Josie and the Pussycats had two seasons. The second season was "Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space". The reason Hanna-Barbera stopped using them was because the characters were borrowed from Archie Comics, and they had to pay Archie Comics to use them.

VotD was awesome. Dan nala yo jadbalja. Tarzan was the schlitz, and second only to Jonny Quest. Many of the HB cartoons were worked on by my brilliant and dear friend, the late Don Morgan.
Some how I missed the Tarzan cartoon. It almost sounds like they followed the books where the Tarzan from the books was intelligent and articulate. You did have one from the late 60's. I am trying to remember when George of the Jungle came out. An excellent work by The guys that did Rocky and Bullwinkle. It got me up early on Saturday mornings.
Seams like they all had similar characters. I kept thinking that big dude on Josie & The Pussycats was Fred from Scooby Doo. There was also a dude in that one called Speed Buggy that I swear was Shaggy.
Yeah, I think Tinker (the guy from Speed Buggy) was later explained to be a distant cousin of Shaggy in one of the Scooby-Doo movies that Speed Buggy co-starred. Personally, I think it was because HB was so cheap that they reused whatever they could - which also explained how Shmoo wound up hanging out with Fred and Barney later on.
Watch all of these. Barely remember Gulliver's Travels but remember the animation. Not familiar with The Nitwits though. Tarzan was created by Filmations. Same animation studio that did Blackstar, He-Man and She-Ra! 😊

IIRC, Gulliver originally failed, so HB repurposed it as a segment that aired during the Banana Splits, along with Arabian Knights, 3 Musketeers, Danger Island, and Shazzan! ....Geeze, I'm old. -___-;
Back in 2001, before the rights were settled and the DVD was released, a fellow on eBay was selling ripped versions he grabbed with his VHS back when they originally aired. The quality is just my speed! Not perfect like today's productions but TV reception wasn't always good where I grew up so I'm totally cool with the odd bit of snow in the image or audio skips. Have a look around, maybe there is still some of that out there.
@InformationIsTheEdge I had my daughter watch the Tarzan cartoons with me, and she really liked them. It was fun to watch her face when I said all of it was hand drawn.
There's several not quite legal cartoon channels out there showing literally every cartoon you could ever wish to see. One that is safe and devoid of pop up junk ads is called WCOSTREAM. They charge for movies now, but all shorts (like Looney Tunes) and TV series (like The Simpsons) are free.
I remember watching Josie and the Pussycats, CB Bears, Robonic Stooges, and Dynomut Dog Wonder. You also left out The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, New Adventures of Batman, Drac Pack, Fat Albert, Shazam, etc.
Cool! I recognize about half including part 1!! So the Baggy pants character Gladys kinda reminds me of the Gladys Ormphby character played by Ruth Buzzi on Laugh In! Got a list from the back of my mind with older stuff; FELIX THE CAT 1958 MISTER MAGOO 1960-62 BEANY AND CECIL 1962-67 THE MIGHTY HERCULES 1963-1966 JOHNNY QUEST 1964-65 SPACE GHOST 1966 SUPER CHICKEN 1967-69 DUDLEY DO-RIGHT 1969-70 SPEED BUGGY 1973 GRAPE APE 1975 Thanks for the memories as Bob Hope used to sing! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
I was always distutbed by the idea that Captain Caveman was actually just a naked hairy man hanging around with three teenage girls that just was wrong. Still, I did have a soft spot for Valley of the Dinosaurs as I always liked dinosaurs and Tarzan Lord of the Jungle was a particular favourite even though the Monkey was a bit annoying at times.
Back in the 70's growing up television was a side piece of our daily life we didn't spend hours in front of it but when we did tune in it was adventure in a box driven by a outside antenna its where i learned a lot about the world which back then seemed so big and wonderful with mystery abounding. We couldn't get but 2 are 3 channels and by time 80's rolled around those unseen shows that we couldn't pick up through the 70's was a mystery in itself that i was curious to see and with newer channels appearing around atlanta ga along with cable tv i was able to see shows that i never saw from years and decades before and it was so much fun and my curiosity was on full display . Those where golden years.

Saturday mornings also included Arc II (2) Shazam, Isis, and Big Blue Marble. Cartoons such as Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space, Groovin Ghoulies, Planet of the Apes, and the many versions of Scooby Doo.

George of the Jungle came out around 1966, but was re-run during the 70s.
Seams like they all had similar characters. I kept thinking that big dude on Josie & The Pussycats was Fred from Scooby Doo. There was also a dude in that one called Speed Buggy that I swear was Shaggy.
Yes, a lot of the characters from different series _did_ look [a lot] alike!
I remember noticing this as a kid.
Tarzan was one of my favorites
Definitely remembered a few there. The New Shmoo and of course Tarzan was a favourite.
Watch all of these. Barely remember Gulliver's Travels but remember the animation. Not familiar with The Nitwits though. Tarzan was created by Filmations. Same animation studio that did Blackstar, He-Man and She-Ra! 😊
Totally get you! Filmation had some epic stuff back then. Tarzan was a vibe for sure! What’s your favorite from that era?

