    Is there one item in this EDC kit that you particularly like? Please share your thoughts about it below...
    As usual, there is a free PDF that gives you links to all of the items that appear in this video (including the 3D STL file for the printing your own Pocket Rack) . The PDF can be downloaded from here -- bit.ly/EDCWHY
    I have not been compensated for listing the items featured in this video. I include these links and the discount codes (where applicable) as a service to my viewers. Enjoy!

    Good to see another video of yours!
    One of my favourite EDC items, mostly because it's lightweight and tiny, is a printable scalpel blade holder (the design of which I ended up improving). It's basically only a bit bigger than the blade itself: 0.5 by 2 inches. The only drawback is the necessity to have size 11 blades and short M2.5 bolts, but it's so tiny and easily printable, that you can have one in every pocket, with every set of keys. Even now, sitting at my desk, I can spot at least 3 around me in the room. Not to mention it's perfect as a gift - I gave one to my dad a few months ago and heard a proud "you know that I used this tiny knife of yours already?" from him the other day. The blade is protected by default, and you can rotate the blade to reveal it, and slide it deeper into the holder to lock it in place. You need to be careful with it, as you will need to touch the blade to close it, but it's otherwise flawless!
    I'm also looking forward to buying and testing some very interesting stubby bits that I found the other day. The set is called BGS 115-1.

    • @EarthlingEDC
      @EarthlingEDC  4 місяці тому +1

      @JK-pg2qn - That sounds like an interesting design. Is the print file available online? It looks like that bit set can come with an extra thin bit driver as well - www.google.com/search?q=BGS+115-1. That's a new one for me :-)

    I carry the Otacle D2 also. The bits from a WorkPro precision bit driver fit it so that you can have a full set of bits in the short form factor. If one lives in a state where marijuana is legal, I have discovered that the tubes vape cartridges come in fit the whole bit set perfectly and is about the same length as the Otacle.

    In your garden you use a different pouch with different equipment from the one that you detail in the main part of your video. Do you have different kits that you use for different jobs or that you keep in different places?
    I’d really love to see your most recent kit with more information about its evolution and the reasons that you favour some items over others.

      @JamesBryant-nz1oo - Thanks for noticing. Most of the time I've found that this compact mini kit takes care of most of my needs ua-cam.com/video/chh1TK534AU/v-deo.htmlsi=NoqRR-9COowPfXvg - That being said, I get suggestions from viewers, EDC tool manufacturers and find interesting tools that intrigue me, then will roll items into my kit to see how they will perform. As an example, I've been switching off between these two tools quite a bit lately. ua-cam.com/video/xFD8tsJ5uWg/v-deo.htmlsi=zFmFua1ZCPs7RCSj The 711 mini bit driver is another recent example of a tool that I just recently swapped into my kit. I'll also sometimes carry multiple specialized mini kits when Traveling if I know I need to work on specific types of repairs. It sounds like another video explaining my current selection of tools might be in order. Thanks for taking the time to post.

    You should look into making the central piece which you attach the tools, into a tool card, so it could be an emergency fishing kit, sewing kit, measurement card, there lots of different ones already out there as inspiration. It would be great for EDC.

      Firstly I appreciate the reply. I think you idea is a very clever one.
      However I don’t think I explained myself very well. My idea is to combined what you have here and add it to already available products I know as tool cards. These cards are usually metal and have pop out tools or different kits built into them. If you took one of these cards or one of your own design and added your strapping to it, you would get even more utility. It’s just an idea that popped up as I watched the video.
      Again though you have a good idea there in itself.

      There are tools that have held up to regular use and work well for EDC purposes. Having a way to clip those directly to a Pocket Rack is something that I've considered building. It just takes time to work out which tools and then incorporate that attachment scheme for each of them into the design.

    Again such a amazing chanel and great setup. Question... When are the racks back for sale?

    • @EarthlingEDC
      @EarthlingEDC  4 місяці тому +2

      @gerritjansmit - Thanks for your feedback and for taking the time to post it here. The simple answer is that I have no idea. I have a regular job and when I'm not doing that I have family obligations and and the remaining time goes to creating videos for this channel and managing questions from viewers. I really did not get into this to start a business. For me, this is about sharing info with like minded folks and seeing what we can come up with to improve EDC. I'm not saying I won't sell them eventually, but I know from past experience what it takes to sell online and offer good customer support for a product. Right now, your best bet is to have one made for you by a printer. . These Pocket Racks™ come in different versions and are an open source 3D print design, so anyone can print one or customize the design. The only major restriction is that you can't sell them. There is a utility patent pending. To make one for yourself, go to: www.thingiverse.com/search?q=Pocket+Rack+EDC&page=1 and download any of the six versions that you would like to print. You can then go to a website like printathing.com, or a local 3D printing service in your area and have them make one or more of them for you. This PDF has more details on sourcing the elastics that are used with them. See: bit.ly/MicroEDCOrg and this video shows how to make the elastics bands that are used on the Racks: ua-cam.com/video/ir9DbaY8P8Y/v-deo.html Enjoy !

    Do you prefer the Pathfinder to the LeverGear Edge XT?

    • @EarthlingEDC
      @EarthlingEDC  4 місяці тому +2

      @ParkerBinion Thanks for posting. I was quite surprised to see your comment regarding this video. I's not scheduled to be publicly accessible until late tomorrow. Just curious how you found it?
      In regard to your question about the pathfinder vs the LeverGear edge, I like the extremely compact design of the Pathfinder and the brass is really a nice option. The Edge includes a 2d philips head driver and 2 flat heads drivers of different sizes which is really nice. I think the Pathfinder has a better mechanism for managing the blade, but in my correspondence with LeverGear, it sounded like they were making some changes to the blade mechanism following the glue issue I ran into when the blade mechanism became a bit gummed up after open a few boxes with it. Both of them have the ability to attach hex bits or a hex bit extenders (depending on the Pathfinder model) I'm going to go with the smaller Pathfinder, but both of them are quality items made by good companies that appear to take a great deal of pride and innovation in the products they bring to market.

      @@EarthlingEDC Hi Phil, the video is loaded to your EDC Pocket Rack playlist. That's where I accessed it. Oh and FIRST. LOL.
      For bits, you might look at the Steinwhale Stubby bit extender and kit. That extender takes Wiha double-sided too. The Steinwhale double-sided are extra small and hit everything I need. It's a great little EDC kit. Oh, and the Steinwhale bits fit in the back end of Topeak/OReilly's ratchet!

    • @EarthlingEDC
      @EarthlingEDC  4 місяці тому +1

    • @EarthlingEDC
      @EarthlingEDC  4 місяці тому +1

      @ehwash - Good question. If you are using the elastic shock cord that is listed in the PDF, string it through the anchor cleats making a complete loop as if it was going to be used to hold an item in place on the rack. Then cut the cord so that the two end are touch and there is no slack in the cord.
