It had these planet balls that spawned in the world by default, they had stardust stuff inside them and you could sprinkle it on seeds and grass and chests and things to make them turn with gravity, and you could fire yourself in to a space dimension with a push tool and a gravity cannon block.
Funnily enough, there is even a mod for Mario Galaxy with a Minecraft galaxy custom level ! Made by the same team that will bring us Super Mario Gravity (a Mario Galaxy 3 fan project)
Eyy, Amethyst Gravity deserves more recognition, it's a really cool mod. There's also 'Amethyst Gravity: Reattracted', a continuted version for more recent Minecraft versions.
Omg their was a mod like this back in the day but it was abandoned and stuck in version 1.6.2 or something. You should try teaming up with artists and developers to make this project even more complete!

I think wth a little datapack work, it'd be very doable to make sn entirely functional recreation (maybe aside from proper enemy AI, but even that'd be "doable", just really tedious and janky)
if a spider can climb and path find through the walls SO CAN OTHER MOBS all you have to do is stick a spider to their heads and make them assume control of their bodies ratatouille style or Cappy style since it is a Mario game. ¿that is how programming works right?

There is an old mod that adds gravity though since it's so old it probably wont be compatible with most of the other mods you like to use.
It won't be compatible with anything after 1.7
But there are some alternatives for 1.17 and 1.18 and 1.19 and 1.20
