Thank you very much, It's always nice to hear that someone finds the content useful. I know almost everything I know from UA-cam, so like to give back knowledge when I can. I used these on a very wet trip - video to be released in 2024, and they did a stellar job. Everything was bone dry the whole trip.

It's cool that there is a side pouch and not have to dig for quick needed items.

I have a well working system now. In one side pocket goes my frying pan (filled with cooking accessories), and in the other, every other small item (swiss army knife, first aid, toothbrush, toilet roll, USB battery pack, headtorch etc). It means I always know where things are! (I have a 50/50% chance of opening the correct side pocket first, but I'm going to label them soon!)

Got the Vaude Aqua back (non plus) and I like it thank you.

I have found the extra side pockets, although convenient, do hit off things a lot, so I can see the benefits of not having them too! Glad you like the panniers!

@@allyburns1 Yea. It's perfect! Maybe the Oerlieb closing system is better but the capacity of the Vaude for the price is better. I wish it was bigger but if it was It would be too cumbersome. I daily drive a single one everyday as a trunk for commuting and add the second for groceries, I eventually plan of going camping with those. I have no regrets choosing the version without side pockets and couldn't be happier.

This is a very long shot, but do you happen to still have the pair of old panniers? If so I'd very much like to buy them.
I bought the same ones from Halfords 10 probably 15 years ago, and used them so much they've gone into holes, so rather than researching new panniers I did a search to see if my old ones were still out there somewhere, and found this video.
I don't do long journeys, just many short ones so I did away with the extra straps, just use the two hooks & spring clip at the top to hold them on my pannier rack now.

Hey! Believe it or not I am still quite attached the the Halfords ones, and use them sometimes for small trips where I'm not carrying as much. I did damage the zip on the side pocket of one - it got caught in the wheel somehow, so as a pair they are a bit tainted now! Hopefully you are able to find a replacement set similar to these old classics. If I do manage to part with them you'll be the first to know!

    how about a follow-up long-term review?

I'd love to. Lockdown meant I haven't got to use them properly, but I have a few nice adventures planned soon, so will be able to put them through their paces. Be good if it rained too for testing purposes, not that I want it to. I do live in Scotland so might not be too hard to arrange 🤣

thank you, it was very entertaining. The videography was terrible though. Going to subscribe, i like the humour. "35 minutes of my life gone" How did it take so long??

Thank you 😀 Agree on videography, sometimes I just fancy reviewing something and go for it. Perfection is the enemy of progress! I know what goods videography look like, and that sometimes stops me from filming stuff!

You know what, fuck the quality issues if that’s the case, just do it.
