  • Hello friends,
    We head to the woods for the weekend to spend some time campfire cooking under an LLP parachute canopy we recently erected in the woodland. All of our meals were cooked on the Petromax fs56 Fire Bowl/Griddle; a really nice hot plate for base camp group cooking. You can buy the griddle in a number of different sizes, here's a link to the Petromax website -
    www.petromax.d...
    You can pick the one I have up at the Bushcraft Store, I didn't buy mine from there but I use the shop regularly and the service is first class.
    Cheers all and happy camping!
    Ben.

    Sod that parachute for a laugh. Knowing my luck, the wind would catch it and I’d end up in Russia 🤔😂

    Another top camp out, your very lucky to have that space to ...lets face it.. Play outdoors! Hopefully you've got some truck camping adventures in the pipeline with travel becoming more accessible? Its just the testing/costs that are the pain I know. Anyway keep up the public service of 'beer reviews' too. ATB Russ.

      Cheers Russ, aye it's great being able to go up to the woods. Hopefully we'll get back on the road next year, we'll see what the crack is this winter before we book owt but I reckon it'll all blow over soon enough 👍. ATB mate.

    Love the simplicity of cooking on that pan.
    Glug of oil, knob of butter fried eggs with runny yolk and crispy edges!

    Man! Wish i had a permission place like this. That parachute is immense! Great idea, may even keep some heat in. Great video again, couldn't quite pick up what Tris said when coming back from the truck. Thanks again, look forward to the next video. :-)

      @@whatsnottohike Nice one mate, I was watching your wild camping trips, you live in a great area for it. I reckon you must be in wild boar territory? I heard a few in the night when we were over your way in the 4x4, I wouldn't like to come face to face with one of them that's for sure!

    • @whatsnottohike

      @@Adventure-Outdoors cheers for watching. Yeah, wild boar everywhere and it's hunting season right now! Weirdly, ive only ever seen one and that was when I walked the camino, but in some areas here they're like the urban fox, scavenging through bins etc. yes, great wild camping area but €1500 fine if caught, although pitching late and packing early helps. Pyrenees the law is different, it's allowed as long as you are packed by first light and not just sitting around in the tent all day. Thanks again 😁

    Greetings from southern Catalunya.
    Another fabulous video from your bushcamp which is a great set up altogether.
    The parachute is a good idea and I was wondering where you got it - Army & Navy stores again lol. It would work great up at my place in the mountains for the summer to keep off the direct sunlight - it can get up to 35c+ but if you have good shade its comfortable.
    You looked like Chris Hemsworth splitting those logs - quite a pose you struck!
    That Petromax is a handy piece of kit - you could use it as a shield when you're not cooking with it.
    Anyways, thanks for another very pleasant 25 minutes.
    Take care, stay safe.

      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому

      Cheers Paul! I bought the parachute from eBay, they pop up for sale occasionally. It was £85 and had never been used, it would be great as a sun shade but time will tell how it stands up to the winter over here. Atb 👍

    Can you show us around your cabin in the woods please ? Or is there a video of you building it ?

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому

      Hi, I didn't film building it as I done it after work in the autumn so most of it was built in the dark. There's not much to show inside, it's more of a tool shed for forestry work than a cabin, but it's comfortable enough to sleep in. Thanks for watching 👍

      @@Adventure-Outdoors I assumed you owned the wood to be able to build a cabin and set up a camp like you have (which looks brilliant). Or are you a forester and manage woodland ?

    Great videos. Which maps do you use to plan your offroad routes in France and Spain? I've got the TET ones for the bike but they don't seem suitable for 4x4 travel.

      Hi Ian, I used the Vibraction books for most of the trips, they’re a French company so the books are in French but they include gps way points etc. so really easy to follow. I’ve also followed routes from the ‘Wikiloc’ app which is also really useful 👍. www.vibraction.org/road-books/

    A couple of videos ago you used some sleeping mats in the front of the Toyota any chance of letting me have the name of them and were you got them from thanks.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому

      Hi mate, they were the 'Exped Synmat 7 LW' sleeping mats. They cost around £115 and have an integral pump or can be inflated with a pump sack, they're also rated down to -17. They might be overkill if you just want to use them in the car, I reckon any inflatable mat around 7cm thick or upwards will be enough to level the seats out. But they are excellent cold weather camping mats, really good quality and very comfortable 👍.

    Abhorists the tree climbers use little weighted throwing bags to get ropes and line's over high branches you can get them off ebay, saw a bloke do it by swinging it between his legs and and chuck it over his head backwards, made it look easy but bet it's not lol.

    • @Adventure-Outdoors
      @Adventure-Outdoors  2 роки тому

      Yeah I’ve seen them do it, probably not as easy as it looks. I did think about trying to shoot some string over a branch using my bow and arrow, I decided against it though 😂.
