Good afternoon, I am Brazilian, 31 years old, and I live in São Paulo. I can attest that the arrival of Chinese brands in our market caused a great shock. To give you some context, Brazil imposes surtaxes on imported cars to stimulate its domestic industry. The scenario we have always seen here was that traditional brands such as Volkswagen, Ford, GM, Renault, Honda, Toyota, and Fiat produced locally but sold inferior cars to similar international models for an equal or higher price (converted), using the excuse of high taxes. When the Chinese brands arrived, they brought the price, but above all, unbeatable quality. The disparity was so great that some brands had to reduce their prices by more than 20% (proving the overprice), and then they carried out political lobbying to increase import tariffs, claiming that Chinese cars would destabilize the domestic industry. However, Chinese companies accepted the challenge and then invested billions of dollars in building factories in Brazil (BYD 3.5B USD, for example). I'm loving watching this new dispute between traditional and Chinese car manufacturers. It's already proven that the Brazilian consumer is the one who has the most to gain from this.
I really love your channel, high quality material!!
Best regards from Brazil to you all.

None of these activities above have been able to contain China. The western world tried to hide space travel technologies to China, now China has a working space station, journeys to the far side of the moon and dropped a rover on Mars. Its likely they will do something outrageous soon, beyond the imagination of the west.

Counties and county-level cities form the backbone of China’s urban structure. Over recent years, however, these areas are gradually shrinking, with many predicted to eventually disappear. This has sparked an online discussion for nearly three years, pointing out signs of collapse: population loss, crumbling finances, plummeting property prices, and stalled public services. A popular online article even stated, “In our lifetimes, we may witness a wave of county-level cities disappear entirely.”

As a person that left Germany 11 months ago its a bit scary in Germany. I loved the Germans. Logical, sensible and decent ethics. BUT OMG the AFD is getting a 30% foothold because the economy is in trouble and its the old "blame the migrant" solution again. It's a repeat of Brexit in the Uk, and trumps in the US. Protectionism 101 basically.
Then again you cant buy property in Asia or start a company in Asia ( without 51% ownership from a Chinese partner ). You can in EU, US and Australia etc IF your Chinese. I cant believe the EU is so dumb. But the Anglosphere is hoping for the money fro, Asia to flow into the EU etc. Spain is at 32 % foreign property purchases with cash. Australia's at 52 % foreign property purchase sboth cash. Asia is buying Europe, etc as they have so many USD from selling shit to the EU and USA.
Instead of tariffs, which is a a handout to local companies to pump up prices and then make the rich richer and the poor poorer, the idiot governments should be limiting freedom of purchasing. Same as freedom of movement. If you not in the Club you cant buy. Asia has been dong it to EU for decade. Also get rid of the golden parachutes Scheme . it's so disgusting to sell passports at 1 million a pop to Russians and Chinese so they can get Permanent residency in the EU. Just another sick side of the governments there going for the EASY short term gains. People in Europe deserve more forward thinking governments. Maybe that why communist china has an advantage - planned economies that think further then the 3 year election cycle ?
I used to work for Audi and the Germany government in cyber security.

I'm an American, retired and living in Amman, Jordan. Before coming here three years ago, I had hardly ever seen a Chinese car, with the exception of Geely, which entered the Egyptian market in the late nineties or early aughts, when I was living there. In Jordan, I have seen more electric cars and hybrids than I have ever seen anywhere else. More and more of those are Chinese, many of the upscale ones being BYD. About a week ago, BYD started advertising one of its new luxury SUV models with a buy-one-get-one-free offer. I kid you not! The price is about 80,000 JOD for the first car. That's about $113,000. That is, you can get two luxury SUVs for around $56,500 each! That's with the high Jordanian duties!

When president Xi wants China to make automobiles his advisors tell him battery electric vehicles are the best choice. So he tells his officials that he wants battery electric vehicles (BEV). The provincial banks and large city banks lend money to start ups and other automobile companies like crazy. These financial institutions know that many of these companies will go bankrupt but that is the cost of doing business. What follows is a Darwinian hunger games as these auto manufacturers compete to make the least expensive best quality, for the money, BEV. Eventually a few real predators survive BYD, Xoami, Xpeng, Nio, SAIC, Geely……. Then they invite the apex predator in to take part in the biggest automobile market in the world TESLA. This is what they did with Apple in Shenzen.
When Joe Biden wants BEVs he gives billions and billions to Mary Bara (at GM). Mary Bara takes the money and buys back $6 billion USD worth of stocks and that juices the stock price the GM board of directors gives Mary a fat bonus and no electric vehicles gets built but everybody got rich. Before Xi became President in 2014, China had been building automobiles for decades. China was building BMW, Mercedes, GM, etc. and domestic Wuling and Chery. Xi pushed a cleaner, ecologically sustainable future balancing growth with environmental protection. New energy vehicles (NEV) production included BEV, EREV, PHEV, and FCEV manufacturing, but China also created a lot of demand by pushing taxis and rideshare to NEVs, along with government purchases at all levels, and private vehicle registration advantages. China also pushed massive investment in public charging and unified standards, along with renewable power generation.

The Biden Tax Credit for electric cars seems to me designed by bureaucrats, actually twisting the market.
A simple design of it, like $7000 directly at the buy for any BEV, without any other conditions would have worked better.
The car price limit, for example, didn't work well for an OEM who have difficulties producing affordable BEVs.
It actually made Tesla , who could do that, out compete them!
The income limit also made it ineffective. I can understand not wanting to subsidize cars for the rich, but it's actually idiotic!
(And I'm from Sweden, a very socialistic country. We have these tendencies more than most!)

