    yup I have a supersonic 22 w/verb and would love to see you cure that one, The temporary hack I did for playing at home was to wire a pot to two jacks in the fx loop, this helped enough for non band playing. Keep up the good work!

    Lyle it seems like you might not catch an email I sent about a supa-boost pedal i had sent to you from Warehouse Speakers. Just a Thank You for all the work you put into this channel. FedEx says it was delivered. Have learned much from you and Brad.

      Thanks, but I hope it wasn’t sent to the old address on the website (since removed). I never expected people to send things to me. I don’t publish my address though Warehouse has it on file. I’ll check for the email.

    Hi! For the Supersonic 22, many people are suggesting substituting the V4 tube (reverb recovery?) with a 12AY7 to lower the noise floor. Is it safe to do this, given that the 12AY7 has a higher plate current? Thanks!

    • @PsionicAudio
      @PsionicAudio  5 днів тому +1

      Won’t hurt anything but it won’t cure the amp’s noise issues. It will be a small move in the right direction though.

    I often watch your videos and I wish I had someone with your knowledge and experience in my vicinity! Out of curiosity, did you ever try to fix the excessive noise problem on a 90s Evil Twin? Most technicians seem to run scared of that amp!

    • @PsionicAudio
      @PsionicAudio  5 місяців тому +1

      It can be done but it’s relatively expensive. Rebuild the low voltage supply, change all filter caps, mod the reverb circuit, and bypass the effects loop/insert circuits.
      I usually just tell them to get a ‘65 RI TR instead.

      @@PsionicAudio Thanks for your kind reply! Turns out that the reverb circuit is the last revision for that amp from Fender (it's the original non-tremolo one). The amp spent most of its life in a studio, basically unplayed from new, so the filter caps may not need to be changed. Interesting to know that bypassing the effects loop circuit and rebuilding the low wattage supply can reduce the hum, that could be something worth a try!

    Hmm seems like a major change but if it was as noisy as you intimated it may well be worth it!

    Lyle I own a Supersonic 22, have wondered about how to lower the noise floor for years. If you get one on the bench I'd love for a breakdown on how to fix this problem on that amp. Thanks, huge fan love the channel!

      A simple fix for me was a JHS black box in the effects loop, makes the amp much quieter and also means you can crank the preamp

    Lyle would this mod be relevant for the Supersonic 60 Watt Combo? I don't really like the noise floor on mine. I'll have to check my schematic.

    Are the older Fender prosonic amps as bad as these for noise floor? Just curious. Never played one, but I have seen some guys I listen to play them in stereo with their AC30TBX.

      I have a 1997 prosonic and it is dead quite. I aslo have a 1999 ac30tbx and has the hum. But also have a super sonic 60 and definitely hums. I totally bypassed the fx loop and reverb and now is almost dead silent
