    It would be so nice to get knowledge points for crafting. You know, like you get catch up points from gathering for gathering.

    Check out the addon "No Mats, No Make". It shows you in the crafting screen what materials you will have to provide so you can quickly skip over the ones that require too much gold. :)

      The addon is even on the discord gold making resources section which makes it even worse that I don't have it.

    For the last week I had no Jewel crafting orders that didn't cost me loads or for mats I didn't have, Inscription was even worse, I just walked away, the worst Blacksmithing item I had was 6 core alloy and 6 Sanctified alloy just for 1 knowledge point.
    How about being clear and letting people know the true cost, the enchanting shuffle, must have cost 50 - 80k total, unless you use 'My mats are free' then all the recipes you learned at the beginning, a tidy sum just in learning new stuff, so are you saying dump 100k in gold to get here, another point which every content creator glosses over, I have around 10 lines, none of them sell if I don't spend all day on the auction house, I posted in small batches, 5 or 10 items, sometimes 2 - 3, yet going to the postbox or bank they are undercut, we are talking less than a minute (market bots??) post, around a minute undercut, cancel, repost, I never undercut I will repost, worst case over the weekend, I needed herbs, they were too expensive to buy (margins are tight) so I did a quick route, came back to 460 items in front of you, and the price dropped 150g, I walked away and will post when the market is reset, I have been playing for decades and never once had a mailbox as shown in any gold making guide, even on busy realms it's hard work selling, posting and coming back the following day means no sales, as yours is buried deep and much higher than the current selling price.

      My bs is constantly getting patron orders for epics, providing very few mats. He's basically stalled on knowledge points

    I guess my scale must be different. Tailoring recipes that require 30 spools of duskweave or 20 exquisite weavercloth bolts make those points cost 1K - 4K gold to get.

    For existing alts that are max skill in alchemy, but behind on knowledge, it's pretty pricey and horrible to catch up. However, if you are not in a hurry to catch up with a fresh alt, it is very cheap, and works like the other professions. I have a few alchemy alts that I just started as an experiment, and I have not learned any new recipes at all on them, so their skill is stuck at 25 (or 30 for goblin). However, they are constantly getting refreshes on healing potion patron orders, which are so much cheaper and easier to fill than all the orders I get on my higher level alchemists. At some point when I feel I have enough knowlege, I'll just start leveling them up, but they are already starting to catch up to some of the concentration alts that I had since the beginning.

    • @yarglof
      @yarglof 2 дні тому

      I have 2 alchemy alts which I unlocked all the recipe's for (just cause I felt like it). I only ever do kp patron orders that cost less than 500g per kp, or orders that profit. One of them is only a few points from being caught up, and the other is a bit further behind but has all herb nodes maxed. I don't do treatise or weekly treasures on these.

    I have 14 characters with 2 professions each, logging in daily since week 2 of the expansion. Never mind how far behind I ended up even with such persistence due to how expensive the orders were back then, I have never on any profession received more than one catch-up flicker order per day. With the order duration being no more than 24 hours sometimes I will have two available at once due to the timings overlapping, but never three after being offline since the previous day. I would accept the argument that I should not be expecting a good or easy experience trying to run so many characters in the first place but unless the solution is to log in every four or six hours instead of only once per day, I'm not understanding why our experiences with this system would be so different.

    • @kaychak807
      @kaychak807  3 дні тому

      it's not just the 2 character's I did fresh either. I'm running catch-up across every profession and the only one that's not getting the 2-4 flicker's a day is the alchemy character which is only 5-10 KP short.

      @@kaychak807 Sorry to be bothersome but I would really like to understand how this thing could be made to work since Blizzard never wants to explain these types of systems for whatever reason. Are you logging in multiple times throughout the day and finding new orders one at a time after clearing out all the available ones or have you ever actually seen three or more in your order list at the same time?

    • @yarglof
      @yarglof 2 дні тому

      @@densetsu7469 If you are somewhat close to caught up, you get 2 orders a day. One is 24h duration the other is 12h (expires at 7pm in my timezone). These will mostly be acuity but can also be 1kp catchup or finishing reagents. In addition, you will get some orders with a 7day duration, often these will show up mid-week and not on reset. These often contain the 2kp items or runes, and tend to be more expensive crafts in my experience.
      If you are behind in kp, I'm not sure where the cutoff is but I'd guess around 50kp behind. You will get 7-10 orders per day, a big mix of all types above. Don't think I've ever noticed more than 1 of the 12h orders, but I have seen 4 or so of the 7day orders at once.

