Same here. I hope the dialogues and interactions in the game itself will be great, but I can see they are seeing what the story needs - it needs more mysteries, more fun stories and more commander-centric storyline! It's great being a full-time adventurer again! :D
The Kryptis give me Afflicted vibes. I don't think they'll be related, but they do have a vibe for me. I guess they also have fleshreaver vibes which is a monster type that since Eye of the North has not seen much coverage. I'm glad they didn't feel the need to go down the "EVEN MORE DEVASTATING" story route. I don't think that subsequent threats need to be increasingly more devastating.
Can you do a Zojja 'tribute video' (not sure what the right term is)? Something with clips of Zojja interspersed with your comments, which give gw2 newcomers a sense of who Zojja was, and give vets a nice nostalgia trip.
I really wish GW2 would do something FFXIV did: Give the story time to breathe. Waging a war against the Elder Dragons is not some trivial event that all societies in Tyria can just recover from overnight. Remember the last time we see Amnoon in the Personal Story, it was devastated in a Branded attack? GW2 maps are frozen in time and can't progress past that point in the story, so we will never see how the City of Amnoon recover. Any recovery process from this war has to be long and arduous, but GW2 has long had a problem of blitzing through too many events without letting them breathe, letting the consequences of those events soak in to the players. Where is the big memorial for all the asura that died in Rata Novus? Where is the mass crisis of faith among 3 human civilizations when news got out that 5 of their 6 Gods have abandoned mortals to fight the Elder Dragons alone (betraying Kormir's promise at the end of GW1's Nightfall campaign)? What do the Exalted even do after the war? Are the norn elders even having a discussion about making the pilgrimage back north of Shiverpeaks now that the Jormag threat is gone? Did any charr Imperators ever broach the topic of what charr do in peace time now that their defectors to Jormag are defeated? Is there finally going to be an ideological clash between the Olmakhan and Black Citadel Imperators? Is there any progress in de-propagandizing Elonian loyalists of Joko? Is there any result to the endless debates between factions of the new United Kingdom of Elona past what we saw in Jahai Bluffs? So many topics to explore. So little time ArenaNet is willing or capable of allocating to them.
So, those new enemies come from the mists, I'm hoping if you play revenant in the new expansion you'll get some unique dialogue or even skills to use, like what they did with the "legendary prisoner" (joko) stance in LWS4! ily KROOF 🖤
It would be so funny to me if they went with the meme and made Zojja have Mordremoth's baby, I know it's unlikely but I'd piss myself from laughing for real. Anyways, really excited about all the Astral Ward and Kryptis stuff, demons is one of my favorite things from GW1, and just having done with the Oni stuff in Gyala and going into SotO immediately is so cool, I hope we get to explore the nature of Kryptis, learn where they come from, how they are created, and who's behind them (Menzies?).
I don't like lur, I LUV it. Zojja being our only familiar companion is going to be super interesting. Why do I feel like there's going to be a "new kid in school" sort of vibe to this expac? I can already feel us getting asked "who are you, again?" and Zojja telling us to sit down because the real wizards are talking.
I would really love that shift. The "Commander" is so used to "running the show" in the way people treat them. So, I would appreciate that feeling of being almost a fresh hero to the game.