I live in china and my friend works at a factory that makes plastic bottles for shampoo, body wash, lotion, etc... Their business has been booming and is having one of their best years. This is due to the increase in the number of middle class ASEAN countries. Before a bar of soap is good enough for wash hand, face, body, and hair. Now, these new middle class consumers likes to buy hand wash, body wash, shampoo, conditioner, and face wash. I am sure central Asia, Africa, and south America will be their customers in the near future also.

The "West" also completely ignores the major Chinese exhibitions - the US even regards the bi-annual Canton Trade Fair as a "security threat". Presumably the US fears their homeware and furniture exhibitions 😀 Meanwhile, the technology / technical / engineering exhibitions are completely fascinating, especially for those of us who are hobbyists - there are great sales bargains to be had there, and there are shipping specialists in the SAME exhibition, so you can buy your items, and get amazing freight rates for a bulk shipment, rather than paying over the odds for individual freight charges.

The simple reality can be reflected by a spoiled child losing a game of basketball. The brat decides to take the ball away and tells everyone that the new “ rules based order “of the game will allow him to foul while everyone else gets punished. It works for awhile, but soon everyone decides it’s no fun and form their own group to just go play tag in another part of the school yard.
The G7 are fast learning that they’ve self isolated themselves and are losing grounds to everyone else. We’re rapidly becoming the Soviet block with backwards industries and no outside trading partners.

The only reason the Chinese and the rest of the world have caught up to the US is because they "stole" everything or they are "cheating". It IMPOSSIBLE for anyone to really surpass the white US/West so anything we do can never be really wrong. Of course, if we could talk to the Romans, the Brits (not the delusional ones), the Ottomans, the Persians, the Mongols, etc...I'm sure they will have a different take. The only difference is they didn't have nuclear weapons that they can use to blow up the world to prevent their empire's demise. US is potentially a VERY DANGEROUS animal, especially with someone like Trump and his supporters who are racist towards China and backed up by their behavior with tariffs and other actions.

Jayant Bhandari, the well known Indian businessmen explains it very well about why India has always been problematic though that could change. If India isn't careful, they could well populate themselves into economic oblivion if you don't get good economic growth like manufacturing to match the increasing population numbers.

Also much has been spent on militarizing our society despite the shortcomings in defense given by the fact of many mass shootings and theft degeneracy. And our military is basically a welfare program, welfare for the industries it serves and welfare for the people that lack actual manufacturing skills, so the USA mainly hires maintainers, managers, and gradually becomes a pariah globally pursuing its delirious hegemonic status. A majority of the US is aging and so the police state has degraded the overall industrious and creative reputation the USA once held.

The #1 goal of the $1 trillion+ US military budget is to push as much money as possible to the military industrial complex (MIC). The MIC, the Zionists, the Deep State (CIA, FBI, etc...) and the billionaire oligarch donor class are the people in perpetual control of the US. The goal of actually defending the US is secondary especially if maintaining a hegemonic world empire is up there with the #1 goal. This is why you will find $10k hammers still blatantly in defense industry charges to the US government. Nobody cares since it's all about the #1 goal. They should just push wheelbarrows full of $100 bills to the offices of Lockheed Martin for example (builder of the F-35 turkey) and create a meme about how many potholes we are unable to fix (and proud of it) because all the discretionary federal dollars are going to the MIC to show how we have our priorties right (US empire #1, needs of the American people #10 on the priority list). Also we could have lots of posters saying "HA, HA, what are you stupid Americans going to do about it?? We could double the US defense budget to $2 trillion and if you protest, OUR POLICE will kill you...HA HA!!!" Oh and Trump will make it worse. He became very swampy in his first Administration and he defunded the Pentagon Inspector General's office.

The money sweet pockets in EU and USA the so called old money did 30 years ago a so called brilliant move, a move to relocate the financial hub first then industry fallowed to Asia and China as a main course....they did this as life in USA and EU did become stagnated, and Asia was open for taking, second thing was working force in EU and USA was high and full of problems , laws, and restrictions, and that sweet spot $ money $ so over all costs was low. People who live by money every day, dont think about other people, they care about money, who was in control of money flow in EU and USA? they have no attachment to the land and its people, they did not feel the pain, China and Asia got on a rise, going up fast, a lot changed, oh yes they did try to slow down the China growth, they failed, China did have that game played before with British Empire, they did learn the lesson. And now for last about 10 years, Asia is king, taking over S America, Africa-by storm, not with power of military and force, they storming other countries with something new, "good will gestures", they building for these countries roads system, R&R system, sea ports, airports, whole new industrial parks...they take minerals, and buy goods from all over at fair prices....this is not China's colonization, this is cooperation. In trade everything China touches is on the rise, and its not just made in China, China do not build industrial hubs all over EU, Africa, S America, Australia, and others, to stay empty...no they bring jobs with it, then the trade, and then the wealth.Look at the rise of Africa countries, look.- is insane what is going on.TH

The crazy part is that there are things that the West produces, which the Chinese would love to buy. Advanced semiconductors, lithography equipment, jet engines, turbines, a lot of stuff that the West refuses to sell because something something "dual use technology" "national security". So the Chinese are going to have to build those things themselves, and when they do, they'll do it cheaper, and then they'll take over those markets, too. It's not just that the West are failing to enter into new markets, but they're actively forfeiting existing markets.
