There are a billion different and better systems than the draft for athletes but if you want to have the glory of the moment to have your name called you either do college or international ball for a year and enter into the draft, and the bias is to draft college players. There's a reason they're paying players NIL money now - these players are realizing their odds of making it in the NBA are better if they play pro before playing in the NBA.
