understood and just ignored in the medical and beauty industry. Definitely one of the many ways racism is deeply imbedded in our world. It's been awesome to see this changing over the past several years from simple things like cosmetic lines offering a wider range of skin tones with things like foundation and powders, to professionals like yourself doing the work to train and build knowledge. Plus, it's just good for business to serve as much of the population as you can!
Wow! The returning former skin cancer patient's skin looks so healthy, creamy and beautiful. Thank you for the before and afters. We appreciate pics that are taken with the same cosmetic aesthetic, angle and lighting in place. Unfortunately, the method of taking honest clinical pics seems to be few and far between.
Thank you so much. I love how informative your videos are. I especially love that you don’t dumb it down too much for us. I wish you were in Australia. Thanks again. X
Thank you for very useful content. I also interesting is is possible to combine Botox, Radiesse with laser? It would be great idea for video like “My beauty procedures schedule” about what you should do and when (laser before Botox, or wait 2 months after PDO threads or so) Also, I have been using your skin care products and they are AMAZING!
I have noticed skin sagging from ozempic weight loss. Apparently not published yet but dermatologist have noticed from study that people on GLP 1 collagen presenting disorganized. Have you found fraxel to help on patients on these meds?
Hi Dr. Kappel, I wanted to say thank you for the biochemical breakdown of retinol in a previous video, it was awesome. I never thought about it in terms of double arrows (so to speak). Definitely food for thought. I love it when you get hardcore with the science 💝. PS. Posted a video to MDAiRE, hope you will check it out.
Hello, Dr. I had my first dual fraxl laser, which wasn’t painful. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look or feel like a step up from Halo, which I had last year. It’s been two days, and I was only red for a few hours (like Halo); however, it was far more expensive. I will be calling the dermatologist.
Dr Kappel, thanks for all your amazing videos! I had my first ever laser treatment 5 months ago at age 32, which was a fractional ablative CO2 laser and I'm very happy with the results despite the long recovery time. I would like to improve and maintain my results with non-ablative laser treatments in the future and I was wondering how long should I wait to do that and how far apart should the sessions be spaced?
What questions should you ask about fraxel and how would I know I have found the right care provider to do it for me please. Im based in the UK and would like to know x
When I had Fraxel done I blew up like a swollen balloon. My face was unrecognizable for a week. I always wondered why I reacted this way. I just assumed perhaps I had way too much inflammation at that time and reacted horribly to it. Thoughts? I'm scared to do it again. 😢
Find a new provider and vet them thoroughly on their experience using the lasers and treating their patients. Make sure it’s a qualified provider doing your treatments.
So I just had a vbeam to tx some broken capillaries on my face. I want to use a fraxel now! How long should I space these treatments apart. I’m still a little swollen 4 days out from my vbeam.
I love your videos about lasers, I feel so educated about them thanks to you. I have been given a chance to try a laser called "K-laser" and I haven't heard you ever mention it.. am I getting scammed or is it a legit real laser that I should put my coins to?
Hi Dr Kappel, I live on the East Coast and am literally in the parking lot after just having had Ellacore on my mid-face down to my collar bone , and Dual Fraxel on the upper third of my face. I have high pain tolerance and with the numbing injections my experience was that the Ellacore pain level was relatively acceptable. Sure, I felt much of it, particularly at the edges of my face and on the bony structures, but it was tolerable. ( No numbing injections on my neck, is that typical? ) . The Dual non-ablative Fraxel , however, was SO painful. WOWSA. One of the assistants did put some numbing cream all over my face 90 minutes before the procedure, but, oh my gosh, it felt like I had no pain relief. The Dr wants to do ablative Fraxel next time… Yikes! Any suggestions for better pain control? I do not want to go under any anesthesia, nor does he offer it. Thank you so much for your advice.
Do you have to do a series of these if you're just trying to keep collagen and elastin in your skin. I don't have brown spots or deep wrinkles. A few lines around my mouth but not bad for a 49 year old women. I was thinking about doing this for my 50th birthday in February. Gift to myself, but I'm afraid of the downtime and side effects. My husband complains about what my fave looks like after a simple chemical peel! It's soooo annoying!! I know you don't like mucroneedling. I actually love them! My LME goes pretty deep for me, and i just get light swelling and a sunburned look for really just a day and 1/2. No complaints from hubby! 🙄
I asked the question and she said that only thermage needs to be done before fillers. So I got the thermage and sculptura first and I will do Fraxel and maybe more Sculptra in November.
A plastic surgeon recommended a co2 laser 3 times before my wedding. My dermatologist said absolutely not. Now I’m confused. I have very mild rosacea. Can you help explain why this would not be a good choice for me?
Bad idea. That’s way overkill. CO2 is the most aggressive laser that requires a lot of aftercare and downtime/healing. I believe you’d damage your skin if you did 3 treatments. Surgeons do not study the skin like a dermatologist does so they lack education in skin health. Check out Dr kappels other vids. She has a ton on laser education.
Only thermage impacts the fillers. She did sculptra for my mid face and hyluronic type fillers around my temples and chin after thermage knowing that I am planning on more vbeam and fraxel.
I went in to go and get a fraxel treatment last week and the doctor said I don't have the skin type for fraxel. She suggested the pico laser instead but multiple sessions. Unfortunately I don't have the money for multiple sessions so I was heart broken when I couldn't get a once off fraxel. My plan was to go in once a year. I have pigmentation on my forehead from the contraceptive pill and I have slightly olive skin. She said I'm a skin type 4. What setting would one use for my kind of skin?
I’m a type 3 and am recommended pico or moxi usually at multiple lighter settings. My advice is ask for pics of results with similar skin tones. I did the pico and the setting were too high and it caused new pigmentation. I’ve not seen her discuss it, but am having good results with Dermalux led which is a medical one that has medical licensure to treat various things. Dr. Abs has some great videos on this. I did horribly on ones like Omnilux and he discussed in one of his longer videos the differences in bulbs, energy, wavelengths, etc. The machines are cheaper so should be cheaper to do multiple too.
If I was stuck on an island I think I would bring one of those 3d printer lasers. No one is looking at your face when you're alone. You won't have sunscreen. So I would give up my looks 😂
How does the Picosure Pro compare to fraxel dual for collagen stimulation/antiaging. I’m asking because the provider I trust only has Picosure Pro or I’d have to find another provider I’ve never used before for Fraxel Dual (which makes me nervous). But I do want the biggest bang for my buck (I’ve never had laser before and just turned 40 and wanted a bday gift for myself). Thanks!
Doctor! Question! Why would I buy your peptide lip mask when its only one peptide? The ordinary's buffet contains a plethora of peptides for 10% of the price. And the percentages are all effective in The Ordinary's.
Hello, i have been following you for almost a year now. I would like to see if I could get a treatment or more done at your clinic. Do you have an email address where we can talk further? Thank you!

