Super great! Gracias!
Hi! I started to see your videos, I have finished my second djembe and i wanted to thank you after seeig this i feel very inspired to try to do the whole set of dundun drums as a future project. One question, instead of using steal barrel, i am thinking to do it with pvc tubes, do you think the the iron rings could hold tight? i see the barrel surface is not flat as a pvc tube. Im not quite sure about the lenght of the ring. Thank so much for sharing your art!
Very skillful work. Is there just one hole drilled in the centre on the side of drum? Is that for the sound to escape?
oh so good job
Awesome work! What knots, and stringing pattern did you use? I may give this a go.
man, your crazy! sub'd/liked :-) this world needs MORE crazy-like-this!! gracie' I build catamarans, and you should try to build one, next. Heyyy....anybody can make one! haaaaaaaaaa buona fortuna!
Namaste! 🙏 the instrument you are making is called "Dhol" in my Language.. it's traditional Indian instrument and made exactly same way...!! Dhol is popular in almost every state of Indian Republic mostly in Gujarat, Punjab, Rajasthan, Maharashtra...
Interesning! How do you play DHOL? What kind of sticks you use? I saw something similar when I was traveling in India.

Please make a video that how to make Punjabi Dhol with oil container ...plz plz plz
nice
Nice. I have one made out of a metal drum. Just wish I can find away to soften the ring. The drum rings with overtones. Thinking of opening the drum and lining the inside.
ઙ
I'm going to make one of these, and to stop the ringing, I will stick a flat piece of sponge around the outside, maybe half inch or 3/4 thick, and then cover that with dark colored kinte cloth. I think that will work.
Update. I did it. I made the sangban this size, and the dundunba with a bigger barrel.
There's still a little extra vibration, but it's minimal. I believe if I had stuck a layer of sponge inside it would have done the trick
I used 1" thick sponge
Good job 👍
Hello from Greece! Great work you do! And great video! Thank you for sharing! I am a doundoun dance teacher and wanting to make my own doundouns for a while...lightweight (but sturdy) and tall (60-65cm)..Any tips on where I can find tall barrels and more important where to purchase appropriate skins (in Europe)?
Hey! Greetings from Lithuania. You can try visiting Auto repair workshops/servises, they usualy use oils and throw barrels away or sell them very cheap. The barrel I used is about the size you want (60-65cm). For the skins i suggest you to ask at your local music store first, then try to find any luthiers that makes or repairs drums. Or you can order skins online.
Thank you for reply! Do you have an online source to suggest for bying the skins? I ve researched a bit haven't found anything yet
@@anasadance You should find Bibiche Sambou T. Fakoly on Facebook or Instagram, tell him 'Banbu' and 'Afrikos bugnai' recomended. I'm shure he will help you to purcase the skin. Also he can advise you a lot about african drums, playing and dancing. He's great djembefola and drum maker.

how much will it cost for you to make a African djmbe
I'm not making djembes anymore, because in my country there is no good wood for djembe. But I could make it for 200 eur and above.

If is a clothes or not?
It's covered with cow's skin
Perfect job Brother 👍
Hi! Which thick and lenght are the cords you used? thanks
Hey, this is 6mm rope. Lenght depends on how many knots you make on the rings. Simple formula: number of knots on the ring * drum lenght * 2 = your rope lenght. Of course add a few meters extra.
What size steel rod is used for this project and on djembe
Here I used 8mm steel rod. Usually 6mm is used on djembe, as well as 8mm (mostly on high end djembes)
@ im 16 amd im making my own djembe almost finished
@@joshee340 Nice! I made my first djembe also when I was 16. Keep going! :)
@ what length rope is needed for both the knots and the verticals plus a rope wrap
@@joshee340 It depends on how many knots you are going to make. Usually it takes about 30-40 meters.
Nice
Thanks!
