- As part of their hard-earned 15 minutes of live airtime the day before, Joko Winterscheidt and Klaas Heufer-Umlauf wanted to know from experts what would happen if there were no longer a united Europe from tomorrow. The artificial intelligence provided dystopian images to accompany the horror scenarios of the interviewees.
This is the Outside Views channel on UK politics after Brexit.
Brexit did not happen immediately after the Brexit referendum in 2016. There were exhausting negotiations between the UK and the EU first about the exit of the UK and then about the future relationship between the EU and the UK.
After the official Brexit on January 31st in 2020, where the UK officially left the EU and with it the Parliament, there was a transitional period until December 31st in 2020 to implement the new relationship.
There are some longer transitional periods for some areas, but this was the main one.
People are talking a lot about the level of preparation for Brexit on different sides or the lack of.

Sunak hit the panic button when he saw the economic figures 😂 He really wants out and fast 😂🤣
His green card and estate in California awaits 🤬
I suspect criminal lawyers will be scrutinising Uk finances when labour are elected into power. Starmer was a Chief criminal prosecutor for five years. Covid contracts. Contracts for family and mates. Denying the ill a basic income. Allowing water companies to po.lute Uk rivers and seas while failing to invest in adequate infrastructure. The failing Rwanda bill. Attempts to discredit Starmer and Rayner have all but failed. Dirty money in london financial sector. Mis use of public money for private equity investors. Starmer will have a field day.
@@colinsmith1288
Well, that was done over here in Germany, the former federal minister for traffic, infrastructure etc, Scheuer/CSU, signed a contract with this company, which supposedly would handle the whole of "collecting toll fees etc"= it was about the toll for all none German cars, driving through Germany...eventhough it was clear, that that goes against EU laws = all or none = equality...and the bosses of the company contracting him, told him to wait, as it's not decided yet by EU authorities, and when he signs = then the company WILL claim compensation !!
He did it anyway = damage for Germany = € 243 millions the "toll desaster" ...
BUT the court decided, that to claim him paying back = wouldn't be helpfull, as it would have the effect, that no politician would like to be in charge anymore...
So don't expect too much, but I cross the fingers anyway 🤞
Edit typo/autocorrect
This is no panic button, please.

