- The all-new Toyota Innova Hycross is an Innova unlike any before. Looks like mini kia carnival
P
Literally shocked at the amount of space that third row generates🤯
I'd like to know his height. First of all.
Srsly...i also shocked that...third row can hold 3 person esily...wow
King of MPV segment Innova after all
Yeah
Not literally
That 3rd row space was a much needed surprise 😮 kudos to the team ❤
all Toyota needs to do is to not overprice it
Expect 4 lacs delta overcurrent price
thats like asking the sun to not rise tomorrow
Yup

A shoutout to the legendary Diesel engines for always adding that extra oomph to the driving experience, the pushback acceleration from hefty torque will always be missed... be it the 2.2L Dicor of the Safari, or the 3.2L from Ford's Endeavour, or the 2.4L from Toyota, or the 1.3L Fiat's Mulitjet or the 2.2mHawk from Mahindra or the 2.0L Fiat's multijet or the 1.5 TDCI from Ford. Moving on from Diesels won't be easy, we will now either get the performance or the efficiency ,they were best of both the worlds !! Love diesels out and out. Buying a meek 200NM-300NM petrol SUV delivering 6-8kmpl mileage will always be a nightmare for me.
So damn true ! Diesels were the best of both worlds providing good performance at a economical rate. Truly gonna miss them ! I have an innova crysta 2.8L diesel which is a beast ! I can’t think of giving up that engine for this meager engine. That engine puts out 360Nm compared to the 188Nm of the hycross !
Ive a 1.5 diesel venue 240nm torque without breaking the wallet. With the mileage of 13-14 even in cities
Don't forget 2.0 tdi from VW.
A
We are in the final years. We are the last generation who will get a chance to buy, drive and enjoy Diesel powered ICE.
They should bring the corrolla back as well, considering the TNGA platform is here...
They can. But there will be no takers.
Coming soon
There will be Corolla cross over.. Like the other markets
@@seondsilva2842 they should, like virtus and salvia has heated the segment
Coming back with flex engine
Gavin and car both goes smooth. Give it up to Gavin!! Awesome car, awesome review.
A good looking Innova, bound to be a massive success.
It's do or die for them right now
I am very happy with all the changes,
Monocoque construction meaning even lesser body roll, better reachability, lesser blindspot.
FWD meaning better efficiency, it wouldn't be used as a taxi anymore (big w), lesser curb weight, more internal space as no transmission tunnel.
Better road presence, better space. Wider wheelbase meaning even more space!
Trust me with better efficency it will be used even more as a taxi, especially in Delhi region with the 10 year rule on Disel rule.
FWD would make handling worse I think? And why wouldn't it be used as a taxi anymore?
@@hyperterminal_reborn RWD used to help on hills before
Heavy , big quantity Metal, body on frame, Rear wheel drive, Diesel Innova Base model with far more moving parts ,On road comes at 22lac, hence this should come at 18lac on Road, it's meant to kill Safari and Xuv700 actually.
@@hyperterminal_reborn not likely if suspension tuned and body weight balanced with stiffeness to get intact and control
Truly spacious (7-8 seater in true sense), it may not have the punchy mid range but fuel economy is amazing. 12-14 in city 16-18 in highway is really BIG for the car of this size.
No brother the mileage of this car is 21.1 kmpl
You have to add battery replacement cost every 5 to 6 years
@@jayaprakashnarayana6677 nah man it cant be
This Innova will be a huge success if Toyota price it competitively, handle the current Chip shortage situation intelligently, and deliver the bookings as quickly as possible. I am eager to see a diesel engine and a fully electric version of this Innova soon in the future.
companies are slowly phasing out diesel engines.
It's going to sell well irrespective of the pricing.
Competitive pricing? No way, the initial booking amount for innova Hycross of RS.50000 says it all...
There will be no diesel
None of those will happen and it will still sell well.
Believe me or not, my Innova 2012 D2D engine once gave a milage of 18kmpl when driven at 75-85km/hr at highway.
i also extracted 17 kmpl with my 2013 Innova 2.5G diesel
Don't believe
Honda City Hybrid gives 34 kmpl at steady 60 kmph.
Lit one 🔥,, Once again Toyota Bring another beast to rule Indian auto market 🔥🙌
This is the best review so far compared to other reviewers!
Kia should consider bringin in their new Carnival to India, it's one hell of an MPV. Almost a Range Rover in terms of look and interior quality...😍😍
same .
