This video delves into the history and significance of a ruined ancient Shiva temple situated in Kanchipuram, near Chennai. While many Shiva temples feature the deity in his iconic linga form, this temple is unique for its depiction of Shiva in human form. Out of the 64 human manifestations of Shiva, this temple is dedicated to the 58th form.
Sadly, due to lack of maintenance and encroachment on the temple grounds, this sacred site has fallen into disrepair. The human form of Shiva is now partially broken and exposed to the elements.
ShriGuru Vamanan Seshadri, renowned for his efforts in reviving old temples, particularly Shiva temples, is calling on all devotees and sivanadiars (followers of Shiva) to participate in 'ulavarapani,' a temple cleaning initiative. The goal is to restore and preserve this unique Shiva temple, ensuring that the human form of Shiva is at least sheltered and protected.
