  • This Shure receiver did not power up. The problem was traced to a couple of small surface-mount inductors, which were blown together with a PCB trace. The inductors were replaced, and the trace repaired. The external power supply was tested using an electronic load.

    Thanks for posting this. Reminds one to always look for obvious damage. Would have liked to see you solder in the replacements. Looked pretty cramped layout to work in.

    I have a ULXS4 receiver and cannot figure out how the plastic covers come off, I figure it's latches that need to be pressed on with a small screwdriver until they release

    I found a couple of these at Goodwill, bought one but don't know of any use for it. The channel doesn't seem to be tunable and i don't have anything that transmits on the channel that it uses. Any ideas?

    How would you fix a receiver that doesnt show the digits in the LED screen? The receiver works and the screen is green but no numbers show at all.

    8:55 I think I know what happend: Somebody connected a different power supply and the unit to something that did have not 0V on the ground, so there was a current flow from the power input GND to some other GND. Like when you don't have your scope on an insulation transformer and connect the ground to the positive input of a switching PSU capacitor.

    Hi, Do you know if you can change the frequency range of a Shure SLX system, so that it works in another band?
    Regards

      I think its fixed, I have G3 Receivers (ULXS4) and G50 mics QLXD in the same 470-530 frequency range, They are not grouped the same, I have tried every combination on Group and Channel and the ULXS4 will not receive them Trying to save the cost of buying new QLXD receivers , It would have been nice if you could change it internally, But then shure would not make any money

    Thanks! We have a few of these, and I've wondered what they were like inside.
    Do you think it would be possible for a competent diyer to re tune one of these to a different band? E.g. from G4 to J3? Shure will do it but of course it'll cost you. Or would it be too complicated, need firmware, take a bunch of rf test gear, ...?

    • @feedback-loop
      @feedback-loop  7 років тому

      I don't know. Most probably it will take a firmware change, careful tuning of some filters using some advanced gear and knowledge of the adjustment process.

    • @cj-de2eb
      @cj-de2eb 7 років тому

      That's what I was thinking. Would be a fun project to reverse engineer and figure it out, except maybe for the firmware (unless that ended up being either really simple or not necessary). But from a practical point of view, not likely to be worth the effort vs. sending it in. Still a well-engineered product though!

    I need to replace one of the bulkhead BNC connectors on the back but I am having trouble removing the top lid. It is a friends and I dont want to force it. Is there any tips or tricks you have for removing that cover? all screws on the top, sides and bottom and have been removed but it looks like it is attached to the faceplate somehow but I cannot see where.

      thsi also can help you - Press down on the front center of the top cover of the receiver so that the flange lock releases from the front panel. This allows the cover to slide backward as shown.