The intro was awesome 💯
Nice review ❤️
It's quite very good but the 1st gen Innova was and is very memorable and pure gold
I Was refreshing Autocar India page since 12:00 pm and it popped up at 12:03 😂
This will FINISH off the Compass, Meridian, Carnival and C5 Aircross. Fantastic car!! Gavin has done a great job with the review as well!!
Lets just hope Toyota prices it well 🤞
Wait till Kia brings in new carnival. it's leagues better and almost looks like a range rover plus all the luxurious interiors Toyota can only dream of giving in India
C5 Aircross has to get started first. Lol.
Heavy , big quantity Metal, body on frame, Rear wheel drive, Diesel Innova Base model with far more moving parts ,On road comes at 22lac, hence this should come at 18lac on Road, it's meant to kill Safari and Xuv700 actually.
Not at all, Diesels have their own advantages including superb long term reliability
Politicians be like....Ah shit here we go again!! 😂
Car looks absolutely loaded but definitely needs bigger tyres to match that butch size.
No, bigger tyres will bump the wheel arch every 2 minutes, because of the bad roads in India. The gap needs to be there so that the tires can move up and down more . But it's true that every indian car model looks very childish because of wheels
Just waiting for the review..from ..AUTOCAR
Toyota nailed this segment
A 'cash cow' for Toyota India. Innova has become more and more expensive with every iteration/upgrade. I would stick to my preference for an ladder frame MUV (Tata Hexa) with a optional 4x4 thrown in given our road conditions especially monsoons..
Eagerly waiting for the GAVIN bro review.
We the fan of you bro review all auto cars in your way so we can enjoy it like driving with you.Thank for the wonderful review autocar.
Very good car because brand like Toyota deserves it. Very good explanation as usual 🙏
6 airbags should have been standard, given the expected (extremely high) price.
Because of the the high tax policy in India. They can't be able to reduce prices of their respective cars.
Toyota Innova Hycross is a complete package of Great Design, Tech Savvy like ADAS, Cool features, Sunroof and practicality. Got an amazing road presence with its SUV look from the front. It’ll definitely a big hit on roads if Toyota price it comparatively on lower side or even same as Crysta. If it costs more than 35 lakhs ex-showroom definitely it’s sales will be affected as people will go with Mahindra XUV 700 as its top model costs ₹30L on road. Plus it got same features and more luxurious interiors.
Hycross is the crossbreed of Innova and Fortuner🤣🤣
Not at all. Both the cars you've mentioned are RWD and Ladder frame whereas Hycross is FWD MONOCOQUE
Its a cross breed of innova and ertiga. Come on..
it doesnt have the fun and power an innova or fortuner gives
Perfect car for long trips . I will get it soon .
love it!🤤 a few more curves in the rear would have take it up a notch or two
Awesome 👌 look mixture of innova & fortuner......I m gonna buy this one...
all i can say i'll be waiting for it's 2nd part because this car is really good
After a long time I saw
Gavin
Making a video 😁
Here comes the real BIG DADDY🔥🔥❤️
It is interesting to see how Toyota dealt with the boot space and 3rd row comfort, despite the vehicle being a strong hybrid 🤔🤔🤔 Generally boot space is compromised in cars like Hyryder, City Hybrid, ETC.
Toyota is the unrival and competition less hybrid king !!
No one can come close !!
Feature wise - Hycross and Look wise - Crysta
This will be the best car and a perfect 7-8 seater if it can be priced within 30 lks on road which looks really tough
That's gonna sell like a piece of cake!!!
One can’t beat old Innova model between 2007 to 2014.
Looks more like bigger GrandVitara, though the features are nice👍
Your review is better than Faisal khan
Exactly, autocar makes best review .... Faisal khan is only focused on acceleration...!
Amazing look man ............... the back looks killer
I didn't notice 360 degree camera. A must for car of this size
Is the tyre size smaller considered to the size of the MPV, is it me only felt
Inniva Hycross will rock!!
The tires look so tiny, other than that there's nothing to blame.
Looks awesome & huge !!! Love it
Fwd,Low profile tyre and Monocoque will be problem for Taxi operators in NorthEast,Kashmir,Ladakh,Himachal And UK,Best review and explanation of feature list compared to others
I'm particularly interested in the base variants with the naturally aspirated 2.0 with CVT gear box. would like ACI to do a TD of that too.