What does she say about oils? Is castor oil bad?Thx!

I had no idea Fraxel could help with skin cancer prevention too. That's such a cool bonus on top of the results!

Awesome content from a highly respected doctor . I can’t thank you enough for all you do to educate us!
I don’t have a fraxel near me. They only offer halo and Moxie which one would you recommend is a little bit more similar to one fraxel ?
Wow! The returning former skin cancer patient's skin looks so healthy, creamy and beautiful.

You're skin is a goal. Your skin looks stunning. Very beautiful and youthful
Absolutely best video on fractal lasers! Thank you so much! Is there any chance you can do a deep dive on CO2 lasers so I really understand it?
What's the difference with Fraxel and Co2 lasers and which one is more effective for 50yrs of age?
Integrity is so hard to find. Thank you so much for being a doctor we can trust
Amazing content - I watch every single morning and booked my first Thermage for this month! Where are your heart earrings from?
with how beautiful you are looking i trust you more than anyone on your advice

Is it ok for olive tone skin? Also does it do anything for sagging skin??
Caution must be used for darker skin tones but for the right patient, with the right provider and settings used this is a great laser to consider!
I would love to do Fraxel, but I live in Arizona and I have not been able to find one qualified doctor to do Fraxel. Very frustrating.
Do you advise against getting lasers like fraxel or vbeam for those on low dose accutane for anti-aging?
How did u get accutane for aging? I’ve seen this is a possibility but don’t know how people get it!

So is the laser hierarchy (low to high strength) Clear n Brilliant, Pico, Fraxel, CO2?
You have the order about right for strength of rejuvenation. We often mix laser treatments to tailor to each patients needs.
