Is there any 9th gen aftermarket android auto? Seems like there are lot of 8th and 10th gen but no 9th gen. If you can do the tutorial on 9tb gen civic, it will be awesome
I have this installed in my 2018 civic lx and it's working really well. I think it came preloaded set to a European radio tuner, but there are 2 American options in the factory settings that fix the problem. Reboot and you can find your local stations and customize 18 presets. Mine didn't come set on eastern standard time, either, but that was also a quick fix. I uploaded a few wallpapers and moved some icons to make it a little personalized. You need to buy a separate dongle to use apple carplay or android auto, but it's nice to have. The backup camera works great and provides easy access to all 4 views. The instant boot is real. It's 2 seconds or less if it hasn't shut down, which mine is set to sleep in 1 hour. A fresh startup takes maybe 15 seconds. Idk. My honest opinion? This thing totally blows away the 7" touchscreen in the ex. Obviously. Maybe the sound quality is better is something made by alpine or another name brand? It's probably true, but this sounds good and also has a wow factor to it. Google maps on a 10" screen is just so easy to use. Whatever. I like it.
Can you do an updated video on how to activate android auto/car play for this unit? I'm legit considering getting this one in a few weeks. I just bought an lx civic 2019 hatchback and didn't want to pay an extra 3g for the "sport" model with the same engine lol
@@TheHgutz Aside from your initial response, what do any of your other responses have to do with the comment you're responding to? Also, fairly certain this HU comes with all necessary adapters.
Going to purchase this head unit. Was curious about using the stock microphone thats built in the car with the head unit vs installing the one that comes with it. I really like the stock microphone
Great video John. Im looking into getting a 2016 civic ex so this looks like its a good buy for it I especially like the different reverse camera angles
John Nguyen I know, part of the reason I'm getting one. The one I'm looking at is fully kitted out. Only thing it needs is some jdm rear bumper valance, the jdm front grill, rear diffuser with third brake light and switch out the halogen to the led headlights and a tune and this android head unit of course
haven't seen the jdm stuff. You got good taste if you switching the headlights out! My favorite thing about the newer civic are those led ones. I seen some company makes affordable ones
Trust me, thats one f the first things I liked when I saw the new models. I'm playing with the idea of looking at some aftermarket ones, still havent decided as yet. Trust me, the jdm rear valancies are vey very nice.
Hey John, thanks for the Video, I got the Dasita android 10, 9" recently for my civic and the backup trajectory was working now I can't get it to work again. Yes the trajectory option is selected to enable. Not sure where to go from here. Any advice?
hey john, awesome video! im now considering buying this unit along with the apple carplay dongle for my lx civic hatch. one question - any issues with it since the install? im hoping that it's a stable system with minimal crashes. thanks!
Yo John! Great video man, I just ordered my unit Right now as I type, just wondering though, as far as the adapter I’m going to need it just because I have an iPhone. Is that the preferred adapter to be used? I was looking at reviews on it and majority as bad, so I was wondering is it safe to still go with the Dasaita adapter?
I have this deck on my 2018 Honda civic ex, but the only thing that doesn't work is the multimedia functionality for the steering wheel. For example when I want to lower or turn up the volume; it doesn't respond at all. Also when I want to change to the next song, I have to use the deck buttons or the display next button icons.
Initially I was trying to install it my type R. So I recorded it. However everything worked besides audio. There was no sound because the Honda amp is full digital
UPDATE: I've been running this head unit for over a year and I will say that it's not without its flaws but for the price and what it actually gives you compared to name brands that are more familiar in the American market to me like pioneer or jvc which cost far more than this head unit the features and function are far superior to anything (at least anything I have seen in person) that would be installed conveniently at car toys or best buy etc. I just had to tinker with settings, apps, launchers, and features to figure out what works and how to make it work in a way that I like and is easy for me. If this post has enough interest I would consider a video of what my settings are and how I use it daily, what I like and what I don't like. Possibly suggestions for making it better. Overall, I would definitely recommend this head unit for anyone with the patience and technical savvy for smoothing out some wrinkles. I wouldn't recommend it for anyone that is hesitant at all about taking their dash apart, wiring and soldering, adjusting developer settings, and just have and expectation that the is going to run perfectly like your iPhone or Samsung, because even those dont work perfectly 100% of the time. I would recommend it if you want to be a bad ass who wows every single person that ever rides in your car because your car radio is and does more that what is in their car. Installed and working just ok. I think I have the settings screwed up somewhere but I wired it just like you did here. Back up camera worked at first but after I made some changes trying to fix an issue with my lights and horn not signaling when I lock the car with the remote the back up cam wont register.