Rungholt comes to mind 😎
Brussels receives about 2% the (tax) revenue of 🇺🇸 Washington DC 's, surely making the whole 🇪🇺 project rather good value for its 450m citizens 🤔
Right - the total EUrope budget, everything included, is smaller than the USA military budget. And then - the EU budget is for 7 years, while the USA budgets are for one single year 🤣
@@uweinhamburg Therefore the 🇪🇺 with its four cornerstones, provides relative commercial value for its citizens with psychological enhancement (freedom of movement) 🤔
@@charrogate Yeah - EUrope runs like a well oiled machine! Ok, most of the operational work is done on national level and there are big differences in efficiency but for the top level organization EUrope gets a 👍
Most critics from the outside focus on minor elements like CAP, without understanding that this was the element of the system with the most improvements over the last 2 decades. At least we manage to feed 450 million people and keep our continent clean and attractive at the same time!
i remember the pre-EU time, Feta cheese, Parma ham, and Parmigiano were rare and expensive, not to mention Spanish food or French cheese, so when on holiday my parents smuggled food over the border, criminal businessmen got rich by importing and exporting goods and claim back taxes and import, export substitutes, on the holiday you could stand up to 2 days in the traffic to pass the border, depend a little on the good mood of the border control for Italy, or Hungary, not to mention Czechoslovakia (fun fact a businessman created a shopping center in the no man land between Austria and Czech and so avoid to pay taxes got also rich with it, and a good place to buy cigarettes, drugs or even guns (special from the Russian army) yes the great old times. Music, books, and movies were limited (out of copyright or government restrictions) Phones were only with a disk, no others allowed, and import of them prohibited, same with computers, games, or other technical devices(all need to be certified for the country, no certification no permission) same with medicine or food btw. and then my mother, she worked in an importer for sports equipment, not only to get permission for things, but the tax formula was such fun, a swimming pool, was one simple product, but the metal wall had a different tax number like the metal pools, the Sand also a different one (needed some special sand) and the plastic skin, not that the skin would have the same paperwork like the plastic cover, what also warms up the water, no different paper and the sand for the filter needed different paper like the one for the ground. and there were many more parts, but I guess this picture becomes clear. I also ordered once a climbing tool from Japan, the toll held it and requested a send-back, they never have seen it before, and it could be dangerous and hurt people(strange argument when a stick or a stone can hurt people, but this was the regulations) or taking a train, get waked up all few hours to show the passport, sometimes even get the luggage checked and the train can go further when this is done over the whole train how much, this could have taken hours, and there is the problem with the Visa not even mention, how much I don't miss this times.
@lucabaki You have an interesting mother.!
It is a very, very hypothetical question, but let's assume for a minute it would happen...
30 minutes after that, the old EEC countries would start talks about building a new united group of states along the EU model and most of the others would beg to be allowed to join in the talks, and i would not be surprised if the UK would be part of that (of course with a long list of special benefits only applicable for them 🤣)
You need a huge territory been covered by the united group to offer the real estate needed to fold in the British list of special benefits ....
@@peterebel7899 Well yes, but then you need some big school units to fit in the needs of special needs pupils...
And Brits are special, don't we agree?
I'm old now - if i remember it well, one of the biggest problem of the ancient EEC has been the enormous over-production of food! Wouldn't a country which is unable to feed its citizen be a good addition (as long as they are able to pay for the food 🤣)
@@uweinhamburg ... pay for the food?
Was this ever the economic basis of a pirates' nest no matter the size?
The support for the EU is higher than EVER in the history of the European Union 🇪🇺 so end of that story.
You never had spoken with Putin!
I see Pootin every time I see 🐕 💩
@lucabaki Oh no 😬 We 🇪🇺 Don’t want to become the USA of the Europe. USA has multiple flaws. What needs to happen is that USA becomes the EU. USA is not a democracy. Their voting system is horrendous. Having two separate chambers (Congress and Senate) is also anti democratic. They say that they don’t have a king and the President has stupid amount of power… I can go on and on listing the flaws of the USA. System of the European Union 🇪🇺 is not copied from the USA! It is copied from Finland 🇫🇮 The power lies on the European Parliament that we the European People vote in free and democratic elections. Then the structure with all the different committees is to find solutions and overseeing the implementation of the laws. Commission is there to work for the Parliament and Oarliament can fire Commission. So don’t look in to the USA because they have to look in to the Europe to fix their system. Instead look in to Finland and Estonia. Estonia copied the Finnish system when they became free from Ruzzia. Finland is the blueprint of democracy that we the Europeans want. USA got their system from the UK and UKs feudal system is beyond stupid.
@lucabaki Finland 🇫🇮 is the oldest democracy in the world and our “founders” were geniuses. Our Supreme Court is the Parliament who represents us. Because of the voting system it is extremely hard to corrupt and the people have the final say with everything.
@lucabaki We 🇪🇺 need to come closer in Europe, but that has to happen so that European Member States copies the things from the Finland so that every one member state has democracy. No separate chambers (Germany). Prime ministers are not kings (Hungary). Ok That list is long 🤔 because we have too many flawed variations. Most importantly every nation in the EU has to copy the voting system of the Finland 🇫🇮 Why? Because we vote directly the candidate. We don’t vote for the party. Parties don’t have any say who goes in to the Parliament and in which order. That all is decided by us and we the voters are brutal. Our Prime Minister not so long ago lied in the Parliament and he had to resign and next elections he lost his seat. Our current Prime Minister lied in front of the Parliament and his days are now numbered. He is not out yet, but he will be. They are now investigating the case. Finnish people have zero tolerance for BS and our system provee that it works.
Great content as always Marc. Thank you.
Moin Marc 😊,
ARD/ZDF/Mr Wissen to go did that already in April 2024, 2020, 2021= well done docus to watch...
Sunny greetings 😊
We'll never know
Well, research was done about that subject, there were various "documentaries" about that, shown in 2020, 2021, 2024... All on yt = ARD/ZDF/Mr Wissen to go 😊

IT. WOULD. BRING. A. GREAT DEAL OF HAPPINESS TO BREXITEERS , AND THEN THEY COULD TURN ROUND TO US REMAINERS AND SAY TOLD YOU SO, IT AINT GOING TO HAPPEN BROTHER IT AINT GOING TO HAPPEN,! that’s just wishful thinking,
If the E.U. fell apart, Vladimir Putin would waste no time in putting it back together again. Not only that but considerably expanded, and Moscow would be the new capital.
NO.
Because there still is NATO 😊
And if Trump is re-elected?
@@martinforester3471
Well = NATO troops =
USA = 1,35 million troops
EU27, EFTA, UK, Turkiye = 2 million troops 😊
And those are the active troops only...😎
The number of refugees entering the UK might have increased but the total amount of migrants is down.
Complete tosh!
Back in reality, the ONS figures show that legal immigration into the UK has nearly doubled.
@@gloin10 back to reality? the EU migrants were not included in the figures as they did not need visas, migration from the EU has dropped massively. Most legal migration now is either students or short term visas for shortage industries eg. health care..
Union projects are easier when integrating nations have geographical land borders.
Continental Europe lends itself to natural interconnection whereas 🏴 🏴 🏴 Britain with its sea border is naturally more disconnected 🤔
Like the island of Ireland, Malta, Cyprus and half of Greece 🙄
Oh, how so? And how does a little strip of land connecting Skandinavia with the rest of the EU prevent whatever it is that is preventing GB to interconnect?
Sounds more like a psychological/educational /exceptionalism issue to me, not a physical one.
About "interconnectors" =
the UK and Germany started the project = interconnector sea cable for renewables = built by Siemens Energy = starts at =
Isle of Grain/UK to Wilhelmshaven/Germany 😊
Will provide renewable electricity for 1,5 million households...
Fully private project... 😎
@@saba1030l think physical trade with land based borders is always cheaper and easier. I know Scotland and England trade well with one another because of this as does England and Wales and quicker aswell.

Yes and no.
Going back in time looking at the "Hanseatic League" = from Bergen/Norway to China, India and African Continent etc, trade always was all around the world, and never hindered us humans to do so ...
