After 53 years of marriage the perfect boiled egg has eluded me until now!!! Thank you so much. Did exactly what you said except I only boiled 6 eggs. Now I will boil a dozen!
I tried these exactly as described. On second batch I discovered that just cold water rinse worked fine for me. On third try, days later, I forgot the timing so I decided to note it here for myself so I don't have to rewatch the entire video every time I forget.. which is usually often ha ha. It's at 2:38 in the video. 2 minutes on high, 15 minute natural release, plunge in cold water. Thank you so much for the video!!!
Great results! I live at 6,800 ft. I have never had to adjust cooking times when using my old style pressure cooker or my instant pot. I followed your recipe and the eggs came out perfect. I did not need to tweak the times. Thanks!
Great information! Got my instant pot yesterday after wanting one for years... And I was instantly intimidated. After watching your do and don't videos last night along with the easy instructional videos like this one... I got up this am and got right to making hard boiled eggs! Thank you for taking the hesitation out of my experience!! Im making your loaded baked potato soup tonight. I can't wait to use this thing even more!
OMG! 2/15 and they are PERFECT! Yoke is so creamy and the white is smooth and consistent... no rubber anywhere! I let my eggs come to room temp on the counter for about 30 minutes before starting my Instant Pot... Thank you so much, that was easy 😋
YOU ARE INCREDIBLE!! I bought a hard boiled egg machine. It takes 20 minutes to cook and you can only do 4 eggs at a time. Thank you so much!! Can't wait to try this!
Thank you so much for the recipes/ cooking tips ! I love the way you explain what you’re doing not going to fast and clearly explaining the process! This is the best instant pot tutorial I've ever seen. You answered EVERY question I had as I watched. I am quite detail oriented and need to see the larger picture overall and then break it all down. This is my first video of yours and I am hooked. Are you a teacher? You definitely have mad teaching skills!
@@marsdegraff9629 As long as the water is boiling before the eggs go in it works great and easy to peel. I take the eggs strait out of the refrigerator. Steaming them in a regular pot (for about 15 min) works too .

I just tried your method but I did 5 minutes of natural release since we like our yolk slightly runny. It was perfect and peeling off the shell was easy. Thank you
Hey Lisa, I just wanted wanted you to know i just did the water test and and boiled eggs! My first thing! I was not nervous. I rewatched both the water test and the egg video one more time. I really could kick myself for leaving it in the box for 4 years. I wish i had found you sooner, but as they say "better late, than never". I just ordered your book also. Just found your channel ! Worked perfect on my first try. I’ve never had good luck peeling eggs in almost 40 years cooking. I did a quick search and you looked like a credible young mom. I will be watching & trying more of your suggestions.
Omg! My life is changed! It took me damn near 30 minutes to peel a dozen eggs (badly at that) a few weeks ago and with this method, the shells came off like nothing! Thank you so much!
I Watched a lot of these videos and decided to try yours since you tried many different methods before you perfected this one. Mine came out perfectly, thank you!!!
Great guide, thank you! ULTRA OWNERS, THIS WORKS! I have an insta pot ultra 8qt, never used it till today. I was not sure this would work since the water ratio for mine must be at least 2 cups to be safe according to the manual. There's not a lot of videos out there for the ultra, so I was legit afraid. I added 6 eggs to the trivet, 2 cups water and when the lid is in the locked position it automatically is set to seal (I can't forget, yay!). I set the dial for high pressure, 2 min, and made sure it was set to "keep warm", and let it do it's thing. The ultra doesn't have the "L" displayed after it's done; it will beep to signal end of cooking and begin to count up on the display (this is natural pressure release). To do the natural pressure release, setting it to "keep warm" before beginning cooking will do it. So, back to the eggs: once the display counted up to fifteen, I pressed the release valve just to be sure, took off the lid and put the eggs into the ice bath. I tested one after just a minute and it was cooked perfectly, and peeled so easily! Oh and for reference, I'm at about 300 ft. elevation.
perfect! i have tried several other methods. they are all good but i think this one is the best.. as far as the shells coming off we use farm eggs from a neighbour. the farms eggs tend to have a tougher shell separation and these actually came off pretty well. so i imagine store bought would come off like a breeze. the egg texture was great, no grey and easy to mush. so thx, great video. the instant pot is sheer wizardry. we've done lots of things. eggs, ribs and chili are the standouts so far.

