Listening to Mallory talk about stories has literally changed my life and the way I consume them. She's the best.
The constant tears are what do it lol
Most annoying person ive ever heard talk. You are probably just a simp for her
Rubin is the GOAT, more Mallory moments
Mal and Concepcion is the GOAT duo. I’ll always pay my respects to the guides who carried me through GoT, HP, and Marvel with a level of love and introspection and intelligence. They were my early 30s
Yeah. We need Jason back.
One thing that struck me about the end of ENDGAME that made me emotional was that MCU fans shared in a collective experience for 10 years and it culminated in us all being together for that cultural moment. It was honestly amazing.
Weird to think back that it was only a year before lockdowns, in hindsight how lucky that we didn’t get that ruined
this.
@@jdrummerddeven covid knew to wait
I can’t believe Mallory kept this under 20 mins
Nobody has a better relationship with words and expressing anything more beautifully than Mallory Rubin. Also TY for bringing up the credits with the signatures, that doesn't get brought up enough. That's actually the section where I lost it the most!
I'm not saying Endgame is the greatest movie I've ever seen, but it definitely provided me with the greatest movie theatre experience of my life. And that's something I'll always treasure.
I'll never forget it
Agreed.
Infinity war turned my theater into a rockshow
Same Willie
The Barney movie was slightly better to me
thanks Mal and the Ringer for doing this and allowing us to relive that epic conclusion for another 17 minutes
The theater reactions immediately take me back to opening night and how i absolutely lost it during those moments. No question the best movie experience of my life.
I got goosebumps remembering these moments
I love hearing Mallory talk about my favorite stories. She loves it so much that it helps me feel those feelings again.
Saw Endgame twice in theaters, maybe three times, can't recall. One of my all-time favorite movies. Still amazes me how much more emotional that opening scene was, watching it at home for the first time, with Tony recording the message to Pepper. RDJ was in his bag in that movie. Especially the "I needed you, past tense" scene with Cap.
To me seeing Hawkeye in that cold opening set the tone for what kind of movie we were about to watch. It humanized Clint even more than the barn scene in Ultron.
So happy to get to listen to just Mallory talk about something she loves
Floored when I heard that our hero and master Sean Fennessy took a bathroom break during Avengers Endgame
i think ive listened to you on 1000s of podcasts before and never once did i have any idea what you look like, cool to put a face to the voice and even cooler to listen to your insight on such a momentous moment in movies.
Saw it first night and wow, the theatre was electric. Certain moments like cap picking up Thors hammer, I am iron man… chills man. Probably my favorite theatre experience of all time. It felt like payoff for a decade of movies, breakdown videos, podcasts, etc.
there is nothing better than listening to someone talking about something they are so knowledgeable and passionate about in an entertaining and concise way. Thank you Mallory!
It really is amazing that most fans were mostly happy with the MCU as a whole leading up to Endgame even if there were some stinkers mixed in (Thor 2, for example). Then it all fell apart and everything that came after (except for the Spidey movies) became increasingly divisive.
I'll never forget watching this movie with my friend, and she openly weeping at the funeral scene.
Few movie-going experiences have reached the heights Endgame did.
It doesn't matter how many times I've seen endgame. I get chills every single time Steve Rogers says avengers... Assemble. Every. Single. Time. Just like I get chills every time in Infinity War when Thor comes to wakanda and says bring me Thanos! Chills.
Thank you for this and the other videos in this format. Nice choice of topics and style.
Also - Mallory is fantastically eloquent if I may say.
God I love Mallory. More her plz. How much she loves this stuff is so contagious 💜💜💜
I saw Endgame at 3am & left the theater at 6:30am on the Monday morning after opening weekend. There were people waiting for the next showing at 7am. So 9am isn’t a weird time in my opinion.
Without question, Endgame was the best movie-going experience I've ever had. It felt like Game 7 of the NBA Finals, a back and forth game, plenty of injuries, and yet the home team scores a game-winner in OT on a buzzer beater. Not sure if it's my favorite movie ever, but man to be in a packed movie theatre with that vibe, watching these comic-book characters brought to life in such a beautiful way is an experience I'll never forget. It was only the second movie that my then-girlfriend/now-wife had seen with me, and she was just astounded at how emotional I was lol.
The way she says Tony with passion Reminds of Angela Bower from Who's The Boss. TO-NEEYYY. 😂😂😂😂
Thank you for making me cry Mallory lol awesome video, of a wonderful moment in time.
Hell yeah, as soon as she sat down I prepped myself to share a tear with the inevitable deep emotional insight.
Endgame was the biggest movie event in my 35 years and i adore it so much, endgame also has directly lead to the downturn of marvel. They were at such a high HIGH, you can only go down. And apparently the vast majority of people didnt understand that. That cap with mjolnir scene gets me emotional every damn time.
