Fun fact: There's a potential for there to be tens or even hundreds of game sessions that haven't closed since 2017 due to "always in-game" accounts that have existed since 2011 to ensure that certain games never properly close and still utilize the old scripting system upon entry. It is very unclear which games have them, or even if there may still be a guest in them, but nothing is impossible.

Weekly updates only became a thing in 2014.

@@Pixel_Pug Yeah. These people bought computers especially for this purpose, too. The parts are all hot swappable while the machine is on and running, and you can even perform operating system updates without truly closing the game so long as the OS has an architecture that supports running the client. Since Roblox was 32-bit back then, even Windows 11 could run it now.
For a brief explanation, these machines are essentially made to copy all necessary data to keep an application running always available onto another drive on command. It also essentially runs two operating systems at once, which is why you can update Windows on it. You can then effectively just move all the app data, even temporary data, from the storage device with the old operating system, to the one with the new operating system, without losing any data or having your connection go offline. It also has the option to enable and disable specific RAM slots at will, even on the live OS, though the one caveat to that is that you need the RAM amounts to be equal unless you also want to swap the game to another OS again.

I was a guest before, and it was when I was playing a game called something like "Barry's Pizzeria Roleplay" (A fnaf game). The game has a well-known system in Roleplay games, where you can enter text into a chatbox to give yourself a name, and I used this to communicate with a player to ask how to make an actual account. I now have my own account and have had many over the years thanks to that guy.

knowing all the stuff i missed by being a stubborn kid who would only play one online game (animal jam) and not accept anything else makes me a bit sad. i joined in 2018, so after most of this stuff got taken out. i wish i coulda experienced the older roblox features.
I had a similar experience except it was my mom that for some reason saw that Roblox was considered a unsecure website cause of that stupid green lock that would tell you if a website was secure or not. so she wouldn’t let make a account back in like late 2015 early 2016. so I had to stick to animal jam until I got a Tablet and the Roblox app, still even then I had to play as a guest until I bugged her enough to make one for me. I can’t believe I was such a stupid goody two shoes kid and I didn’t just make one in 2015 so cause of that I missed out on a good chunk of older Roblox and a lot of the 2010‘s internet cause I was so dead set on being a good little kid. Every time I look back at my childhood internet days it pains me so much that I lost all those possible experiences to quite literally nothing.
@@smartypaws5 man i feel that. that was why i didnt make a youtube channel for a while too, i wasnt supposed to. eventually i did it anyway, and im glad that i did, but i still missed out for a while. didnt make my first channel until august of 2015. luckily still early on enough that i got to have fond memories of the older youtube systems, but nowhere near as much as i could have.
on the plus side, at least animal jam was a good time (for me at least). i still hold it in my heart fondly
I joined in 2014, and played actively until 16-17. I remember all of these features vividly. Kinda crazy some of these got removed.

of being disappointed
and my brother saying "buideg pub" for fun
as a kid who didn't have a bank account yet, and my parents feared online purchases
so disappointment wasn't so rare and any copy of minecraft, garry's mod and roblox could have gave me dopamine rush that is way too unimaginable
also at one point, I relied on xbox giftcards to give me robux, since that was the only way because there were no Roblox giftcards available

oof relatable especially the parents being afraid of online purchases part 😭 i only had $10 google play gift cards to work with but one time in 2015 i somehow glitched the robux purchase system and got double the amount. not sure how that happened and ive never done it again
@@curepinkie1637 Sorta relatable. My parents didn't fear online purchases, but were wary of them. I ended up getting 2k robux one day on mobile, and as a joke, pressed the buy button and bought 2k more robux unknowingly. I continued to spam the button thinking it was a free robux glitch, but it was just mobile roblox's UI being shit and not showing up the "Enter credit card info" UI or whatever, causing me to max out my moms credit card.

I remember and know about these features, which I had almost forgot about but I now feel nostalgic about them. I also remember owning every tier of Builder's Club, being a guest, player points, gifts, you name it.

2012 player here, would play ceremoniously from 2012-2015, 2016-2020. Thank you for producing this vid! It covered just about everything I can think of that made this game so fun for me. And that noise, at 5:32, is pure hatred! Was the most aggravating sound to hear when being spawn killed on, "Build a Base and Fight!"

Hello, just to correct some stuff about the forum section, back before it shut down, the forums were super chaotic, especially the off topic subforum (which I was a very active user in for years before it got merged). Every once in a while, a bad actor would post illegal material similair to what you discussed, but that wasn't the catalyst the their removal. Essentially, back in 2017 a UA-camr named Quackity raided the forums multiple times and it all went downhill from there
6:38 that wasn’t the knockout system. It’s a system that gives you a notification when you obtain a point on the leaderboard. So if you get 25 points, then you may get the badge

I think they also removed the feature of removing your hats if you pressed backspace, back when I was a guest I would join prison life, and head to the police spawn and head to the edge where folks for some reason removed their hats and I would wear them

Hai ya folks! I'm a 2016-2017 player, and I remember a lot of these features being talked about before, and played as a guest for the majority of my beginnings. It was such a nostalgic trip through this video, and I would confirm most of these, as my oldest and first accessories are the Slime Crown from Nickelodeon, Violet Guardia, Egg Hunt eggs, an Artic Fox head with a gingerbread pal from this one winter event, and many other events, but it was really sad when events were slowly disappearing for the longest time. Until it came back with the Hunt, but it wasn't as good as the others. It was nice to see most discontinued things in this video, and know what else they had. So sad as I missed some of these because I didn't want to make an account in 2016 and just stayed as a guest. But it was nice while these lasted!
roblox is so lifeless and corporate now. it hurts. i've been playing since 2012, and seeing roblox change so much and remove so many interesting and unique features frustrates me.. i blame the shitty members that ruined the site for everyone else.
One thing I specifically remember is how much I wanted the boomboxes in game, up until they removed copyrighted music, which realistically should’ve happened a while back.

The one feature that I think was exploited well was being able to open the Roblox client on 2 separate accounts and you could play with yourself. Nerfed just like removing wigs :(

i joined roblox in 2011. all of these features were basically what made the platform in that time. i try to go back to roblox every now and again for the memories, but it's near-completely unrecognisable. almost all the games i used to play are either broken or deleted. i posted a lot on the forums and i wish i knew they were going to close, because i would have loved to save whatever silly things i was writing on there as a kid. i remember finding out how to give myself a custom guest number. i had builder's club a few times, usually thanks to a gift card, and felt really special entering BC-only games. most of my items i had were bought with tix, or i used the conversion feature. i remember when they re-introduced sounds, then took them away again, then brought them back again. there used to just be a handful of sounds you could use that were in every game!! i particularly remember M.U.L.E and the better off alone remix. i remember when the forcefield when you spawned was rainbow squares over your body parts, then they changed it to a blue sparkly dome. you also used to be able to click to walk, with a green circle on the ground where your mouse was, which a lot of obbies relied on when there were levels with invisible pathways. i remember when they first introduced dynamic lighting. i remember looking forward to the gift items every year around the different holidays. i didn't even realise they took away statuses! and of course the oof... i'm so glad i was born at the right time to experience all of this. i was lucky enough to go to bloxcon when it was in london, and i still have a signed poster from builderman/david bazucki and john shedletsky (who was called telamon when i joined). roblox was a huge part of my childhood and i will always remember it the way it used to be. it's been a while since i've thought about roblox so it was a treat to see this video come up on my page. roblox is this huge titan of free online gaming now, and i'm glad people are talking about the smaller, humble community it used to be.
