The executives meddled so hard with this one. The idea was for a comfy heartfelt movie about Hoopa finding its place in the world, but then some guy from The Pokemon Company said, "hey, we've got these games coming out called Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, and one of the things players can do in these games is go through wormholes and capture legendary Pokemon from previous games. Because of this gimmick we're going to need you to make the movie about legendaries fighting each other to hype the kids up for the new games," despite the fact that such a narrative was completely incompatible with the charming and comfy idea the movie staff had in mind. As a result of the executive meddling ruining the intended plot the movie ended up sucking and is fairly universally regarded as the worst Pokemon movie.
