Great to have your own built -in family logistics system. Great to see the way the family supports your efforts, and how those cousins interact. Taking after their Dads and Uncles, no doubt!
Glad to see you taking "Ice Safety" seriously. It brought me back to my youth, in Northern New England, crossing lakes and ponds by snowmobile. Every year, those that don't understand the dynamics of freeze-thaw-freeze and hidden "slush fields", unfortunately lose their lives. But you seem prepared and knowledgeable. Great video. Loved the helicopter!
My wife and I appreciate your videos. We immigrated to Canada from the U.S. Actually Oregon 29 years ago. We bought a ranch that needed lots of work and we were ready to take it on. There was no hydro or water and the house and out buildings weren't finished. There was an old Lister hand crank Gen set which was diesel. I never gad a diesel anything until then so had to figure it out. Oh, and it hardened ran for years. Anyways, after fueling it up and cranking it fired. We used it for around 10 years. 5 hp single cylinder. Thought it actually made fuel it was so efficient. In 2000 we replaced it with a Kubota 3 cylinder 7500 watt diesel. Why I'm telling you all this is we've experienced the diesel for years and found it so much more economical that the gas Gen sets plus the fuel lasts for years with out shellacing. Just saying. Lots of stories and memories.
Hey guys, the helicopter, the trips, everything you experience as a family has been great!! What you are living during the winter in the lake is fabulous. I always see you and I ask you to make the videos longer, longer, because for me the video is short, you have to make a movie, you are all an inspiration on how to live a kind of adventure as a family!! Please, we don't want a 30 minute video, they have to be 1 hour long!! lol, God bless you guys you are fabulous!!
Your vlogs is quickly becoming one of my favorites! I live in AZ where we next to never get snow or cold like y'all get! I could never live like that, but you all make it seem so easy! I love how your family is very close and connected, as well as nearby neighbors and sometimes that's all you need, right? Thanks for sharing! Pretty cool!
This was definitely one of the best videos you have ever made watt an adventure I was on pins and needles thank you so much for this video may God continue to bless you and keep you out of any harm thank you so much Danny
Just appreciating that you indicated through the videography in the first 15 seconds the helicopter landing wasn’t bc anyone was needing emergency care. Now I can relax and just enjoy what unfolds which is the beauty and blessing of your lives as made available to us this way. 🙏🏼 Edited to add I love how excited Carol was for the helicopter ride. Al of you, thanks for taking us on this incredible adventure. Loving it!
Just bought a lift ticket to go ski Flagstaff soon. Golfed yesterday and it was sunny and 70'. Put my flip flops on as I drove home and had a ice cold coors light! Stay warm peeps!! Timmy C Arizona
“I miss flying” indeed. Nothing else like a helicopter in all the world. Wonder how many future pilots are in the family. My first ride was on a Huey was back in my Army days and I think the smile took a week to wear off.
Say could you'll do a family history of your family. Where you meet and as your life progressed to the point where you are know. You'll are so fun to watch, thanks.
Here’s an old video for some history. We plan on making an update soon. OUR STORY /// 4 YEARS FULL-TIME ON THE ROAD - /// EFRT EP 100 ua-cam.com/video/8YsNUemTe2o/v-deo.html
Pete, I think in past videos, you said it takes about an hour by boat to get to the fuel dock. How faster is the helicopter? That's an awesome thing to have such a great family!
Awesome life you all have I’ve got a off grid cabin myself and 99percent of people couldn’t do it they don’t understand how it works but it is possible to do and it way more healthier I think thanks again for sharing it with us you guys are amazing
Watching this was like I could almost feel the helicopters vibrations and it was pretty awesome that you could see right where the water had not frozen and how big of Span it was until your next video enjoy and stay safe❤
Neat however I wouldn't really say you and you're family are roughing it. You can and do buy the best of everything you want whenever you want it. I was shocked at how many gas cans you needed filled in such a short period of time, and a helicopter to bring in supplies...really lol. Your lifestyle is not attainable to the average person, however fun to watch. Cheers really enjoy most of your video's
Another beautiful video. Thanks for the bird's eye view of your lovely area. Wishing you cold temps and no wind so that your body of water can freeze nice and thick.
When you started the Cabin Series, I wasn’t sure I would like it….. I have found this series very interesting and waiting for the next weeks instalment. Through trial and error can you can survive on the island in the cold of winter. I do have one question. A while back you installed a large solar and lithium battery bank and solar. How has that been working out, has there been enough sun light to make it work and are the solar panels covered with snow? Maybe an updated to one of your videos, how the system is functioning. Thanks, and keep up the good work keep those videos coming. Jeff
Thank you. So glad you are enjoying the Cabin series. Yes, we will give an update on the battery system soon. We haven’t had a chance to install the solar panels yet. Stay tuned and have a wonderful day!
Thank you so much for the video. That was really cool. I’m wondering if you guys are looking at eventually getting a larger container for just gasoline and like with a hand pump or something? Ok 👌🏼🔥🤠🔥Camping Russ out
Such an awesome video EFRT family! I have only been on a helicopter once, it was both nerve wracking and exciting at the same time! Hope you stay safe in that beautiful cabin this winter!
Curious if you think you’ll invest in a personal hovercraft - seems like the ideal solution for your situation. Love the ice safety discussion - very helpful. We’ve been having the same problem - sustained warm spells preventing the ground from freezing at our acreage in the UP is forcing us to alter some plans. I don’t like fighting with muskeg, so I limit where I go until the ground freezes solidly.
What an awesome back up plan for supplies! Always epic!!! Roughly how many people winter on the lake? Your neighbors? So cool that you all got to go up and see the area. Peter's smile in the helicopter said it all! Caroline you caught some epic shots of this epic operation. I am with Dan and Fred there is always time for a steak!!! Pete great review of the safety y'all take on the ice! Carolyn with the restocked groceries can't wait to see what ya cook up. I think Lando was chasing the Helo for a ride haha. As always thank y'all for allowing us to be a part of your life.
Guys finally made it up to our cabin , packed a trail from landing over….in north western Ontario, usually it’s a lot thicker this time of year…we haven’t had the -20 temps we usually get here either…next weekend it will be time to clean roofs off start a fire and enjoy…
They worked for it. 98.8 percent of wealthy Americans earned their money within one generation. Almost no one (except divorced women) receive money without earning it. The top ten billionaire women on the Forbes list of wealthy people, did nothing to earn their money other than get divorced from a man who did everything to earn their money. So pipe down a bit.
The dog does not think it’s safe. What a great back up option. exciting! Great brother! Don’t the C’s want to go out on the chopper? Ohhhhh glad they went.
A chopper is the first thing I’ve flown on and a army jumbo jet was so kewl lol, thee scenery around you is almighty gorgeous and so awesomely beautiful, something I would love to look at everyday. Thank you for sharing ❤❤❤❤❤❤take care and be safe 😊
Awesome episode. Got hooked on your channel thanks to a friend. The family time and adventures are inspiring. As a canoe tripper, backpacker and scuba diver all over ontario. I look forward to creating some adventures for my kid and step kids like this. Even if on a smaller scale. Hence picking up a jeep and taking my 8 year old backpacking in Algonquin. Kids learn so much this way. Keep up the great channel.
Interesting. What do you think has surprised you most about the experience so far? Are you surprised at how fast the fuel has been depleted? Do you think that you have enough of the appropriate technologies on the island to really stay off grid for any length of time? Is there anything that you think you have over stocked on-that freezer still looks pretty full! What would you do differently next time?
Nice to see some sensible good old non-government dictated fuel cans in use. Most folks down here in the US, when they buy a new fuel can, rip all that hard-to-use safety stuff off and install after market easy-to-use spouts and vents. It's absolutely crazy. The after market stuff is sold right next to the hard-to-use fuel cans!
Love the helicopter footage ... great slo-mo take off and landing!! I find helicopters dramatic anyway (growing up watching M.A.S.H. ?) and this episode was both fun and a bit dramatic :)! Winter is NOT what it used to be in NW Montana either. I've lived here for 29 years and the amount of snow (less), freeze/thaw mess ... disappointing as I love winter sports. Hope things settle into cold so you can get on the ice!
This is amazing winter wild life. Every time I watch you all the more convinced I am you Canadian men are something special. Can do guys. Yes sir. Great jobs all you. I do not like ice underneath me. I could not do that. Off grid all good but my feet need earth under them. Great video made me nervous.
Great to have your own built -in family logistics system. Great to see the way the family supports your efforts, and how those cousins interact. Taking after their Dads and Uncles, no doubt!

