It's a pity that the days of this awesome soprano are gone :-/ On the other hand, I hope we will be hearing more and more from the amazing baritone he has become. :-)

I agree with you that it’s sad that those days are gone, but this kid still has a bright future ahead of him, and hopefully he’s inspired many young boys like him to become the next gift from god boy soprano!

Aksel, I have spent many a sleepless night listening in ecstacy to your breathtaking voice since you were a small boy till now, and I am so grateful that we live in a generation of technology that saves it for posterity, long after your voice has broken. Thank you for your dedication and hard work to give such pleasure to so many, and a special tribute to you for remaining so unspoiled, and sweet-natured in spite of all the fame. God bless you and your devoted family whose loving support and encouragement must surely be the contributory factor in your success. You are by far my favourite boy soprano.
Thank you! I am always glad to learn that I am not only making myself happy through singing, but others as well :) Continuing to work hard, but now with a different voice. Maybe even more important to work hard in the years coming.

Yet another piece we are unlikely to hear from another treble. Aksel has most certainly raised the bar for his contemporaries and for future generations of boy songsters and there has been no shortage of gifted boys around and they just keep on coming, notably in the German choirs.
I Miss this little boy and his gorgeous voice. It is the way of nature but ohhhh do I miss it. Soooo happy we have all these recordings. Such a precious child.
That's how it is. I am happy too I got so many opportunities with different orchestras and in operas, before my voice changed. Feeling privileged!

Fascinating first to hear it in German, and doubly wonderful to hear a treble interpretation, which is I think the first I've ever heard. Most have been in that gorgeous mistranslated English of Van Swieten, and all by mature sopranos, generally all with me singing in the chorus. So, what a delight. Rock solid technique, lovely legato phrasing and absolutely effortless appearing (but the result of considerable work) singing, with real feeling and depth beyond your years. Thanks - I really enjoyed that!
Wer sich mit der Wiener Klassik beschäftigt,kennt die Tücken,die besonders die langsamen Sätze in sich haben.Einen Spannungsbogen aufzubauen erfordert ein hohes Maß an Musikalität und einen langen Atem.Bravo Aksel,sehr gut gemacht!

Aksel Rykkvin I imagine that because the career of a boy treble is so brief there's not much time for exploring lesser-known works. "The Creation" is well-known, of course, but some parts are better known than this one, I think.

I always have two questions to ask you. First, who discovered you to have such a talent as a boy soprano, and what is your age at that time? Second, I note that you have a hectic concert & recording schedule. How can you reconcile with your school work?
I think I was nine when I started getting more and more solos from the conductor and the voice teacher in the boys’ choir in Oslo Cathedral. About school, in seventh grade I started in a special classical music talent class where we receive musical training in between regular classes. And I always bring homework if I have to travel for a concert.
You are amazing to be able to cope with the heavy assignments. But you are also lucky to have a good voice teacher who guides you through the voice change. I hope I can meet you in person one day.

Какие-то выводы можно будет делать в 20 лет (Акселю сейчас 18). А более-менее уверенно только в 25 лет (после окончания Консерватории).

Aksel, Du solltest unbedingt auch auf Spanisch singen. Denn auch (und gerade) dafür hast Du eine wundervolle Aussprache. Ganz allgemein: Es ist ein großes Vergnügen, Dir zuzuhören!

I started playing Suzuki violin when I was little, but gave it up for singing. I get weekly piano lessons at school, but it’s just to be able to support my own singing rehearsals, really.

Well, my falsetto reaches soprano range, I sometimes sing alto, but it’s only for use in choir.
