    Your thumbnail shows the theater where my Dad (RIP)worked during his elder years during retirement. He liked staying busy.

    I lived there from 1957 to 1964. I have walked from one end to the other, both ways, in 1 day ! Wish I still lived there.

    I grew up in Alameda. Know it like the back of my hand. Went to Edison Elementary, Old Lincoln intermediate and we were the first class to move over to the new Lincoln school on the bay. Then Alameda High for a month before I moved. Great memories. This island is only 4x8 miles and yes it can be walked no problem.

    Oh the memories....our family grew up in Alameda from 1960 to 1967. Back then Alameda was a sleepy little town. My father worked at Alameda Naval Air Station (as did later my brothers). We lived right across the street from the base. I remember climbing the fence to watch the USS Enterprise come into port when it was transferred to NAS Alameda in the 60's. Days spent at Washington Park and the South Shore mall and Tempo music and then we would go to the beach right behind the mall. It was a great place and time to grow up in and I'm sad to see land developers take a small beautiful town and turn to into a haven for the rich. They did the same thing to my beloved Hollywood were I lived for many years. Is this REALLY "progress"?

    • @RichFlemingRealtor
      @RichFlemingRealtor  6 місяців тому

      Marie ... unfortunately, I can't answer that question for you because there are a lot of factors involved, such as how much downpayment do you have saved, where do you want to buy, what your current monthly budget is, etc. If you want to discuss further, see the video description for my contact information. Thanks for watching the video.

    Isn't Alameda also still served by the ferry?

      YES! There is ferry service. I forgot to mention it earlier in the video, but I did mention it towards the end of the video in the Pros and Cons Section. Thanks for watching and commenting!

      If you plan to live solo in a 1br apartment, it will run you around 2100-2500/mo. Homes are very very expensive; almost all over $1 million dollars. You can make around $100k and do okay.

    What he forgot to mention, Alameda is attached to Oakland lol. Back in 2014 I worked in Alameda and was commuting from Concord. Even then it was scary to switch from the train to the bus especially after dark!!! Alameda itself is super neat and all but as a nanny I also had an elderly guy taking pics of me and the baby on the public playground. I do hope things get better. It is a colorful area with beautiful vintage houses, but as streets all go parallel closer to the continent is the poor part and Fruitville train station or so, every time I took that one there was a police intervention. It's a bubble with lots of thorns on the outside so I'd rethink. But I guess the rents are better than in nicer places like Walnut Creek, that also had some crimes lately? I moved long ago and I never liked the place for some reason. I disliked the murky polluted waters and fake shorelines back in the days.

    No locals refer to the East Bay as the San Francisco East Bay. Where are you from?

    • @RichFlemingRealtor
      @RichFlemingRealtor  2 місяці тому +1

      For the last 45 years, the East Bay ... my videos cater to locals and for those from our of the area. I recently talked to someone moving here from Armenia.
