There's a lot of work and training behind it. It doesn't just come out talent or not. Music is like an iceberg. The public only sees/hears 10% of the work.
And when his voice changes?
@@redheadmomma7176 It will be beautiful, but different. The training and skill it there.
Funny how there are so many comments about the mechanics of this performance vs. just appreciating the beauty of it.
The most beautiful controlled singing. Exactly as it should be sung - sounds effortless but is the result of a lot of hard work. Well done Cai.
I lI agree.I am a piano teacher, and I am constantly telling students, when you hear or watch an effortless performance it is always after hours and hours of hard work. I know this boy is now an adult. but he has given all of us an incredibly wonderful experience.
There are moments that can only be captured within a very small timeframe to get this type of perfection and beauty. I want to thank Cai and his parents, teacher and all behind in the orchestra/choir section.....this truly is a work of all to pull off. absolutely the most beautiful music and voice I have ever heard. There's a part of the upper register (or head voice) known as "flageolet" or "flute register". Maybe that's the part of his voice he's using

The saddest thing about a boy treble's voice is that they are often at their most beautiful just before the voice "breaks" in puberty. However, he will always have that musicianship, breath control, pitch and performance skills. I do hope that he makes singing part of his life as an adult.

Ummmm his voice not technically a SOPRANO, as much as it’s a tenor(remember he is a pre-teen which means he hasn’t truly started hitting puberty yet).
But yes his voice is very pure, it’s bright, he has nailed his vowels and has learned to properly sing using his diaphragm(the power house for any vocalist).
More than likely he will be a true tenor even after puberty… but that’s only speculation.
We are hearing "the voice of an angel" in the body of a 12 year old boy. Unbelievable tone, vocal inflections. I keep listening to his pure voice.
Face of an angel too.
beyond the grace, the angelic purity, the musicality, there also is the intelligent maturity, feeling what it is he is given the opportunity to interpret; this all, is what makes this available for us to listen to, an absolutely magically 'divine' moment.
Thank you Cai, I like to think that this is what Mozart heard when he composed this. This is what perfection sounds like.
Yes. He sings beautifully the beautiful music by Mozart, himself a prodigy.
I always remember my dad being so surprised hearing me sing next to him when he finally came to church once. I wish I had stuck with it. Apparently treble voice is rare. As soon as puberty came along it was like I had to yell to be heard all of a sudden.
All I can say is Wow, kid. I have heard a lot of boy soprano's in my years, and have even hired on for one of my recordings but, Wow! Your control is amazing. I do hope that biology is kind to you and you can take the skills you so obviously have forward into a stunning adult career. And seriously, what in Welsh water or whatever, that keeps producing vocal talent like this?
Agreed - do you remember Aled Jones as a boy soprano? When he matured, it developed into an attractive light tenor. He has made innumerable albums as an adult (in the UK)
Welsh are like that.💕
I don't think it is in the water. I rather suspect it is helped by the good Welsh mountain air - and their traditions that encourage and appreciate real singing!

@@EyeLean5280 I don't see it as a quarrel. I just don't believe in talent. I feel like it takes away from the work someone has put in. It's like saying thank god after an operation. Thank the doctor instead.
@@ImAnBoosterBaby Yes, I know it's unfashionable these days to believe in talent but as an art teacher of 25 years I can tell you there are brain differences among people that make it easier or harder for them to learn skills and with some, say about 5-10%, there's an astonishing native understanding of art. They come to it already "understanding" their paints, clay, charcoal, whatever, and just SOAR, while most of their classmates work hard to learn.
Among these people maybe half are also markedly superior in terms of concept. Their art isn't just mimicking what's been done before but seeks new ground and is expressed in strikingly sophisticated ways.
I don't care whether people don't like using the word "talent" for that or not - perhaps somebody somewhere has come up with some other word - but the phenomenon exists and it's what most people mean by "talent."
But, sure, I know fashion is important to a lot of people. Super important. So carry on with hopping on posts to "correct" others for using a word you don't like and making no actual positive contribution. Hope it makes you feel good.

I started choral singing in 1963 when I was just over 7 years old. I have never stopped since. I was notably part of the Maîtrise des Petits Chanteurs de Notre-Dame de Versailles from 1989 to 2006. And with this ensemble, I participated in the recording of Fauré's Requiem in 1993.
