Honestly my theory is that Henry built the puppet specifically to protect Charlotte from William. I'm only 1 minute in. I had 0 knowledge about fnaf (well except for it is a horror thing which I don't enjoy that much) and now I'm afraid when I read these comments.
Well, get ready, because this is merely the FNAF timeline in a nutshell. There’s still a lot to go in to regarding things like Afton’s motives and why any of this is possible in the first place.
Ive been a fan for 6 years and I knew all this stuff so... it just felt like a reaaally short summary 👁👄👁 (they didnt talk about the books , the wrong theories , the uncomfirmed theories , the old theories... so yeah. )
I'm by no means new or wanting back into all of this craziness BUT it was really interesting to learn about things I hadn't already pieced together. Definitely makes me curious to what's next but when I left the fandom (Between FNaF 4 and SL) it was horrible. Loved all the support it had but so many people were terribly mean to each other and a good 80% of the community wasn't even into there teens. I used to run what was the biggest FNaF Discord at the time and we had to put so many things in place to help prevent disaster.
@@notslavaboo are you forgetting that he got skewered to death by an animatronic endoskeleton and his soul was bound to its suit for 30 years, trapped, alone
I feel like Wendigoons take on the timeline made the most sense as far as motivation for William. Instead of William just being a child killer, having Evan die and then observe his soul in Freddy makes a little more sense. Rather then "I just like to kill kids" its Afton coldly trying to understand why souls attatch to animatronics and expirementing by killing or rebuilding more children. Then descending into blood lust.
this is actually called "cow tools" based off a comic strip from a while ago of a cow with some poorly shaped tools. all the strip was supposed to be about was a shallow joke about how cows would be bad at making tools, but everyone read really far into it and started drawing conclusions of what the meaning of cow tools was. simply put some random baseless shit and people *will* draw a conclusion
Maybe the reason that Springtrap's jumpscare in FNAF3 is so anticlimactic is that he's trying to judge whether or not it's actually Michael, because he doesn't want to directly hurt one of his kids
@@randallcarissa Keywords in op is DIRECTLY hurt. He didn't mean for any of his kids to get hurt, let alone die, and he never really caused it rather enabled it to happen. Point being I think this is a pretty valid theory.
the reason the crying child is so scared of the animatronics is because he is the child in fnaf 4. his dad, william, is making him see illusions using a sound that makes people hallucinate. he did this after his daughter died from circus baby. he knew how dangerous the animatronics were and he tried to keep his kids away
U have to watch matpats videos cuz everything in fnaf is too dang big too fit into one video This video explained like 69% of the fnaf lore go to matts channel to know the rest and some theories
I like to imagine that William is just like “please let me finally die, I have been springlocked, set on fir twice, forced to fight the very animatronics I created, and put into a VR game. Just let me die already!”
I think the only reason Glitchtrap even exists and the whole reason he even was Springtrap in the first place is because he simply disagrees with the concept of death
16:45 When William entered the suit, it gave him two things: 1. Armor (Not effective to ghosts but let the guy live his dreams) 2. The spirits are scared because that's the last image they saw before their deaths.
"Except now they're both technically dead and the son sets the dad on fire" FNaF makes the best out of context sentences EDIT: Guys I get that it's not confirmed who set the place on fire and you have different theories. Please just stop replying to my comment with them. I'm literally just quoting the video and saying how the quote is funny
Mark and Ethan trying to run a restaurant and accidentally killing someone would've been very on brand for Unus Annus. Also using Turncoat in this video makes me sad.