Mallory is passion and emotion incarnate. Like how a Greek god represents a concept, that’s Mallory for me when it comes to loving fandom
I’d pay to hear the ringer crew convince and launch a pod with Bill Simmons to go full MCU phases journey and watch and review 1 movie with Bill thru to the end of endgame. This has to happen.
So happy to see someone talking about the all the good the MCU has brought to theaters. It was so much fun. Wonderful storytelling as well!
I don't think it really hit me how engaged I was in the MCU until I watched Endgame and I legit cried at set points. It didn't really sink in with me how into each individual's journey I got with each passing movie and the ending in particular...damn that got me. Tony finally got to fight alongside Pepper (she finally wore something he got her) and her last words to him just..DAMN.
To say the MCU has struggled since then is probably an understatement. I don't think they've really stopped to truly plot out what 'next' looks like. I don't think we've had the same approach that we had during The Infinity Saga and even before we get to 'main villain loses his shit and Disney has to fire him', we've had movies but nothing that really got us into the characters like we had the first go round. I think Sam is going to do well as the new Cap, but filling out the rest as we push toward an uncertain Avengers movie is gonna be difficult.
I still to this day believes the last full hour of Endgame is the best I've seen. EVER. Nothing tops it and I'm not sure anything ever will. Including anything the MCU does moving forward.
Not me nearly crying at this video
I literally bruised one of my hands because i was clapping and cheering so much opening night with friends. My favorite movie experience ever ❤
Great takes and appreciate her passion for film. Her voice drives me up the wall.
Why am i still getting chills like the movie released yesterday lmao
Damn, what a time to be alive that was. Pop culture MOMENTS shared, one after the other. If anyone was gonna talk it over, glad it was Mal. ♥️
(Edit: OMG Fennessey, great job w the bathroom break ☠️)
Mallory you're the absolute best.
Why did I cry as she talked about Steve being worthy
Mallory explaining how Iron Man came at a transition point in her life kinda hit home to me since I was just getting out of high school and learning my path. It feels timely that that saga ended when I'm now fully transitioned into adulthood.
I remember leaving the theatre after my first viewing with this strange sense of... closure, I guess. Even then, in the immediate aftermath of seeing it, I sort of knew that was it. I'd obviously still return for my favorite heroes (Spider-Man, the Guardians, now Deadpool, etc.), but a part of me recognized that it would be impossible for Marvel to reach those heights again. And that was fine. "Part of the journey is the end" and the MCU had gotten to it's logical conclusion. So, as a fan of it, it was almost natural for me to close the book on Marvel, cherish the movies we had gotten and not really keep up with the stroy from there on out.
I guess, much like Mallory talks in the video about associating the MCU with the start and progression of her adult life, so do I look at these movies as a formative part of my teenage years and my development as a cinephile and as a young adult in general. And with that, comes the inevitability of letting go. But with Endgame, I've never been sad about it, on the contrary. As a film it is definitely flawed, emotionally manipulative and probably "not cinema" by the Scorsese definition of the term. But it's also one of the most unforgettable communal theatre experiences of my life, and something I'll cherish for as long as I live.
These are most appreciated
Came to the ringer for bill, stayed for mallory
And to think the cultural event that was Avengers: Endgame almost never happened.
Endgame was released in theaters in April 26, 2019.
By December 2019, Covid 19 had spread from China to the rest of Asia and by March 2020, Covid 19 had shut down the whole world as a global pandemic.
"Is this what it feels like to be alive?!"
Mallory is a national treasure.
It’s crazy to me that endgame came right before COVID. Imagine if endgame is postponed cuz of COVID, or gets a COVID release date
Endgame and Game of Thrones season 8 came out at roughly the same time that year. It might have been the last of the so called “monoculture” in America. What a time for fandom!
Love Mallory. She’s great. Wish she was on the Rewatchables more often.
she's the best!
Goat style of video. More plz
More Mallory just talking about stuff she loves. I’ve been waiting for a reunion with Jason…but whoever she’s with-let’s get a battlestar Galactica deep dive with Mal. Please.
Mal is the best. I miss what she and Jason were able to create together in the RingerVerse
Avengers: Endgame is the best Marvel movie and that movie is the only superhero movie that has made me tear up.
Great video Mal!
Mallory is 1 of 1.
If there's one movie I wish I could rewatch for the first time it's Engame
I love this video 3000
Mal is the best combo of smarts and heart. Never change!
Still one my favorite movie going experiences.
Thanks for sharing, Mal.
If I had my Mallory bingo card I think I would have done well...including a plead from mom to see the eye doctor!!❤
The one thing that bothered me about endgame is why couldn’t they have put a picture of Natasha at the end funeral scene
🐐 Genre Podcaster talkin about a 🐐 Genre movie. This is cinema!
