Even though Steven said he didn't believe the report while downstairs with the guests, it's obvious he did believe it by the way he acted toward Betty when he went upstairs. None of that needed to happen if he'd just gone to Betty first.
@@denisewells4161 True, and she tried to that first night, but Steven wouldn't let her talk because he was so excited about his burgeoning political career.
I feel for Steven and my heart hurts for him. All his life he was rejected by his real mother and grandfather, but he was so wrong doing what he did about that letter. Betty was also wrong for not coming to Steven about it.
A woman with a past could harm an ambitious man’s future. Betty happened to unknowingly shared an apartment with a kept woman. A friend of the man’s mistook Betty as a swinger. He was embarrassed when he found out he was wrong and he gave money to use for ticket back home. A neighbor witnessed him giving her the money.
@ @janel.8921 - It makes me smile when someone replies to one of my old comments. I watched the entire Peyton Place series seven years ago. I might need to go back and watch it, again.
That damned Rodney Harrington is like the Serpent in the Garden of Eden! How dare he follow Betty upstairs to her private bedroom, closing the door behind him as though it's HIS BEDROOM IN HIS HOUSE, then blaming Steven, instigating that Betty pack her bags to leave Steven!!!
Steven deserves blame! HE should have gone upstairs with Betty, but he didn't. He sat down and had a drink! What he did was unconscionable. There was no excuse for it. He humiliated Betty in front of the Peyton Place elite and the Lt. Governor, just as Mr. Peyton knew he would. He played right into Mr. Peyton's hands. What a heartless idiot!
@@denisewells4161 They were doing NOTHING wrong! Steven should have been with her, especially after the way he humiliated Betty. From this point on, I have no use for Steven. He starts treating Betty like a commodity, not a woman he is supposed to love. He gets worse as it goes on.
@@suki44883 It's a horrible portrait and I guess you explained why it was so "pale". The face was ghostly (ghastly) white and it wasn't even pretty compared to how pretty Betty is in real life. I guess it was Betty's night to be insulted all the way around. :(
Betty should have known better than to trust Leslie, he was going to show that report whether or not he read the will!!! She should have told Steven of his plans!!
I can’t stand the evil Mr Peyton, the knuckle head Rodney, rotten to the core Leslie and now pathetic Betty, and the storyline of Rachel and Chandler and now the changing characters of Connie and DrRossi! Shall I stay on and watch? Only to watch Matthew grow up and see how Steven fares from here. And for good ole Ada!!!😃
Oh get lost Rodney! Trying to be a hero? When Betty was your wife, how did you treat her? Why do you think the divorce happened? You didn’t stand up to your father Leslie. Hypocrite! At least Steven stands up to Mr Peyton. Why does Mr Peyton hate Steven? It’s because he’s the illegitimate son of Catherine which reminds everyone of her shame and thus the shame brought upon Mr Peyton. So he is bent on destroying Steven. He doesn’t have to destroy Ann Howard because she’s already dead. Otherwise I am sure Mr Peyton will make sure she’s destroyed
He has become a monster since he found out he is a Peyton. He is wallowing in self-pity. What he did to Betty was unforgivable. If I were Betty I would have left him right then and there.
Now I know why I'm addicted to watching PP, it's because of MP, Betty, Steven and Rodney.
What a convoluted episode! Go Betty, stand up for yourself!
Excellent episode 😍

I'm so disappointed in Steven. He wasn't married to Betty when she made the trip to New York. I guess it's a sign of the times.

Betty's hair looks horrendous in that portrait.......

It isn't the finished portrait. Martin said it was a pale example of the original. We will see the portrait as it is improved and finally finished.

Steven is acting just like Hannah!
Martin Peyton is Iago in Othello.
Come on Stephen, buck up. It's not that bad what she did. It's worse what Peyton is doing if only you knew.
Rodney's a fine one to talk.
People jump to conclusions when communication and compassion goes missing
Betty looks a little like Liz Taylor in that red dress sitting in the shadows. Is anyone here on 11/2023?
Yes, on December 16, 2024.

He does like her, but he believes she still loves Rodney. He wants them together because Betty has the drive and ambition he believes Rodney needs.