Reminder: The spring lock mechanisms used in the OG suits are commonly used in garages, and they are known to snap while people are inside said garages :)
@@scp-wasp3463 yup that’s why you’re always told to never pull the string thing hanging from the garage light because it can malfunction and fall down on top of you 😆 it’s a flawed system that’s why you only use it in life or death situations
I had mine fall one day. I closed the garage and then walked inside my house, and I heard a loud CRASH, the spring snapped and locked my car in the garage (and thankfully my family's outside)
This all could have been prevented if they had money to make non-springlock suits (nobody talks about this but i think the crying child death could have been one of the reasons william went crazy)

Not to say that I don’t appreciate the effort put into those videos, but I just don’t have the bandwidth to put in, then throw away that much information.
btw, in case anyone was wondering if theres ANY sort of reason for henry's, like, 40 year disappearance from plot - it's implied he's the person who was arrested for the original missing childrens incident! the newspapers in the first game say that a suspect HAS been apprehended, but we know it's not william, and this franchise has, like, 6 characters with actual names. occams razor says its henry! sorry buddy
40 years seems like a small time to be in jail for murdering five children I believe after his daughter died, he just didn't want anything to do with the franchise anymore, until he discovered what William had done
@@andreagonzalez3405 to be fair, they never found the bodies, so its not exactly easy to charge him for murdering them, which would lead to a longer sentence. granted, the FNAF world seems to have some wacky laws (if we assume their hilarious waivers would actually be enforceable in the in-universe courts), so who knows. also, I do think it's important to note that the newspapers in fnaf 1 say the suspected killer was convicted REAL quick after it happened. irl, this stuff doesn't move quickly. personally, I don't take those newspapers as literal statements that someone was put in jail for the crimes. I interpret them that someone was charged but either acquitted or not found guilty of murder because it feels so wonky. Cawthon has said he has only ever done one real retcon in the series and I think this is the retcon - that someone was ever investigated or convicted or charged because we never hear anything about it ever again.
Ty for making this video! It's fun to watch over & over & over again! However, I don't really agree with the idea that Michael went to Fnaf 3 after he died. The reason why is because when the oxygen levels drop and the lights flash, the player starts blacking out, however Michael couldn't black out if he didn't have any lungs to react to the oxygen drop.
As someone who’s trying to learn the story, YES also I’ve seen different timelines for these same plot points where some things happen before or after something else and they happen for different reasons…my mind is spinning
It actually helped a lot. I like to watch old videos of the theories, and although I have the story we know now quite solid in my mind, sometimes the past theories confuse me. For example, I know that in past theories, Matpat talked about Chica being the first victim of William Afton. Literally Chicas' lines in Ultimate Custom Night are "I was the first. I have seen everything." Even Matpat said that the Puppet should have been the first victim. For the life of me, I can't remember when he changed that. But it makes a lot of sense.
I wonder how well this video holds up now with the story now that we have so much more stuff, perhaps you can do a sequel with matpat and go over everything they have currently again
@hypnotic kinda reminds Don McLean with his song “American Pie” People asked him many times before what it all meant and he said something along the lines of “I’m rich now lol”
Your POV: You already know the gist of the lore thanks to watching MatPat's theories like fifty times, but you still want to hear him recap everything and yell at someone as well.
I mean, this video is good but it's an oversimplification of FNAF and leaves a lot of details about the lore out, for example it didn't talk about the Remnants or about the Mind control device that William used to make Michael see the nightmare animatronics in FNAF 4 (I forgot the name of it, but they are circular chips with a red dot)
I know I’m really late for this, but my theory for Henry’s super long absence is that Henry was arrested as the suspect for the first missing children’s incident, getting a comparatively short sentence for good behavior, and immediately started plotting the end of Afton and fixing his contributions to the animatronic dead children souls thing. After FNAF 3 he finds out about Michael’s situation and they basically team up in FNAF 6. Also, when the Puppet lays the souls of the missing children’s incident victims to rest, I believe Crying Child rests too, leaving only Cassidy in Golden Freddy, the only possessed animatronic not burned in Henry’s FNAF 6 fire. Hence being able to torture William in UCN, until they finally stop thanks to Old Man Consequences, or whatever he symbolizes, and finally rest. Basically, all FNAF going forward, in the game timeline, is AI or brainwashed murderers as opposed to possessed animatronics.
My theory is that he faked his death so that he could pull off what happens in FNaF 6. Henry's obviously been running the restauraunts behind the scenes, but the reason you don't see him do it is because it's not very important to the storyline. In my opinion: phone guy is Henry, and that's when Henry fakes his death.
