Take my money. I’m sold! Been wanting a reliable/fuss free car in this segment with a sorted ride and handling and good steering. Gizmos and feature can go to hell.

@@aaronderyl I understand your perspective, and it’s true that having gizmos and advanced features can be appealing. However, from my experience, I’ve found that the fundamentals of a car play a more significant role in overall satisfaction. If the basics like ride and handling , comfort, and reliability are not up to par, buyer’s remorse can set in easily. Regarding the 360-degree camera, I feel that it may not always be as useful as expected, especially in this catagory where the resolution is not up to par. The edges turn up so vague that it does more harm than good. In most cases, relying on rearview mirrors might be more practical when making tight maneuvers. Premium cars with high-resolution 360-degree cameras do offer a better experience, but in the case of this category, a rear camera may be more than sufficient. The only feature I miss are electrically adjustable seats with multiple adjustments. Not even the ventilated seats so much. Gavin, impressive presentation on the Honda Elevate car review! The elegance of the design and the seamless performance showcased are truly captivating. Honda continues to raise the bar, and your insightful analysis highlighted its strengths flawlessly. As someone who values both style and substance, this review hit the mark. Keep up the great work, Autocar India!
Honda's 1.5 Manual is the one to go for Elevate. It has better engines compared to rivals except 1.5 TSI from Volkswagen groups but the TSI has reliability issues. Anyways, the car is comfortable and honda has managed in handling department and body control.
Nice suv with 1.5 engine, leg space comfortable back seat, cvt gearbox, 17inches wheel base& lastly the suv should have 😊automatic gear shifting, the mileage is quite comfortable, seating is with great comfort as per the review😅. Totally a good suv. more over HONDA IS KNOWN FOR ITS QUALITY😅
Being a Honda City 5th Gen ZX CVT owner and considering to add a mid-size SUV to my garage, I was looking forward to the strong hybrid option for Elevate and a couple of features like ventilated seats with power adjustments and electronic parking with auto hold. Panoramic sunroof is not a miss for me as I as I do not open the sunroof at all but the rest does matter!!
Fantastic and a very sensible review by Gavin! Honda checks a lot of lists - 220MM ground clearance, comfort, spacious, large boot and proper Honda driving dynamics. I wish they could elevate the interior a bit(it's time Honda upped the luxury quotient!) Also missing are 360 degree camera(immensely useful in crowded cities and parking spots), memory seat function and cooled seats. I can let go of the panoramic sunroof, but other than that a very compelling SUV. Honda needs to price it correctly if they want to compete in this increasingly overcrowded segment.
An extremely well-articulated review. I appreciate Honda's approach, giving the features that are actually of use and focusing on how the car drives and handles.
Gavin hats off to your review man. Smooth as Silk (or I-vtec)! the music, the enthusiasm, the weather and last but not the least The HONDA. Gavin, I'm jealous of you. Your delivery is natural, with every section flowing seamlessly to the next. The attention paid to Hondas of the past and how Elevate is a "back to form" for Honda is done incredibly well. You've painted a nice story with this review. Brilliant review for a brilliant (potentially COTY?) car. Also, kudos to the camera work. It's either that the Elevate really does look pretty good, or the camera work has flattered it immensely throughout the video.
I had been waiting for drive review of Elevate more nervously than any of my life-changing exam results. I drive a Honda and wanted to upgrade to only a Honda SUV. I desperately wanted it to drive well and to see positive reviews, it's weird but I feel proud and happy. No more confusion. Going for Elevate straightaway.
All is perfect but for a few major omissions - ventilated seats, no interior LED lights, no rain sensing wipers from the City and 360 degree camera system, USB C ports. But they got the fundamentals right. It's spacious too. But it's time Honda gives an option to turbocharge that 1.5L engine.
As expected, it seems like a no nonsense, practical and reliable car which many will appreciate. Safety rating and pricing is the key now though I strongly feel the strong hybrid would've made this perfect.
From the front it's looking like a RR Cullinan's brother. Absolutely the best front in the Crossovers in India. Of course followed by Nexon and Seltos.
Great car! Honda never fails to deliver strong-on-fundamentals and well-deliberated machines. And oh yes, Gavin's great presentation. My admiration for him is in the same league as the legendary Renuka and Hormazd.
The car looks good, interiors look comfortable and elegant, and as per the review the ride and handling is spot on. If petrol is the preferred option, this is a no brainer then, unless Honda price it exorbitantly. The lack of some features maybe a disappointment for some, but it packs in everything needed.
Nicely done Gavin. Nothing wrong with a true blue naturally aspirated block. I am sure it will be a fun to drive car. Hopefully Honda get a fair share if the SUV segment.