The problem is efficiency it’s petrol in a 2 ton vehicle would barely be 7kmpl average
Yes tru… for any thing base will be good
This is the engine out of toyota rav4. & The engine is one of the most advanced mass produced engines out there. With thermal efficiency reaching 50% this is the pinnacle of japanese engeeneering & capabilities. This is in use since 2017 in north america & many cars there have gone well beyond 600k km without issues with this engine. Although american cars get more highway miles as they drive long distance everywhere they go the country is so big but you can expect 300k easily here. Most of our cars die low km cus of slow city driving while having equal amount of engine hours
Priced rightly... this beast will be the trend setter and pushes back competitors and away EVs for another decade.
This generation of Innova is showing that Toyota is finally moving in the right direction, with a feature rich vehicle built on a modern day monocoque chassis while using the latest of hybrid powertrain which is a great balance of performance/economy. Hoping the last bit on pricing is great as well and this is sure to become a winner.
Each time innova brought new gen.. they simply rejuvenated this product. It seems it is defying the laws of product life cycle. Innova was immortal and now surely will continue to be immortal after so much of added specifications which earlier versions lacked.
Awesome! Just one question. What's the range in Electric mode?
This is not an EV car like 100% batteries got charged by plugged in. It is Hybrid car which cannot be plugged in. However it has two engines, one is Petrol Engine and another one is Electric Motor. Petrol engine normally works for highways/roadways. For Electric motors, there is batteries installed under the car which can get automatically charged during the drive after filling Petrol. Accordingly the electric motor will work to move the car instead the petrol engine. In shot the hybrid technology helps to switch petrol engine to electric motor / electric motor to petrol engine according to the driving conditions to give maximum fuel efficiency.
1) Petrol / Diesel engine vehicles
2) 100% Electric Vehicles (EVs)
3) 100% Electric Vehicles with an additional generator (Range Extended EVs)
4) With Hybrid technology the installed batteries can be charged so that the Electric Motor will work automatically while driving the car for more fuel efficiently instead of Petrol Engine (HEVs). HEVs cannot be plugged in. Need to fill Petrol/ Diesel to apply the Hybrid technology (HEVs).
5) Plug in Hybrid Vehicles with separate EV engine & Petrol engine (PHEVs). Can be plugged in to charge the batteries. Means vehicle can be driven by using electric motor even without the fuel.
Please make a video with all Innovas presenting the evolution across these years!!
A lot of interior features remind me of the top end Toyota Landcruiser.
Except there's no electric, has a quiet and comfortable cabin even while cruising at 160 kmph and has tonnes of power.
Great pricing too! Real game changer.
Now finally Innova got good shape I love the new Innova
If fortuner and innova had a baby
I' so glad for purchasing Innova CRYSTA last year
If its below 35 on road i'll be shocked.
Starts from 22
In 37 we can buy a Scorpio- N + Nexon EV
Hycorss should not go above 21-28 Lacs.
Heavy , big quantity Metal, body on frame, Rear wheel drive, Diesel Innova Base model with far more moving parts ,On road comes at 22lac, hence this should come at 18lac on Road, it's meant to kill Safari and Xuv700 actually.
top end will easily cross 35 onroad. old crysta top is sold at 31L onraod already
@@JamesRodriguez10783 also Kia Carnival Ex showroom is close enough, with diesel, Bigger and even more luxurious
I think not only will the hycross eat into the carnival market but the likes of the GLB. The badge value of a Mercedes is desirable, but this is just too good of a value and a better car in general. It has got more kit on board, excellent ride, unparalleled third row space and of-course it carries the reputation of bulletproof reliability. it will definitely undercut the GLB by at-least 25-30 lakhs.
*by almost 35 lakhs.
Thats a lot of Hype
people will buy innova regardless of the competition as it is the only japanese MPV with reliable and powerful engine.
GREAT VIDEO. WITH MORE LUXURY AND HYBRID BENEFITS. THIS WILL DEMOLISH ITS OWN SEGMENT WHICH NEVER EXISTED IN COMPETITION AND ALSO THE SEGMENT ABOVE.
All that is required for this car or any car to do well in India is the reduction of 28%GST on cars to a more reasonable 4%VAT..!! 😁✌🏼Also, don't forget the insanely high road taxes in some states..! 😬
Finally Toyota is taking Indian market seriously, instead of just rebadging MS vehicles or overpricing Crysta for ages 🙏🙏🙏
Been waiting for this video , it's finally out. Btw First comment 👍. Awesome Work .
not anymore
Concerned about the following:
1. Positioning of the infotainment screen which might obstruct the driver's view.
2. Hybrid system cost of replacement, what is the replacement cost of battery and motor?
3. What happens to the fuel efficiency few years down the line when the hybrid battery fails?
4. How's the performance in ICE only mode?
Need bench seat option for middle row seats, as that will suit need of many families around. as for me 3 row seat would be always folded for that extra luggage space and middle row bench seat would play an important role in that.