11:00 to hear Steve say Avengers - Assemble - not at that theatre. At least the cheers in mine were measured, not frantic and I actually got to hear it.
Not drafting endgame culmination in action pieces draft is tragic. It was the largest most complicated completist moment in cinema history. Sean, Chris and Amanda blew it.
Feels like there's a reason this went up on the Ringer main page instead of the new Ringer Movies channel...?
Mal you are the best. I miss Binge Mode a lot!
She's great at storytelling
Infinity War > Endgame. A movie where the bad guy won. Rare
💯 FACTS
Brb going to watch endgame 😂🔥
I compare that first MCU saga with Game of thrones. They both premiered at roughly the same time and I love both very much even if GoT didn't stick their landing as well as the MCU.
The irony is that game of thrones and marvel are completely “attached” (let’s say. )The writer of the books. R R Martian said watch game of thrones then read the Stan Lee Kirby and Ditkos era of marvel. It’s almost the same. He said the only difference is that in book’s characters die forever in comics they die until they need them to come back again.
Mal don’t miss
We need a Rewatchables for Endgame
As much I love all this ….I gotta tell you ..growing up the avengers were always a B-team .. it was always Spider-Man & the X-men (Marvel) and justice league (DC) to see this just blow up (as much as it did )was special .. but I kept sayin and still KEEP telling folks “ wait till the X-men come “ HELL wait till Doom comes
The mother of dragons herself
I also saw iron man as I graduated college.
Record a podcast at the eye doctor's office . At this point I think that's the only way Mal is getting there
Do you even know what this post means?
Endgame was the last time you could take a man's movie rec
Long live binge mode
OMG😢😢
Mallory, our go-to girl for all things MCU. Oh, and any mainstream theatrically released softcore scene and not so softcore scene, okay, some just flat out graphic and next level N-17, my point is Mal is our dude cinema expert for either/or as the resident play by play man to break down the game film on all things Marvel and studio released erotica, baby!
I miss Binge Mode.
I miss when Thor Odinson was a more serious character
Is it weird that I just watched Endgame yesterday & this video pops up today?
Im a fan ❤
Infinity war is a more fun movie than endgame man
I miss Binge Mode
I am unhealthily attracted to Mallory Rubin…Everything about her ❤
God less Mallory Rubin. Articulation personified
I also hate when people are well spoken and thoughtful.
More mush-mouth, Ringer!
We mostly all had those same emotional moments in the theater. But intellectually and plot wise, this movie was a mess.
To start with, if Captain Marvel just flew into low orbit with the stones at the end, what could Thanos and his crew do about it? She had already blown up their spaceship. Also, what was the point of the Winter Soldier arc? In the final 2 movies, all he does is shoot a machine gun at the bad guys. How did the bad guys get into Wakanda HQ to attack Vision--the dome was only partial? Captain Marvel is about to enter the time machine van, roughly 15 feet away and Thanos throws his shield/sword from 100 feet and it beats her to the van to destroy it.
I also think the Russo's suck for sidelining the traditional Hulk for smart Hulk, likely because they didn't know how to write for the rampaging version. Black Panther was also fairly a non-factor in the big battle. This movie needed a comic book writer like Whedon, not the Russos.
Thanos should never have been so all powerful. Being able to sustain and fend off an attack from Cap, Thor and Tony at the same time was silly. It basically puts Thanos on the Superman level of strength. And if that's true, why did he need to send the Chitauri in the first Avengers movie after them?
As time as gone on and I have seen the fleshed out version of Ultron on cable, it has grown as a comic book movie as Endgame has shrunk.
Oh and I love how after everyone came back, the first priority was, "Get those damn kids back in school" even before Tony's funeral service.
Infinity War is by far the better movie.. all Endgame is just fan service, showing you old movie scenes that we all like to fill time in the movie. Also they just do time travel to pretty much take away anything any happened in Infinity War. Good movie but Infinity war just such a better plot and the villain is good in that movie..
1000000000000000% agree with this take
Why isn't this on Ringer Movies???? wtf are we doing here!
@@Plasia_He nerds out over Batman, though.
@@Plasia_ keep crying and reading your comic books nerd
I was hoping WolverMan would finally join forces with the Stupendous Seven and defeat Professor Diversitron and the Batsquatch. It sounds smarter with a vocal fry. Cinema! Yeah!
Rubin you look different than your voice
You’d have to pry my eyes open like Alex in clockwork to make me watch and listen to Mallory for 17 minutes
🆗
She has good takes and is clearly passionate about movies. But her voice is like nails on a chalkboard.
Women at The Ringer, not a fan of make-up.
Fuck make-up.
Wtf kinda comments is this. What a strange way to say you have never slept with a female 😂
Daing. y r u so mean.
Neither are the men at The Ringer.
