And I watched this episode with MEDIUM amount of gimmicks: single hand tied behind my back, a tasteful amount of color balance on my computer screen, wireless magic keyboard connected via USB
Every time I watch 1 of your vids I go and bash out a track, every track I make sounds absolutely nothing like what you do, it’s always quirky odd electronica, many thanks for the constant inspiration ❤ Side note: Had a dream last night and you and Doom were doing a special Jon & Doom thing, it was proper ace, I took the day off work today and made some rhythmical noise all fkin day, I thank you. Much love Jamie
I really want to know this because you inspire me so much and I want to know what I'm in for: * What are your main income sources now? Is it patreon and youtube ad sense? * Do you still produce for other artists or is there not enough time for you, and enough money to be made there? * Are you able to have a normal social life? Since i presume you never have to tour?

Sick as always. Really inspires me to create with momentum, just writing and layering without getting completely lost in tiny tweaks and edits, especially when the Elektron sequencer and Ableton both offer so much depth for microscopic editing. Many times I’ve lost the sauce parameter locking 50 individual steps on a single Syntakt track, and it blows. Side note, was really inspired by your video from a few months ago and have been shooting quick process videos just making a track and talking through it, and while I haven’t put any out, it’s been helpful for just making things, since it’s like showing a friend, I want to keep it moving and keep their head bopping through the process. Really great idea and just yeah, thanks.
Jon mentioning Silent Hill 2. He definitely played the remake. My favorite tracks on that OST are the weird, discordant synth songs like Chthonic Symphony
Something about this beat reminding me of Lesser Known Good by Nym, even though it’s very different. The vibe and melody, something. Great beat. That or some Hot Sugar type shit, crackly analog noise but with tiny squee digital keys, love it.
1:54 Funny that it takes me less than a second to immediately recognize the Al Green drums (or basically, the sound from Willy Mitchels' studio for Hi-Records). All those beats are barebone, but oh so recognizable. I believe this one is the start of Take Me To The River.
i never write reviews like this but i just had to say that this product is amazing, very fun to have. i would buy again 10/10. the only complaint i have was that my neck brace was at the cleaners so my broke neck was all wobbly on turkey day which can be a risk where i live.
Hi. Great videos, cool style! My question is not about this video, you often use Waldorf Iridium and you have a cool preset with bass, which you used in several videos. You once wrote that you use factory presets. Can you tell me the name of this preset? I have Iridium Core, but I could not find this preset or similar.
Whenever I go to make a beat on fl studio I feel like I do really good when I'm actually trying but recently I stopped myself because I have a different passion for music. I think that Daws are super convenient but for me they don't give much excitement and I think would generally feel demotivated to sit down and produce on a computer screen but I will give exceptions to producers who really bring the life out of daws and one those examples could be flume who uses a mix a booth analog and digital. I dislike the idea of plugins and vsts because I think they can only play good samples of the actual real life instrument counterpart. I would much rather save up money overtime and invest into real instruments because it truly brings out the artist in you and you are able to express your emotions and passion more clearly. It's like if a producer sat down and clicked in a drum pattern on a computer vs a producer who uses an electric drum kit with sticks or a real drum kit and you know that the electric drum kit or real drums will have an unmatched human feel because it requires you to actually play the instruments. I connect with the ideas of artists like mk.gee, dijon, or Mac Demarco who said "Get your head out of the Daw and use a tape machine" I really appreciate you Jon for making music outside of the daw.
I think these debates are very healthy but also concerning in today's age where ai is making everything super convenient so there is a chance that new producers might choose convenience over the actual feel of music.
Didn't have Jon Wayne producing a Twenty One Pilots record on my 2024 bingo card.
This is a hilarious comment hahahah
I'd do it in a heart beat
@@jonmakesbeats same!

I, however, edited this episode with ALL gimmicks: hands tied behind my back, blindfolded, etc.
thanks for watching everyone!