As a wrv owner and a Honda fan. Believed me I’m very hesitant to say that this was underwhelming as I was waiting to upgrade since last year. The power train is a dealbreaker.
Despite being less on features than its competition, I truly find the Elevate more appealing. although the real proposition depends on the pricing. Finger crossed 🤞
Good job Gavin.❤. Well my take would be Honda has done a decent job with the Elevate. The interiors are good, the looks are butch, but lack of a turbo charged engine is disappointing even as an option.
Great Review. In my humble opinion Honda is too late to the SUV party just like they were late to the diesel party and by the time they arrived on the scene customers had moved away from diesel. Similar looking SUVs surround us so much these days that popular opinion has started to move away from SUVs back to sedans. (I would only be happy to be proven wrong as I am an SUV owner who wants its resale value to remain high)
Value proposition through mild hybrid can really push their sales high. There is still a craze for Honda but the company is not realising this fact. Few points if they keep in mind, they can still flourish in the Indian market (both the youth and the mid-aged professionals) 1. Panoramic sunroof 2. Strong/mild hybrid (especially the mileage) 3. Pricing (see that they fit inline with Hyundai and Tata segments) 4. 360° camera (a car like Baleno offers that man).
The cabin looks incredibly luxurious...honda has entered this segment at the right time when petrol is claiming market share from diesel powertrains...a 7 seater based on the Elevate would compete directly with the XUV and Hycross
The Elevate surely does add a lot of spice to the already hotly contested segment. This car is feature packed, very comfortable and it could be the new 'Honda City' of its segment. The tried and tested legendary 1.5L iVTEC powers this gentle giant.
Yet another 5 star rated review @Autocar India!! Coming to the new SUV from Honda, I guess this will certainly have takers who rely on the Honda reliability. Also I must point out that, this SUV is all about simplicity and elegance especially with that Navy blue colour. Although it misses on some "NEW GEN" features, it has got the interiors which are just spot on like any other Honda added with good ground clearance. Coming to the engine part, Hmm yes , it doesn't have a powerful turbo under the hood. But we are yet to know how the complicated turbo engines withstand the new E20 fuel. And this i-vtec is a tried and tested sweet revving unit with 6 speed manual/7 speed cvt. NA engines with manual gearbox are still fun to drive! Personally for me, I would choose this over the competition.
Car looks absolutely great and seems like it’s sorted dynamically. The engine isn’t the quickest around but is proven and very reliable. Should be a no brainer for people looking at a commuter car.
Nice presentation. Wish Elevate had more features like front ventilated seats, height adjustment, 360 Degree Camera Tyre Pressure monitoring system(TPMS) which have become quite essential and useful to driving enthusiasts. Would say that for a new model SUV launch , these features are imperatives and no longer a luxury!
Nice car! However, It looks like Honda doesn't want to compete with others at all! This car would have been a benchmark in maybe 2015, but today we need more. I don't know why but I constantly kept comparing it with Creta, and I can't see this car even reaching the bar that creta has set for this segment. Take an example of Hyundai Exter. With Tata Punch already rocking the market when Hyundai introduced the Exter to the market, it surely thought of "what more I can provide that the Punch doesn't have". I think Hyundai Exter has delivered it well. Now, with Honda Elevate I don't see this happening. Honda should have thought "Do I at least provide what's there in the market?" Finally, If we don't compare this car with other models then this is a wonderful car. Loyal Honda lovers are going to love it.
@@VishalSharma-hx7kg It's not about flashy accessories, it's about what you get for the money you are putting in! From customers' perspective it's about what all options are available. Naturally aspirated 1.5 ltr Petrol engine is surely great, still if someone is putting more that 12L in a car, and he wants to go for a Turbocharged engine then there's no option. While buying a car, running on a tight budget , everyone has to compromise a feature with some other feature in the variants of the same car. But while going for the top model when someone wants the "Mechanical excellence" of the Honda, but also wants ventilated seats, electronic seat adjustments, navigation system which are the basics of Top SUV variants, then Honda is not providing that option at all. Do you get it?
@@chaitanyabhalerao8259Creta / Seltos are Tin cans which get sold in India because Indians prefer useless features rather than Structural rigidity / driving experience / mechanical reliability. Just because Koreans sell Tin cans at 20 L just by dumping features doesn’t mean Japanese/ Germans need to do the same and fool the ppl
I don't know man, it looks like a botched up hatchback or a compact SUV. Easy going, no nonsense car, reliable but definitely not ground breaking or benchmark making. Definitely suited more for adults who wants a reliable car and don't care much for any latest features.