Crystal Cat 100 that is a plausible explanation. Though Phone guy clearly has a different voice than Henry’s FNAF 6 monologue, that could be explained by not being able to regain the same voice actor, defying Scott’s theoretical intention. I do think it’s at least possible. Though if he faked his death, it still doesn’t explain over twenty years of inactivity in stopping William, and there are other people employed that could take over the company if he “died” or got arrested.
I'm so glad that this video exists, I have been watching Matt's theories for years, and I kinda forgot how the lore all holds up as of right now, and I don't want to watch hours of content again and throw away half that content because it doesn't add up anymore.
Sadly you only know lore from the books that are happening in other universe Cuz matpat doesnt use informations from games only from books that Scott confrimed arent happening in games Universe that is canon and main timeline
FootofaFerret and MatPat combined into one? *But hey, that’s just a theory...A FOOTOFAFERRET THEORY* If we all had MatPat as our teacher, school would be so entertaining
*Fun Fact:* The "animatronic jumpscare scream" in FNAF 1 isn't actually a recording of a screaming child, but rather a screaming woman from a sci-fi film called _Inseminoid_ (1980).
This is only two thirds of it. The books add more lore reveals, while simultaneously making any lore reviewer want to vomit because of how confusing they are.
Is it me or is becoming more Sci-Fi than paranormal? Cuz if there are robots specifically designed to kill and capture, then it be easy to write there's no ghosts haunting them but rather it's programming.
I can't believe we're still chalking the Bite of '83 to a springlock failure. It was in robot mode, the springlocks were disengaged because there was a robot in there. The jaw was just insanely powerful for some reason

Honestly my theory is that Henry built the puppet specifically to protect Charlotte from William. Because even though he hadn’t murdered any children yet (that we know of) surely he’d still have a bit of a creepy vibe from him. As someone who stopped paying attention to this series like 3 years ago, I’m lowkey really glad to get a current update without going through the HOURS of theories full of corrections, half-wrong theories and all that. Not to say that I don’t appreciate the effort put into those videos, but I just don’t have the bandwidth to put in, then throw away that much information.
btw, in case anyone was wondering if theres ANY sort of reason for henry's, like, 40 year disappearance from plot - it's implied he's the person who was arrested for the original missing childrens incident! the newspapers in the first game say that a suspect HAS been apprehended, but we know it's not william, and this franchise has, like, 6 characters with actual names. occams razor says its henry! sorry buddy
This is a good theoru
40 years seems like a small time to be in jail for murdering five children
I believe after his daughter died, he just didn't want anything to do with the franchise anymore, until he discovered what William had done
@@andreagonzalez3405 OR he burned down the fake pizzeria killing himself and the scrap animictronics
@@wedoinit5392 Uh yeah, after he discovered what William had done and meeting Michael he did that ._.
This franchise is the epitome of "The more I learn, the more I realize how much I don't know."

@@youngski249 But for a 27 minute video they do a pretty good job lol
I mean, this video is good but it's an oversimplification of FNAF and leaves a lot of details about the lore out, for example it didn't talk about the Remnants or about the Mind control device that William used to make Michael see the nightmare animatronics in FNAF 4 (I forgot the name of it, but they are circular chips with a red dot)
@@banana-uo3be I think that it was just the crying child and not Michael at fnaf 4,I agree with the other one
This is a really good idea, explains a lot of things really neatly
Yeah same
Huh

Fun fact: circus baby wasn’t actually meant to kill children. She was meant to lure them with ice cream, and kidnap them, storing them inside her storage tank, until William afton could get to them. But it was a fail, because the claw was a bit too strong.
Well no. The Afton Daughter was pulled in and then shredded to bits since baby had a shredder inside if her.
"A bit"
@@Boba069 yeah that’s an understatement
But the claw did not kill it was when baby moved so it crushed elizabeth
Everyone says different things at this point I don’t believe what anyone says. This story is so confusing it’s not even worth trying to solve anymore. It should be a simple story. I wish they would make a movie explaining the hole timeline from 1980-2023