Hi! I have 18 Civic Lx and have been doing alot of research but there are a bunch of units. I know this video is a couple years old. Which unit would you recommend as of today? Greatly appreciated!
Hello, John. Is there any other 10th generation Civic Head units on the market that you recommend that are little cheaper on the 200 to 250 dollar budget range? Great video btw.
So I have a rookie question. I have the same exact 2016 base LX. I bought a Pioneer AVH-210EX 6.2". I am wondering on what all needs to be bought besides the new pioneer unit. I want to retain my current steering wheel functions, USB port and backup camera. Any help would be great!
I have a 2017 Honda Civic hatchback sport 1.5t and I need help in the little box I can only find one plug but in the other side can’t find the other one so my back up camera don’t work and neither my steering wheel control
I saw a TPMS button at the end of the video, does that mean you would still be able to reset the sensors and everything with this head unit? I know this is an old video, but my 2016 display craped out on me recently and I didn't buy an aftermaket because I was worried about TPMS and the sensors not working.
I have the reverse camera connected to the rear view mirror. Do I have to transfer the connection to this new head unit or just connect that 2 rca and it should work already?
I can’t get my side camera to work on my 2017 Honda Civic EX. I can only view it if I go to the AVIN app. How can I switch it so that I can have the side camera to turn on while I put my right turn signal?
I have the base model stereo just as the one on your video, I have ex hatchback. Will I need an additional camera or will this use the OEM rear camera. I want to use everything OEM
So many questions to ask, I’m hoping you or anyone can help with. Got a 2018 hatchback lx. I see a version 9 and version 10. Does it matter which one is installed? Can the software be updated? Does the gps card update when needed? Does it run off an internet connection? Can I install apps that would normally work on a phone?
I'd love to confirm that this works on the EXL - I can't take the stock infotainment system anymore. Either way, I'd like to confirm that this works on the EXL because this seems to tick all the boxes for me - with maybe the slight exception of it seemingly blocking most of the AC vents, but maybe that's not such a big deal - anyone who is willing to weight in on this, I'd be appreciative!
the exl i believe has a special amp you need to bypass. I installed this on a type R and that car too had a special amp so it didnt have any sound. It powered it on and everything.

I just bought a new 2019 honda civic Lx hatchback that has basic "non-touchscreen" 5" display. I love the car, but hate the basic display for backup camera and stereo features. Do you know if my 2019 Civic's model can be upgraded to a larger touchscreen? If so, which ones would affordably work?

You guys need to purchase an apple play dongle from the same company. Plugs right into your USB port. Plug your phone into the dongle and that’s it.
I can't understand why Android Auto would be useful on a full Android head unit....
Best upgrade you can make to the Civic. The one thing that was letting down these cars was the outdated entertainment console.

I’ve read that you need an adapter to use the steering controls
Also you need an Apple car play adapter to connect to the usb, as well as an adapter to connect the radio

@@JohnNguyenVincent thanks for this info! Is this something that's easy to do, or does it require more technical expertise than a novice such as myself might possess? Thanks again!
Do you know of any Android tablets that can replace the display in a 19 accord?
I just bought a new 2019 honda civic Lx hatchback that has basic "non-touchscreen" 5" display. I love the car, but hate the basic display for backup camera and stereo features. Do you know if my 2019 Civic's model can be upgraded to a larger touchscreen? If so, which ones would affordably work?
might as well get the android unit
@@JohnNguyenVincent Thanks hon! Been researching in my town....weird, everyone acting like it's so hard and scratching their head because my car is "too new". But, Civic hatchback base unit radio display & controls are same as when hatchback came out in 2017.
Where are you located? I would love to get this for my civic!

Hi John is this built with apple carplay or not?
Thanks
Nice video! I was looking on this at Amazon too, how much does it cover the AC vents though? Is it affected?
not noticeable at all. Well worth the extra screen size!
John Nguyen great! Thanks... How about the mic? Is it really necessary to have the external one installed or does it have built in? I just prefer a cleaner dash without so many wires going on...
@@JohnNguyenVincent is it really necessary to have the external mic installed? Even if it has a mic at the front of the unit?
I tried acouple of pioneer hu and got everything working except rear view camera.
Is wire harness included? I have 2017Honda Civic Hatchback LX.
