Yeah that sounds beautiful but… I don’t know. The original song was about surviving, getting back in shape, energy, and optimism.
I mean, it was not intended to be sung downtempo with lamenting cellos. A look at the corresponding scene in the Elton John’s biopic confirms that.
It would be interesting to hear whether she played it like that just to make it sound different (aka a cheap trick), or if she wanted to carry another message (like, yeah I am still standing, but barely, and still hurt and sad).

I think it depends on the perception of the one who's listening... I sense such a power in her deep voice, in the tranquil calm way she's telling them that she's standing (with a little twist ;) )

Encore vue sur France 2 au JT aujourd'hui, jamais entendu autant
d'esbroufe de ma vie : entre les instruments qui font style décalé mais
qui servent à rien, sa voix à elle qui est très très limitée (aucun
souffle) et son accent anglais à chier, sérieux, même le "yeah" elle
sait pas le prononcer sans accent français. L'arnaque du siècle, et le
pire c'est que au final elle ne fait que des reprises en fait (pourries,
en plus).
