Super documentary! Btw the trams are Czech (Czechoslovak) production. Those with rounded edges are Tatra T3 series, maybe the most ever produced tram type in the world in the years 1960-89. The angular shaped ones are, I guess, Tatra T6 (1983-2000). The thing is they weren't only exported to the USSR as new but the Czech traffic enterprises sell their withdrawn trams to the Ukraine till this day.
It's my hometown. I never knew that someone could be surprised by our trams:) Thank you) I should say, that parts of these video were filmed in the worthiest parts of the road. I think majority are not like that. And also It is completely safe to use a tram in Kharkiv. I have never experienced a derailment in Kharkiv. Also, our trams are very fun, like in the amusement park :)
I liked trams in Kharkiv! They looked very used, but they are in function and it was characteristic. I meet there a lot of friendly people and hope, that all will are be like before the stupid war of russia.
I just finished to watch this film, and I have to say I have never seen anything like this. The conditions of the tracks … this cannot possibly be safe. You seem to have witnessed at least two derailments, which I find really scary. What are the plans for the future though? Are there plans to upgrade the infrastructure? Thanks again for posting this film!
the infrastructure is being upgraded, but really slowly. they change the rails in some places, so it's not like nothing is being done. but I have to admit that it could've been better
OMG- those T3 trams! Did they buy offroad version??? Anyway- T3 is classic of design!- its 60 years old design now, and still looks so cute! We love them here in Prague much more than any of the later models-if they are taken care of well, they are still beautiful
Interesting about this video is that these trams were produced in Czechoslovakia, Tatra factory. Ukraine bought many used ones especially the type T3 for their cities. It was in 2014 I think and after only 4 years of use in UA, they are in much worse conditions than in Prague after 30 years of using. But this robust model can survive almost everything. Even if there would be some rails missing, I think they would work too.
Yes, youre right...its amazing how a T3 change his condition, when it arrive as second-hand-car after 30 years of travel the area of Ukraine. I dont know, why they cant handle such good trams, that they look like good condition also after some years! Its interesting to see, how Tatras can travel...but iam very sad about it, that this is in middle of europe!
It is a real tribute to the resilience of the tramway system that it continues to function under non-existent track maintenance. I have seen similar track conditions in Kolkata, India. They still manage to provide a daily public transport service.
*This is shocking how somebody run public transport...* Passengers is still permanent in danger... I have a question: pasengers for this pays money or takes money? The Terminator would bow before what the Czechoslovak Tatra trams must endure.

I know, that UA is in eastern Europe. That's the reason, why I wrote it. And trams in both countries are from Czechoslovakia. UA can buy new spare parts from CZ, but Korea don't have access to them. And Korea still have infrastructure and vehicles in better condition.

Old Czechoslovakian trams are very rugged and surviving even very rough handling like there in Kharkiv. Due to their great reputation, easy to maintenance and reliability Czech trams were/are exported to many countries worldwide.
With the poor condition of the tracks there must be derailments almost daily. I understand that the city hasn't much money to spend on these trams, but in some areas they would be the only transportation for people who cannot afford cars. No transportation means that people can't get to work. An investment for improving the trams would pay off in the long run, but politicians only look ahead to the next election.

Jo
It is there since that tram has been brought to Ukraine LOL.
T3 and T4
@22:23
at first I though the person showing video was joking but nope that was actually being used.
I was watching that with opened mouth, that is absolutely crazy, I don't understand how such thing can be legal. :-D

Completely safe, yeah. 237 cases of derailment and tram drift in only 9 months of 2018.
I just finished to watch this film, and I have to say I have never seen anything like this. The conditions of the tracks … this cannot possibly be safe. You seem to have witnessed at least two derailments, which I find really scary. What are the plans for the future though? Are there plans to upgrade the infrastructure? Thanks again for posting this film!
the infrastructure is being upgraded, but really slowly. they change the rails in some places, so it's not like nothing is being done. but I have to admit that it could've been better
it could not be better
the city is very poor so there is no money for renovation
but the people there dont feel scared driving in those trams, even when i comes to an accident
It's Ukraine, man😂😂
OMG- those T3 trams! Did they buy offroad version???
Anyway- T3 is classic of design!- its 60 years old design now, and still looks so cute!
We love them here in Prague much more than any of the later models-if they are taken care of well, they are still beautiful
I personally like the new t15 better
@@TomanekJan T15 is nice, ,much better than any model that was supposed to replace T3...... but T3 is a style icon.!
I also think that these old one are very cute)))
exactly, T15s are modern and nice… but T3 is a style icon! good design age well
Interesting about this video is that these trams were produced in Czechoslovakia, Tatra factory.

Cannot believe what I see here. It is a tram abuse. Great documentary.
It is a real tribute to the resilience of the tramway system that it continues to function under non-existent track maintenance. I have seen similar track conditions in Kolkata, India. They still manage to provide a daily public transport service.
At least trams in Kharkiv are more interesting than the ones in Kolkata. I'd say Kolkata has one of the world's most boring trams

Yes, but Kharkiv in in europe! :-D ...you have right words. but actual they have some small reconstructions in Kharkiv, but i dont know about quality! Look in video at minute 34:30...its a fresh reconstructed track, but its broken after some days :-D
KT4Dani Hi. You are right. Tracks are welded with arc welders probably from hobby market. What a stupidity. It is not welded, but glued. They should use thermite. I know, that UA is in eastern Europe. That's the reason, why I wrote it. And trams in both countries are from Czechoslovakia. UA can buy new spare parts from CZ, but Korea don't have access to them. And Korea still have infrastructure and vehicles in better condition.
In other Ukrainian and Russian towns tram systems are worse than Kharkiv. It's not so bad here😂
I visited Kiev, Odessa and Lviv, and it seemed very similar there. I just have the impression that the trams went there more carefully and slower. Only Lviv in places resembled normal cities in Europe.
Trolleybuses are in a lot better condition (they even bought some lmao), underground is more or less ok, trams are terrible, buses should be all burned
I think it's unbelievable on what trails were Tatra trams able to run. Sure, they were damaged more and more, but I can't imagine how a new model trams would run on those roads... Well, now there's probably no tracks at all :(
