We could have an analogy with Myran , he started very strong on Ultimate with Olimar but then after the nerfs and people gettin overall better , Myran pretty much drop off and have recently appear on the last genesis. The same is happening to Onin where after Smash Con , he got 7th and now 3rd at the Big House.
I love watching Riddles play. Always loved Fatal Fury and Tekken. Seeing Riddles take these characters to the next level in Smash never ceases to amaze me.

I am still searching for this "terrible disadvantage" that Kazuya allegedly has. Wolf has worse disadvantage than Kazuya from what I have seen at the highest level. Did you see how easily Riddles recovered against both Light and Onin, who are very skill edge guarders? I knew this dude was broken on release but he will only ascend, they will find more Kaz tech and he will be unbeatable, this is just a taste.

I know characters lose matchups but Luigi, Steve and Kazuya are maybe the only characters where matchups really dont matter because once they get an opening they can really mess you up and quickly even it up, no matter the matchup. Its scary
I would personally exclude luigi. His recovery is worse than the other two and his base stats are atrocious (2nd slowest air speed, only dedede is slower). Yes he has zero to deaths, but he has more bad matchups and lacks dlc mechanisms (kazuya superarmor and intangible moves, steve making the stage to be big pp)
Anyone that supports Riddles but calls Onin carried is just an idiot. Anyone without salt blinding their vision can see these are both insanely good players who just happen to be abusing broken characters to the fullest.
I know many people hate Kazuya and Steve but you have to admit these two players are CARRYING the character ! It look WAY easier than it is to play like that at TOP level
I'm super happy for riddles because I like him but damn I'm just not happy with what this meta is right now. At this point I'm hoping for a new smash game with a much smaller character roster.
At this point you hardly see 30-40% of the roster, if not more. For a game with such diversity, it hurts to see that there's a large chunk of characters that can barely survive the ever-changing meta (which isn't necessarily a gripe because this happens in most fighting games but then again most fighting games dont have 90 characters). I really wonder how Ultimate will pan out in the next few years and if it can sustain its popularity like melee has (which has almost 4x less characters by comparison and has been out for 21 years).

I wish there were a heavy character, with unreactable 0 to death combo strings, an amazing recovery, a comeback mechanic, a range tool, good drift, good out of Shield options, command grab that can kill at 0. Oh wait….Kazuya
