    Very helpful! I'm down with bartering as I know we can't depend on the government and the dollar is losing it's value each day!

      It's definitely one of the reasons I started this channel. I don't want to be dependent on the government at all. And I've learned so much through my research for each video and the amazing community feedback. I like the concept of bartering. I just don't know if I would trust anybody in a huge societal collapse.

    • @ThePrepperAlmanac
      @ThePrepperAlmanac  2 місяці тому

      That is definitely something to ponder. That's why personally I would only barter with a small group that I knew AND would do it in a neutral place.

    Practice bartering now on a small scale with your neighbors so you understand how to do it. Then when something big happens, you are ready!

    • @ThePrepperAlmanac
      @ThePrepperAlmanac  2 місяці тому +1

      Agreed! You should definitely gather supplies now and try bartering with your neighbors to practice. I currently do it on a very small scale with the eggs from my chickens. I trade my extra eggs with my neighbors. I tend to get fruits and vegetables from their personal gardens.

    I wonder what would be a fair trade between potatoes and firewood ? A days worth of potatoes for a days worth of firewood ? Assuming both had a family of 4, with one potato equaling a serving. 3 servings a day per person=12 potatoes. A days worth of firewood would depend on the use. For heating or cooking ? Since potatoes are food, I guess the wood would be for cooking, to keep things more equal. Maybe need 1 log (16" x 8") to prepare 2 potatoes. That would be 12 potatoes for 6 logs. I guess things would balance out as people did more and more bartering.

      Good analysis and gaming it out. I guess it really comes down to supply & demand in a true long term disaster or a complete societal collapse.

    Watch vultures while bartering, lowballer everywhere

    • @ThePrepperAlmanac
      @ThePrepperAlmanac  2 місяці тому +1

      Oh I'm sure there will be lowballers. That's why I would only barter with people I already knew and most likely do the trade in a neutral place.
