Came in this morning to my Mom's ,Just checking in on her..My 70 year old Momma was watching your channel all night. Sleeping in her recliner. She gave up her room to her two disabled friends..all the stuff from her room got put in the living room ..and she's sleeping in her recliner. No one is helping her with anything ... I've never seen her house like this . Hiring a cleaning lady today to get it back in order and have a conversation with the other ladies and family. She said everything in the black bags is going out the door , So she can find peace from depression. My heart hurts ..I had no idea it was this bad on her. 😢 She said she's being her own hero.. as her son and at her health and age , that's not something she should ever have to say. People ,watch out for your parents ,they may not tell you things are bad so you don't worry .well Worry.. ! Don't let friends take advantage of their kindness.

As a 70 yr old Mom, It is lonely when children grow up, have their own lives and just don't have time for us. Take care of her, we are only here for a little while longer. ❤

Hugs ❤ My parents are in their early 90's. It's very stressful ensuring they are not taken advantage of. They cannot be treated as fully functioning adults as dementia takes hold and their understanding and memories deteriorate.

Your mom is a sweetheart to give up her own room. I'm glad you checked on her. Sounds like her "friends" are really taking advantage of her and she is too kind hearted to say No and that is something you will probably have to do. I'm with you, their familes should be looking out for them. Maybe she could take her room back and they could stay in the living room, if they have to stay. At least she could have some peace in her own home. That's sad.
I took care of my mom until she was 95 and she remained in her own home. Thanks for looking out for her.

Cas… I did something…. On the closet day I spent my Saturday evening going through my closet…
I couldn’t stop at the 5 minutes.. I tried on clothes, I looked in my bins (I also don’t have a dresser), I asked my daughter for input on a few outfits, and I put a few clothes (ones that don’t fit currently) up in bins where I cant reach them..
I got rid of 52 things!!!! With a few more in the laundry that I wanted to wash first before I donated them.
    I feel lighter!!!!

Cas, an idea for you is to take your Christmas socks, Christmas PJs, and any other holiday clothes and put them with your holiday decor instead. Then you don't have to look past them every day the rest of the year, which teaches your brain that it's ok to look past items you aren't using, which is bad brain training. 😂 Thank you so much for this challenge, i can't believe how much I'm enjoying it!

I've given birth to three kids in the last 4 years. My body has fluctuated back and forth between 160-210 lbs during that time, landing somewhere in the middle. Needless to say, there are clothes I've hung onto with the dreams of someday squeezing back into, but GOODNESS, my body has "transformed" during motherhood!! Hips widening to carry my babes, bra-size expanding (along with my ribcage)-- and not to mention the not-so-"snatched"-waist I once had. 🤣
I want to embrace it all, but every time I go to my closet with the glimmer of hope that I might fit back into some of my favorite skirts and dresses that once made me feel so cute and fashionable, I am stabbed in the back with reality. It put me in tears a few times, feeling large, frumpy, and less-than-adorable. Watching these decluttering videos that you're putting out, Cas, I'm realizing that some of these clothes are "toxic bullies," and I DON'T need that kind of cruelty tearing me down in MY OWN CLOSET. My body was forged in the furnace of child-bearing, and it is BEAUTIFUL. God has shaped me perfectly to be a safe place to carry my precious children, and I will NOT be bullied by old clothes into thinking that I am anything less than lovely.
Thank you for putting the words to my emotional hang-up over clothes (I'm certainly never gonna forget the term "toxic bully", lol). I feel like I can finally let these ol' outfits go!! 💜

Okaaay, found 11 Things in my drawers. The only hard thing was to use up the whole 5 minutes as I had 5 items within two.
But what is much more amazing is, that I started going through the four moving boxes that I had stacked in a corner since 2017! I only knew that one had some of my paper stuff and the others were when my Dad had to go into an retirement home and we packed up his house. Two of the boxes were stuff for him that I never got to him as his room there was stuffed full already. He died in 2020. So I didn't want to touch them after. Now I did. Sorted out the paperwork - lots of paper trash - and want through 1 1/2 of the boxes with my Dad's things already and managed to throw out a lot. Phew.
    Thanks Cas!