35:00 wow, that slow-mo shot on the takeoff! So crisp. Nice job, Caroline!
Agree, Caroline your skills are amazing!

Wow, amazing how you guys have adjusted to living in winter/frozen lake conditions. This winter is a great new chapter in your story.
It was great seeing everyone having fun after the work was finished.with good weather.
Super big smiles when everybody gets into the helicopter. Wow it is fun
You'll never forget it. Thanks Caroline for the great video
This was definitely one of the best videos you have ever made watt an adventure I was on pins and needles thank you so much for this video may God continue to bless you and keep you out of any harm thank you so much Danny
That was awesome, thank you Uncle Tim for helping them out ❤
I am enjoying a cup of adventure blend as I type. Now I have a renewed sense of adventure.
Hope you enjoy the coffee ☕️ Thanks for the support! Have a wonderful day!
Drone footage is great but helicopter footage is more fun. Hope you all stay safe and healthy.

Ya'll have access to a helicopter....holy cow!! Sweet. BTW, the music selection has always been just exceptional and very evocative.
I love all the precautions that you are taking. I would be apprehensive on ice.
The videographer of this episode was outstanding. (from Canada) 👏👏
Watching this was like I could almost feel the helicopters vibrations and it was pretty awesome that you could see right where the water had not frozen and how big of Span it was until your next video enjoy and stay safe❤

What about an air boat to cross the water and ice on the lake? A Sherp would be interesting also.
Great family and community support.
Need a airboat or hovercraft sponsor!
Another beautiful video. Thanks for the bird's eye view of your lovely area. Wishing you cold temps and no wind so that your body of water can freeze nice and thick.
This is a great story to follow God Bless praying for you

Use a rope to remove roof snow. Safer than a shovel. You can Google it

That was epic. I love how family helps each other out. I wonder though, how much it cost for the helicopter to come out?
The cost of Brotherly love.