"Price will speak for itself"
No matter how much cool build quality, hi-tech features or safety, non will be viable if it's dammn pricy
Because of the the high tax policy in India. They can't be able to reduce prices of their respective cars.
Put larger tyres please...
the back side looks like vitra brezza 2018 model + in some angle it looks like ertiga....
maybe maruti Suzuki plans to make its own version of innova
Fantastic look and amazing technology powered by Toyota trust badge. All areas ticked. In short an amazing car and looking forward for the price range.
225 50R18? That is just 112.5 mm of side wall! Not a smart thing to do on India roads.
Finally a well finished product from toyota in terms of engineering and features. 🔥🔥🔥
Looks stunning
Great
Just to confirm that does the Hycross has digital navigation system so as to navigate with Google maps etc
I feel the third row window size has been decreased. For an MPV, It has to be much bigger to not feel nausea. I feel its too small for three people in the back.
I wonder why the C pillars are becoming so big these days.
The nausea is due to NVH mainly from the diesel engine, misaligned wheels, uneven tires and worn out suspension bushes and dampers.
A bigger wider tyre wd hv made a lot of difference in the way it looks and may be in the ride quality..
and kill fuel economy too.
nobody will buy 4x2 fortuner then lol
this thing looks awesome
No rear wheel drive, means the whole enthusiasm of Innova is gone..
welcome to bangalore, they should have given same previous engine power train.
Nice review. How many gears in the auto-gear?
Comprehensive review!
The third row is usable not just for kids but also for adults and seats three persons... Only thing is the auto gear setup position is unappealing....nice to see 👍
Wished it would had been named as qualis it would have refreshed those old memories those gear lever & dashbord reminds of that qualis it wold haven truely iconic & nostalgic
Absolute Stunner
What is the cycle that is employed in regular petrol engines? If it is not Atkinson, then why do manufacturers not deploy it in cars in the 5 to 15 lakhs price bracket? Hope AutoCar replies to my question.
Can you please do a comparison video between the Hycross and the new Kia Carnival. You did one between the Innova and Carnival sometime back which was amazing and informative and inspiring as well. Thank you
For a car at this price, It should have had a multi-link rear suspension.
And double wishbone front too. Scorpio has it.
@autocarindia can you guys can comment on ford india comeback is the rumors are true will we able to see new endeavour on indian roads via CBU route ?
Indonesian car 👍👍 and born in Indonesia since 1977 named Toyota kijang ....and now Toyota kijang Innova zenix ....
DAMN. this was smooth.
Nice review! Two questions - (1) why do companies offer their top variants only with captain seats? There are many who want the same specs with a bench seat in the middle row. It's a deal-breaker at times. Some go for a middle seat as an accessory from the local shops. Isn't it ridiculous? (2) Isn't Android Auto wireless in Hycross? You said that Apple Car Play is wireless. Is that so?
It would be interesting to checkout the suspension quality on bad roads and steep hill climb
Innova hycross will Sell like hot cakes in India
Everything is just impeccably superb. The only downside is the size of wheels which does not compliment its beefy body at all.
3 omissions. Navigation is gone. It was fab! Rear seat trays missing. Ideal for placing a laptop or digital device to watch content on long drives. Ability of Rear seat passenger to push the front seat all the way forward thru a latch seems to have gone too.
Camera crew 🔥
Could you maybe comment on the non hybrid GX variant especially 0-100 time, 0-60 time, general drive review etc. compared to hybrid variant and also other petrol vehicles in the category? Thanks.
Tyre size should be 19 at least in the hybrid model. Toyota and Apple are late to bring the latest features in the market, but their long term reliability makes these duos want and die for.... 👍
Bigger the wheels, worse the ride, thinner the tires, more the impact force, bent rims, and heavier wheels hurt fuel efficiency. I actually want a bit more sidewall in those thin tires.
Companies usually don't bring big tyres due to the tendency of a bumpy ride that usually is a side effect of the same, not to mention less fuel economy. I like that the wheel arches that they have provided can accommodate bigger tyres so that if someone really wants to go for that look, they have the option.
Dual tone color of seat covers would have looked great, like in scorpio n