I had my septic tank back up about 3 years ago, and I had to clean out my bedroom closet in the bathroom. It makes sense to have your clothes in there, so you dress right after your shower. That caused me to clean out the closet and move on to my dresser. I also set priorities. I'm not keeping slacks without pockets. In my desk drawer, I'm not keeping pens with caps. I use pens that click. I think this makes decluttering easier.

Ok, Cas. Real life… I fell off the challenge in practice (not in heart or mind), and have this whole week to catch up (another day!). I had about 30 min before the next thing, so I wanted to do 2 days’ videos from this week. I couldn’t decide bc nothing sounded fun (ADHD brain), but I chose bathroom and dresser drawers. Because I need a larger declutter, clean, organize in those areas I was hesitant to do anything. The miracle of 5 minutes!
By the end of both videos, I had half a trash bag and small donation box of never used winter fluffy socks (also perimenopausal and hot feet make me 😡). THANK YOU for your wonderful humor and coaching body double self! This challenge makes such a difference and the dopamine burst makes me enjoy the next item in my day. 💕💕💕

I don't have a dresser so I decluttered my bedroom floor. With 10 cats that love to "play" with anything lying around or pull tissues from their boxes and run around with them ... while we sleep ... its necessary to declutter the floor (pick up everything tossed on the floor) and decide whether it has to stay or go. Loving this challenge

I'm still truckin' along but my wardrobe is by far, the most challenging space for me. My size changes so quickly so I end up hanging on to extras (I have morning and evening pants because my belly will swell up to 4" per day) but my worst culprit are the dresses for occasional events. I have 5-6 for regular wear and maybe 30 for a imaginary, specific situations.

The best thing I've done is choosing a uniform, choosing a top and bottom for each day. Kind of like Taco Tuesday, but in outfit form.
    My dresser has 5 drawers.
The top is for unmentionables and socks.
Second drawer I literally labeled Mon, Tues & Wed. It has a top and a bottom x3.
Third drawer I labeled Thurs, Fri & Sat, which also has a top and bottom x3.
Fourth drawer is for Sunday for fall/winter, it has 2 pants and 4 sweaters.
Bottom drawer is PJs and workout clothes and junk/work projects clothes.
I have 2 shorts and 4 short sleeve shirts that get swapped for spring/summer uniforms that will rotate back in to the drawers next year. I just keep those on a closet shelf.
I've been doing this a year and it has been SO easy to get dressed in the morning!

Still going strong! Found a few extra purses when I was cleaning up another area of my house later yesterday…so I threw those in the donation box. Sock drawer so nice to have it reorganized and not grabbing mismatched items. I’d gone through my dresser drawers about a month ago, but it’s crazy how you think you found everything you don’t want…and I found more to get rid of. I wouldn’t have the motivation to do this without you & this challenge.
Pretty nightgowns….but yeah…I have that issue with some I have….but being a single mom with two boys and houses close together on my street….a sweatshirt or robe is put on before I let the dog out or if I hear my boys awake before I’m out of my bedroom. A top I was wearing traveling one time kept shifting so my bra would start showing…I was figity with it the whole day I was traveling….deciding now if I should wear a sports bra with it or just get rid of it 🤔🤔🤔

I love the self positive approach you give. Such as “does this nite gown make you feel GOOD about yourself??” That actually makes de-hoarding clothes almost easy for me!! My problem is, what do I DO with all the “get rid of” stuff?? In CA you have to pay for donation trucks/places for drop offs. That’s when I end up with piles of bags that hog space until I go thru them, and say “oh I always liked this, I’ll put it back in a drawer”. Grrrrr!