Anyone who wants to buy a compact suv will just buy the elevate now Bigger car, better engine , more ground clearance. Bigger touchscreen , so anyone with a lower budget mid size suv buyer or a top model compact sub buyer can buy the elevate
It's the price point which will make it a hit pretty sure it'll be cheaper than even autocars expected price because of the lack of features which would be fantastic
7:39 UNPOPULAR OPINION: The problem with offering too many features is that it becomes way too complicated to maintain them and repair them if and once they go wrong or become faulty. The reason why Honda and Toyota vehicles and to a point even Suzuki vehicles have lasted longer than their competitors from other countries is because of the strong policy of keeping things as simple as possible but keeping the foundation of basics strong. For me the infotainment system is just chef’s kiss and i would take it over the Creta’s or Seltos’s infotainment system. I hate panoramic sunroof because in India, out of 12 months, we have excruciating heat and humidity for like 7-8 months and we have so much pollution. And Honda’s ac system and their seat quality is so great, that you actually do not need ventilated seats. Elevate is like the perfect car for me. Sticking to old school feel and high quality with the features that keep it just modern enough to be relevant in today’s times.
It always puzzles me on why and how Honda lost its game. I mean a car maker with iconic products like the City, Civic, Type -R, CRV somehow lost track with their India business. Even the last gen CRV till date is an advanced SUV that can easily crush the 'Wanna Be Raised Hatches' here. I know it was sold at a premium but Honda could have localized that platform and built a 5 seater/ 7 seater variant positioning it in the 15-25 lacs segment that is hot right now. They have the underlying tech ( Hybrid Engines, good petrol motors, Honda Sense etc) - what they need is a visionary leadership in India who can bring in a slew of cherry picked products. Bring the Tyre-R for instance in limited numbers, It could satisfy the craving of those who are after Octavias or any performance car for a chance with out breaking the bank. Bring the good old Honda back in the game that can compete with the Koreans and Europeans. Bring a few premium offerings like the Tyre-R, Accord Hybrid, CR-V Hybrid while working on the mass market offering like this.
High import duty on foreign made cars and absence of powerful diesel engine. About decade or so back, when diesel was much cheaper, diesel engines were the go to for most people out there.
This with hybrid powertrain would be a really great all-round option in this segment but alas honda doesn't want to go down that path for now atleast 😕
i think the styling inside and out are pretty tastful and well thought out. It doesnt follow the flashy trends with putting screens everywhere. Especially love the analog and digital combo speedo cluster.
Very good review, said everything. I wish if there were the deisel engine to power this one. It is extremely frugal and powerful at the same time. As far as the competition is considered this is really a step down in terms of features, and not to forget people are considering their cars as their 2nd home. Even tata motors is updating their small offerings with class leading features. As a honda the safety rating is expected to be better than that of koreans. Next thing that is about to disappear from hondas stable might be the city.
In future review, can you please share the 0-100 timings for the elevate (both in MT & CVT guise)? And how slow/quick is it compared to NA competition?
as a consumer We dnt need 100 features inside the car which we wont use at all and thats something Honda understands very well. The features are very sophisticated, neat and clean. I have been driving my 2009 Honda City S model and it still feels like butter 😊😊… Surely I will be elevating myself to this one. Honda is true Love ❤️
Design - Everything seems good except front end. Honda should change black box with some chrome dashes or more. Atleast it should be available as accessories. It would work wonders in India.
i m not a fan of autocar but still i always appreciate the intros of them. for any model they introduce it with what the product owners wants to tell to the customers. later they review it. Appreciate the effort first then feedback pattern is always good.
This is indeed an interesting car. Given the miss in features and lack of turbos, I hope the pricing is sensible. Its truly surprising that Honda, which has some great turbos in other markets chose not to go down that line... I'm a little skeptical on the features front too, where the Kia's and Hyundais and MSIL's have a good play
I was a reluctant Honda buyer, having used the older Accords, I felt that new Hondas don’t have the same appeal. Cut to now: I am a city 5th gen owner and am amazed at the car’s ability, one needs to really drive a Honda city/ elevate to understand the downright superiority of the driving experience, buy these cars while you can still buy petrol cars, nobody makes a petrol engine like Honda.

Do compare between Elevate and Kushaq, because we need to know which one is VFM?! And which one is to buy for long term?😊
Car looks absolutely great and seems like it’s sorted dynamically. The engine isn’t the quickest around but is proven and very reliable. Should be a no brainer for people looking at a commuter car.
Good review, covers all aspects. We can expect same from ‘ Autocar’ every time.🎉
Nice presentation. Wish Elevate had more features like front ventilated seats, height adjustment, 360 Degree Camera Tyre Pressure monitoring system(TPMS) which have become quite essential and useful to driving enthusiasts. Would say that for a new model SUV launch , these features are imperatives and no longer a luxury!
so there is not even seat height adjustment and tpms provided in elevate?
