I just saw this movie and as someone who was a fan of Whitney growing up, Naomi did not disappoint. She had Whitney’s expressions and gestures down. Especially during the performances which we have all seen. It also made me emotional as a fan to see Whitney up there on the screen again, even if it’s not actually her.
Sorry, but she looks nothing like Whitney. So I really wonder how you saw her??

This is an excellent film. Ackie doesn't look like Mrs. Houston but she embodies her role with style and grace. It's a must see.

I was opposed to watching someone portray the late great Whitney Elizabeth Houston. A night out turned into dinner and a movie and I’m not sure what the other movie was, I just remembered it was 3 hours long. I ended seeing this movie with no expectations and Naomi blew my mind. I went home and pulled up all the original videos of Whitney and this movie replicated every performance accurately. Thank you all for representing Whitney’s legacy so well. Her talent is missed, those of us who grew up during this era miss her terribly.
Saw the movie a few days ago. It didn’t tell me anything new that I didn’t already know…but it was still a great
Movie. Naomi really did Whitney justice…she got all the little subtleties down pat…the way Whitney inhales, exhales…her lip syncing was so on point I swear she was actually singing the songs. She could totally be in an angela basset or brandy biopic…cause she looks just like them.

I fell in love with Whitney Houston when I saw her in The Bodyguard. I was obsessed with her music and looks. Around that time I was also raised around the movie "Coming to America" with Eddie Murphy. I thought Whitney was truly a Princess from Africa like Prince Akeem. I wanted a barbie doll like her to add to my collection but they never released one. :(

@@edwardsfamily901 She was chosen based on her knowledge on Whitney and her ability pull off ber mannerisms. Over 200 girls were auditioned and she was selected.
She went through 8 months of training with an accent coach and two movement coaches.
To majority of us (and I say this because I run a Whitney fan group of over 100k people) - she has done a FABULOUS job.
Loved it!
Went to see this film yesterday, while she does not look like Whitney she absolutely NAILED Whitney's mannerisms, the way she talks, Nippy vs Whitney, etc. Definitely one of the best biopic performances that I've seen...I'd rather they cast someone who can act and really embody the role than someone who looks like Whitney. They went for embodiment because that's exactly what Naomi did!
Besides, the producers nailed Whitney's teeth, as Naomi's is not as perfect.

Anyone remember the other whitney film that came out a few years ago? I remember being disappointed with it massively. This one was sooo much better but there's still something not quite right. As a true fan, I needed something closer to home in a more intimate way, rather than a quick "this happened so yeah" kind of way.
Also, as much as this actress could pull of the expressions and body language of whitney, it was hard to overlook the lack of facial similarities. They look nothing alike. At times, I though naomi looked like brandy. Worth the watch, but still not as heart felt as I would have preferred

Normally when they do a movie in honor of someone (famous) they would use a person that favors the honored. However, they totally dropped the ball on this one and they have dishonored Whitney just to make more money off of her name. It is a shame that I sit here and look at this woman that has played the role of such a powerful artist but she reminds me nothing of Whitney. I would never go see this movie and if I did I would never pay for it but what I would do is never give this woman her props on this movie. If I watched it, the whole time I would be thinking in the back of my head (first of all of how Clive has something to do with Whitney's sacrifice) why did they pick her to honor Whitney in this manner? WTF were they thinking... But then again, they don't give a damn because all they care about is how much money they will be making smh... I'm disgusted by this chick for even thinking this was ok... Don't buy what you said here because I saw the movie and Naomi did a wonderful job. By the end of the movie I could see why she landed the role. Also, by your logic, if it was just to make more money off of Whitney, couldn't they have picked someone who resembled Whitney more so just to make even more money off of Whitney since that would attract people like you to watch it? It is about talent, and Naomi has it in spades.

I feel like Whitney is so iconic, her singing career and acting career left so much for me to remember and admire for the rest of my lifetime. While Naomi is probably talented she doesn't embody Whitney's essence. Even when she was performing as Whitney singing the national anthem she looked cartoony. Whitney made performing look effortless and yet you felt every word she sang...this actress can't deliver her essence.
Nobody will ever embody another's essence but Ackie's acting was brilliant. Just saw the film. The mannerisms, face expressions, voice change over the years... i think she will win you over if you see the film.
