  • Russillo recaps some notable NBA games he watched lately, including the Warriors losing to the Suns after Draymond Green got ejected for punching Jusuf Nurkic in the face. He talks about what it means for the Warriors' title window and whether it's finally fair to write them off. Then he talks about the Mavs beating the Lakers, the Suns potentially getting their Big Three all playing at the same time, and the latest criticisms of Zion Williamson's physical shape.

There was an Australian Footballer, Barry Hall, who used to do dumb sh*t like Draymond.
After a few incidents, his own team suspended him for the season and then traded him. His captain said 'I trust him with my kids, I just don't trust him on the field'.
In short, the Warriors need to deal with Green before he seriously injures someone.

That’s really interesting cause the comp I immediately thought of was Vontaze Burfict in the NFL. A decade of the Bengals overlooking his psychotic behavior for his production, only for him to seriously cost them in big moments, eventually leading to him being cut from the Raiders in preseason for ANOTHER illegal hit. Seems like the path Draymond is walking rn

Russilo, I love you. I've been listening to you forever. I think you are a brilliant basketball mind relative to the industry on the whole.
You think 25 games is excessive because you are a soft, vaguely fat/slightly in shape, coddled man that hasn't ever really lived through any type of violent adversity.
I'm speaking as a Black man from 7 mile Detroit. I'm a former foster child, put myself through College and played ball up until my Freshman year.
I've also made my fair share of mistakes.
I've been to jail, seen the truly abhorrent aspects of society while also seeing some of the very best aspects of society.
I bring these facts up because when we view these professional athletes and discuss them, the fact is they have real impact on the culture of our society. Especially among the Black American community.
Given the sheer violence on display by every facet of our society, while giving the proper respect and attention to the violence that the Black American community deals with, it seems to me that 25 games would be the bare minimum for a millionaire coddled and effete grown man to have to deal with.
25 games for hitting another grown man?
    Yeah?
    Excessive?
    Really?
Ja Morant with the gunplay? Schools are being shot up on the regular. People and children fucking died.
    25 games is too excessive?
Abhorrent outlook that betrays a lack of empathy because of financial success.
What are we even fucking doing here?
Release Draymond. Suspend Ja Morant for the remainder of the season.
    Their behavior is tacitly unacceptable.

Are you aware of "The Scallenge"? Former NBA benchwarmer Brian Scalabrine taking on the challenge of playing casuals who verbally trashed him 1-on-1. And he annihilates every single one of them. Then brought the excellent quote, "I may suck compared to LeBron, but you suck compared to me." Which is 100 % true. Even if you think that Draymond Green is the worst player in the NBA at this point (which would be a ridiculous take), he would be about the 500th best player in the world. People give Kerr a hard time. But imagine subbing out the best starting lineup from last year? You'd be an idiot. And the politics of it all... But if they warm up and get back to last year, with a better bench than last year.... But they just haven't. Klay and Wiggins are not Klay and Wiggins. Green has literally lost his mind. And the bench are competent but not contenders. Maybe with Curry they're first round exits. But last year best starting lineup in the entire league with a terrible bench. So weird how it's all just completely fallen apart. And personally I can't really blame Kerr for not accepting that a team this good can't pull it together. I mean Klay.... Best three point shooter from last year. He now literally sucks. It makes no sense. Wiggins has fallen off a cliff. Makes no sense. Ah well! Kerr has finally got to make moves though because otherwise he'll have to be fired. So hopefully something good happens 😅

They are like the Toronto Maple Leafs after the 1967 championship. The Leafs won four titles in 6 years and then they were cooked. They traded away Mahovalich without replacing him. Their old players faded and their young players either got traded away for short term help or they just weren't really that good. Two years ago the Warriors were talking about being able to rebuild on the fly and maintain their winning ways. Since then, Wiseman and Poole are gone. Kuminga and Moody don't look at all like stars (or even starters). Wiggins is burned out. Draymon and Klay are old and cooked. The useful veterans on the bench are all gone. Stef is magnificent but the only way the Warriors will be able to rebuild is by trading trading him to a contender for some building blocks.

Doesn’t justify anything Morant did of course-I’ve just always felt uncomfortable with how his situation has been handled by the league vs Draymond’s.