@@thurules No such facilities provided.
It doesn't get the rest, but it most certainly gets driver seat height adjustment.
Honda should have thought "Do I at least provide what's there in the market?"
Finally, If we don't compare this car with other models then this is a wonderful car. Loyal Honda lovers are going to love it.
So you prefer disco lights, panoramic sun roofs vs the mechanical excellence and the driving basics. Go for it!
@@chaitanyabhalerao8259 Forget those, It doesnt even get seat height adjustment, height adjustable seat belt, tpms and rear disc brake
@@thurules True man!
Lovely Gavin! Continue to enjoy and admire your reviews! God bless
Gavin's review perfectly on the point ..keep it up👍
I just love the way you deliver the complete information along with the positive and basic pros to have this beast. I was confused but not now
I don't know man, it looks like a botched up hatchback or a compact SUV. Easy going, no nonsense car, reliable but definitely not ground breaking or benchmark making. Definitely suited more for adults who wants a reliable car and don't care much for any latest features.
That's true! Expectations were high.. I don't know how it's going to compete with Creta!
Anyone who wants to buy a compact suv will just buy the elevate now
Bigger car, better engine , more ground clearance. Bigger touchscreen , so anyone with a lower budget mid size suv buyer or a top model compact sub buyer can buy the elevate
It's the price point which will make it a hit pretty sure it'll be cheaper than even autocars expected price because of the lack of features which would be fantastic
Also leaving features aside this thing sounds like a perfect combination of vw and hyundai groups
They're all compact SUVs under 4.4 meters lol
I like the interior most.. specially, seats are beautiful and seems comfortable.. feels airy and fresh.. loved it❤
The fuel economy figures seem okay, while turbo 1.5 engines are quoting 19 and 20kmpl nowadays, they rarely get above 10 in real world conditions.
Love the interior of the Elevate. The gauge cluster looks more classy than the all-digital affair in the Creta.
Yes
Excellent review by Mr. Gavin. As he says about Honda, same thing goes to him. Full of substance and less flash value.
They are giving what's needed for majority of customers. Very practical car
Gavin... Such a Subtle Review of such a Subtle Car. All Love..🖤
Your actual milage on testing Along with arai claimed milage will be more helpful in purchase decision
Great and Graceful review. All the best Honda .. hoping good numbers on sales now
In future review, can you please share the 0-100 timings for the elevate (both in MT & CVT guise)? And how slow/quick is it compared to NA competition?
Seems to be a decent car but few important features missing:-
1. Ventilated seats
2. 360 camera
3. Little old school dashboard
Right on time. Diehard Honda lovers will definitely go for it, who didn't have a good option till now.
The interiors, man! How plush they are..!! 😍
I think I will book this to replace my aging creta! This review just helped me make up my mind.
It was an excellent review from an excellent guy. I own both city and amaze. Soon, Elevate will surely find a place in my garage, too.❤
as a consumer We dnt need 100 features inside the car which we wont use at all and thats something Honda understands very well. The features are very sophisticated, neat and clean.
I have been driving my 2009 Honda City S model and it still feels like butter 😊😊…
Surely I will be elevating myself to this one.
Honda is true Love ❤️
Good to see HCIL back in form...with a blend of new design and Honda's legendary precision engineering!!
A Game changer for Honda in the SUV market in India. Looks like a Good product. ❤ Being Honda Jazz owner, quality & reliability matters.
Design - Everything seems good except front end. Honda should change black box with some chrome dashes or more. Atleast it should be available as accessories. It would work wonders in India.
मेरे पास आज भी BR-V है, 235000 kms चला चुका हूं और पूरा संतोष है। ये गाड़ी मैने Mar-2017 में खरीदी थी। Love you Honda ❤❤
Always look forward to Gavin's reviews.
How's the NVH and external noise levels in the Elevate, Gavin ?
आप ने बहुत अच्छे से इस बेहतरीन गाड़ी का रिव्यू दिया । मैने बहुत से रिव्यू देखे है परंतु आप का शुरुआद के 5 में रहेगा 👍🏻
Premium interior..... elegant.... sophisticated.... and of course rear seat is so specious
i m not a fan of autocar but still i always appreciate the intros of them. for any model they introduce it with what the product owners wants to tell to the customers. later they review it. Appreciate the effort first then feedback pattern is always good.
Hope it is as safe as its German rivals. It's ivtec engine is anyways legendary. Nice presentation team autocar.
Very well presented Gavin 👍
