When you look at it, Rick's darkness started shortly after Lori confessed on cheating on him. You see in the episode after it, when Glenn tells them about walkers in the barn, the group are sitting in a circle, and Rick has that look in his eyes we've gotten used to. It's as if this moment, something awoke in him, spawned by that feeling of betrayal and deceit. Not long after, he's killed two men, beaten Shane up in a fight and is contemplating killing Randall. At least thats what I think.
For me it's the scene where he puts away his badge and sheriff outfit on hershel's farm, kind of "letting go" of his past life.
For me it's the scene in the bar with hershel when rick blasts those two humans for the first time.

You are absolutely wrong. Because there are situations that he has a beard but he is calm like the last episodes of his presence in the series and there are situations that he is clean shaven but he is brutal like the first episodes that he was in Alexandria.
It's crazy because looking at rick in the beginning he was this lighthearted, everyone-deserves-a-chance guy, but now he's so dark and if you even look at his family the wrong way he won't think twice about killing you. I love rick and honestly this buildup of him being so broken down and a slave to Negan is only going to make him the biggest badass when he takes Negan down, because like someone else commented, there's going to be nothing else to fear once Negan is gone, just the world fearing Rick motherfucking Grimes.

I just re-watched the pilot episode, and noticed a joke. Shane tells Rick women don't know how to turn off lights. When Rick gets out of the hospital and goes to his house to look for Lowery and Coral, all the light switches are in the on position.

I have a huuge crush on him
last day on earth is my favourite episode. fans are too concerned with deaths to keep them satisfied. the dialogue, action, cat and mouse, sound, acting, visuals were at it's very best in that episode. we have become so accustomed to thinking that anyone can die except if you're in Rick's core group. That finale and that season tossed that in the air. Never in the history of the walking dead has there been a finale cliffhanger of this magnitude. all the other finales leave us on a unified group.
See. You're the kind of fans AMC wanted for that episode, they explained it, that episode was to see Rick's confidence just slowly deteriorate over time, and how he was just helpless in the end. That's pretty appreciative to see that.

That was a great episode, because you knew Rick had no way out. No backwards headbutt, ripping out jugular with his teeth, Michon (killed the spelling) with her Katona. Just Rick bare and vulnerable with no way out. Broke my heart! I'm a true fan of this show since day one, I for one do not think any of them are immune to death. It's more like when is there time up.
The Morgan and Carol storyline was good, but the plot of Rick's group was kind of a waste of time. 90 minutes of being stopped in their tracks many times. They could've shown that easily in 60 minutes. Then the plot of the season 7 premiere was breaking Rick, which they were able to do in 60 minutes.
it was really intense when they get lined up and they are surrounded by the saviors and there is nothing they can do
This gave me goosebumps, having watched this show ever since the pilot. In ways I miss the old motives of rick and the 'typical' feel of a zombie apocalypse story, but seeing how he's changed over the years makes the show so much better.

This is why I love this show. Because it realistically shows the development at a normal pace. Most of us would have to evolve and adapt to this apocalyptic world. Remember when encountering zombie was such a big scary deal? Now its just Tuesday to them.. Frightening..

There’s two different kinds of Ricks I see here: first 4 seasons was the Rick learning to survive and lead in a new world where he must make his own rules, and his last 5 seasons was a Rick That has seen and done it all. He knows everything that can happen will happen and he takes every precautionary measure to protect his group, no matter how insane it is or makes him look he does what’s necessary to keep everyone safe