IIRC, Gulliver originally failed, so HB repurposed it as a segment that aired during the Banana Splits, along with Arabian Knights, 3 Musketeers, Danger Island, and Shazzan! ....Geeze, I'm old. -___-;
I watched most of the ones on this list, when I was a kid, in the 70s. I really loved Star Trek the Animated Series, the best, in 1973 to 1974.🙂
I still like to use Grump's catchphrase from Gulliver "Ohh NOO, we're all gonna die!".
Glum. We're doomed, we'll never make it.
I'm 63 still love them😅
I found Tarzan season 1 on dvd. Wish they would come out with the rest.
Loved Valley of the dinosaurs!
For a Saturday morning cartoon, the animation in Tarzan was exceptionally good.
I remember watching Josie and the Pussycats, CB Bears, Robonic Stooges, and Dynomut Dog Wonder. You also left out The New Adventures of Mighty Mouse, New Adventures of Batman, Drac Pack, Fat Albert, Shazam, etc.
Cool! I recognize about half including part 1!! So the Baggy pants character Gladys kinda reminds me of the Gladys Ormphby character played by Ruth Buzzi on Laugh In! Got a list from the back of my mind with older stuff;
FELIX THE CAT 1958
MISTER MAGOO 1960-62
BEANY AND CECIL 1962-67
THE MIGHTY HERCULES 1963-1966
JOHNNY QUEST 1964-65
SPACE GHOST 1966
SUPER CHICKEN 1967-69
DUDLEY DO-RIGHT 1969-70
SPEED BUGGY 1973
GRAPE APE 1975
Thanks for the memories as Bob Hope used to sing! Peace 🕊️☮️♾️😎
Wheelie and the chopper bunch, Johnny Quest, magilla, the Chan clan…😂😂great stuff
And top cat
Cool list. in my 70's childhood there was also Mazinger Z, The Star Blazers, G Force and others.
Now I seen the Globetrotters I love that cartoon
I loved Valley of the Dinosaurs as a kid. I still love dinos at 59!
I miss those cartoons when I was a kid living in The Bronx New York. I also liked Tarzan and The Super Seven.
You used mostly Globetrotters (1974?) Footage while talking about the Super Globetrotters.
Good video, though.
Ya I didn't remember the word Super being in there when I watched!! ☮️
You're right. I was looking for this comment.
You have great taste in Saturday Morning cartoons !
i remember watching Josie and the Pussy Cats in Outer Space
I love how inclusive 70s cartoons were. No stereotyped people of color in these shows. 👏👏👏
A girl on my block used to call me Baggy Pants and the Knitwits because my mom bought my clothes big enough for me to grow into. Man I miss the 70s!
My favourite cartoon was Rocket Robinhood. 1966 to 1969 But I watched it in the early 70's it was the best.
brings back alot of memories these old cartoons i remember most of them i have alot of them on DVD im 55 i still watch these old cartoons.
That's awesome! Old cartoons are the best! Nothing like kicking back with some classic laughs, right?

Valley of the Dinosaurs! Nice.
I wish I could go back,to those days"when things were cool and cartoons were cartoons for all ages.
I remember them all like it was yesterday that I was a little kid watching these on TV.
I watched all these growing up in the 80s
Thank you for sharing your experience! The 80s were such a magical time for entertainment, and I love connecting with others who appreciate it too!

Wow that's incredible...what a stroke for a relatively modern cartoon maker to reach back into history of a Chaplin necessity ....silence...and make a chubby cat/top cat silent...it's genius...Baggy pants +the nit wits a silent cartoon...utter genius....I hope
the guy enjoyed the good life
for thinking this one up!
Saturday mornings also included Arc II (2) Shazam, Isis, and Big Blue Marble.
Cartoons such as Josie and the Pussycats in Outer Space, Groovin Ghoulies, Planet of the Apes, and the many versions of Scooby Doo.
And thank God I never seen baggy pants in the nitwits
Grew up watch’n these cartoons every Saturday Mor’n with a bowl of cereal. 😂😂😂😂
❤❤❤❤❤
I feel like this whole episode was sponsored in part by Hanna Barbera. Nearly every toon mentioned here was produced by them. One thing’s for sure though. They revolutionized animating techniques and helped push for the Saturday morning cartoons segment all of us 70s and 80s kids remember growing up with.
Baggie pants and the Nitwits was my favorite!!❤️
Tarzan lord of the jungle was my favorite, wasn't long before I was swinging through the trees and scaling tennis court fences just like Tarzan, took some practice and some sore arms and legs but I did it everyone in the neighborhood was like who are you? Sure you weren't raised in the jungle?
That’s epic! Swinging through trees and scaling fences? Sounds like you were the jungle's MVP! Keep living that Tarzan life!

I really appreciate you bringing that up! Those shows deserve some love, and your comment helps keep the conversation going!

Mongani, the apes or something like that, I still remember Tarzan, it would actually be good now a days
Tarzan, Lord of the jungle was my favorite out of all 70s cartoons
I remember Josie and the Pussycats. I recognized one or two of the others but most were after my cartoon-watching days.
Tarzan was my favorite Saturday morning cartoon, and years later inspired me to read the Edgar Rice Burroughs novels on which it is based. To date, I've read volumes 1--6, 10, and 21.
You don't see animation like that anymore. 😁🦁🦍🐒
It's awesome to hear how Tarzan inspired you to dive into the novels! The storytelling and animation from those days really had a unique charm.

The cartoon was a lot more like the novels than most movies, except for the lack of violence😁 Nkima was right out of the novels.