      I do not know if I want it to go back to the original, but I definitely do not enjoy this system. It feels like I can either make gold with crafting or play the rest of the game. Staying in town to announce my availability to make people things is not fun for me.

    At this point, we are at ~200 knowlegde points total for each profession. Do you not think it is a problem that it will take 10 weeks to catch up a crafting profession when you can do the same in one day for enchanting?

    • @kaychak807
      @kaychak807  3 дні тому

      From a gold making perspective you don’t need to be 100% caught up, I’m making a fortune from the LW I setup in this video today.

  • @Moonwired
    @Moonwired 3 дні тому

    Yes, BUT theres like goddamn 50k catch up crafts I usually skip. The catchups reupdate daily, so around 2-4 points per day, which is like 20 a week? I’ve been doing that for about a month now. So that sounds about right, there seems to be a BIT of a discrepancy between you saying you “caught” up in two weeks? How do u translate 40kps to the 150+ points u’d be behind on fresh characters?

    • @kaychak807
      @kaychak807  3 дні тому

      I had 150 in total after 2 weeks. Like I say in the video, I still have 170 catchup KP available but it’s irrelevant as I’m making gold now because I’m BiS. Any further KP doesn’t improve my build for crafting what I want to craft.

  • @PedroCosta-ey7ob

    ~20 points a week will still take a long time to catch up to a profession IMO. Yes, it works, but it's still a slow catch up

    I think the new crafting system is absolute trash^3 it's the worst of the worst and I it has basically stagnated every profession across several decade long alts to 0 - only herbalist and mining is worth having nowadays....

    It only works for a couple of professions. Meanwhile Tailoring is stuck and has been stuck since the start of the expansion because the only way to get catch up points are for you to fill customer orders via the crafting table. The problem with that is, that outside the games 10-12 npc orders, no one uses the tailoring crafting table. Literally no one. So while my enchanter got all her specialization points in a couple hours through disenchanting, my tailor is stuck only gaining 6-7 points a week.
    Sure its great for gathering cloth, but I can't actually craft most gear in other trees because my points are all put into gathering cloth. It needs a massive overhaul, and it needed it 2 months ago. Either tailors should have a chance of getting a profession knowledge point when crafting, or when gathering.

    • @kaychak807
      @kaychak807  3 дні тому +1

      My tailor is getting these daily as well.

    • @GW2Zaruz
      @GW2Zaruz 3 дні тому +1

      Unsure why you're having this issue. My tailor is the easiest one to do crafting orders on, I get tons of knowledge every day & make money doing it.
      My alchemist gets about 10 patron orders a day but gets poor rewards making it a little pricey to do sometimes.
      Blacksmith I'm getting like 4 patron orders a day & they generally cost 5k+ to complete so are not worthwhile.
      Catchup system seems totally busted for crafting & seems too open to RNG.
      IMO the catchup orders should be limited to basic recipes or guaranteed to provide all mats.

    • @ivenstorm
      @ivenstorm 3 дні тому

      @@GW2Zaruz ....the issue isn't doing crafting orders. The issue is the knowledge points gained by crafting orders and the fact that the crafting table has been busted since Dragonflight. No one uses it for tailoring work orders. And maybe I'm doing it wrong because I'm not advertising in trade chat, but that really shouldn't matter.
      I go on my blacksmith, alchemist, or even leatherworker and I get people asking for recipes to be made. I go on my tailors and see 0. Literally 0. Been that way since launch, hell been that way since DF. If someone wants cloth items they will go to the AH.
      So while my other characters gain knowledge points by making equipment or disenchanting, tailoring has no way to gain knowledge points from crafting when it should.

    • @yarglof
      @yarglof 2 дні тому +1

      @@ivenstormyou don't get any knowledge/catchup from public orders or any orders from other players. The knowledge points come from the NPC patron orders and those refresh daily. Tailoring is quite cheap to do these compared to some other professions.

    • @ivenstorm
      @ivenstorm 2 дні тому

      @@yarglof I get that, but that's what I was pointing out as flawed. Yes, its dirt cheap, but your limited to however many patron orders pop up in order to advance knowledge points. Some days you may have 5 or 6 points, other days you'll have as little as 3. Whereas gathering professions, and even Enchanting don't have that same issue.
      Which is why I don't particularly like the knowledge system for crafting professions. If you put in the work you should have access to those points. Not time gated into waiting. Just my thought on it.