Dear Lisa, Your channel has consistently been my Instant Pot recipe info go to. Instant Pot Mac & Cheese - using one box of Cheetos Jalapeno & Cheese + one box of Cheetos Bold n' Cheesy while substituting Half and Half for the milk is my favorite. Thank you from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Thank you so much for posting this. Your times and tips are always spot on. I tried this in my 3qt IP - 6 medium eggs, 1 cup water, using the trivet. 1 minute high pressure. 20 minutes natural release. Quick dunk in cold water from the tap. Beautiful yolks for my egg salad. 🥚🧅🍞💕
Thank you! I’ve tried the 5-5-5 and other methods and they always turned out wrong. I made it your way after seeing this video and gave my girlfriend one of the eggs before I tried them. She told me “the whites of these taste creamier than normal” and she was right, they were definitely softer. They were delicious.
Thank you for sharing this I love this method even though it’s the first one I’ve tried but absolutely love it. Hi Lisa!! I recieved a insta pot for Christmas & it sat in the box for too long cause I felt intimidated. Not knowing how to cook anything in it, I UA-cam it and found your videos! I've done potatoes, chicken, mac-n-cheese from a box, and rice. Today with your help I made hard boiled eggs!! They're perfect!! Thanks for the tips. 👍👍👍 I was watching your video…loading my eggs, following along with you in real time, put the lid on, turned the stove on… then you said “be sure you have your sealing ring in…. 🙉 OH NO! Only then did I remember that I previously removed the ring to soak in vinegar to remove food odor accumulation 😂😂😂 …so thank you so much for the reminder. I quickly powered down, replaced the ring, put the lid back on and the water was already so hot my IP immediately came to pressure. 😮 I still ended up with an amazing result! It was the first time in my entire life that I’ve ever made a perfectly cooked HBE…100% yellow yolk with no dark ring! Yay!!! I recently saw another YT video on “SOFT boiled” eggs. I’d love to see YOUR take on SBE 👍 btw the vinegar bath definitely helped, but not to my satisfaction. Anybody else know of a more effective method to get rid of previous food odors absorbed by the sealing ring???
AWESOME video! I've been tasked with bringing deviled eggs to the 4th of July celebration this year. I was looking for a fast easy method of preparing the eggs, WITHOUT heating up the house with the stove.
Of all the hardboiled egg suggestions, Ive tried them all, all types of cooking methods and this is by far the only one that was spot on and had consistent results.
Thank you for your video. Someone gave me a used Instant Pot. I followed your directions, and the appliance did not give me the L-15 count down. I used a timer, and my eggs came out perfect. thank you so much. I am a senior, but I can do hard things, lol.

Thank you thank you! The eggs turned out perfect! I am going to share this about you and watch all your videos 😊 thank you again, you have helped me not be so nervous about using my instant pot☺️
I just did the experiment on a dozen eggs and they came out perfectly. I placed them in cold water and they peeled very easily. I didn't peel them all right away and when I came back in about an hour the others weren't so easy to peel. They were very tender and the yokes were done perfectly. I forget what region of the country you said you live in but our altitude near Knoxville TN is about 800 feet. Another way I like to cook hard boiled eggs in the instant pot is to slow cook them overnight. This gives them a "toasty" milder flavor (whites turn to tan color) , I think in part because it Cooks off most of the sulfur in the eggs. The same as your recipe, I make sure to keep the eggs off the bottom of the instant pot to avoid burnt spots. Give it a try! Nice video, passionate but sensible and not super-hyped. Your child in the background gave it a nice family feel. Keep up the good work!
I did this and hands down the best boiled eggs ive ever had and ive been boiling eggs for my protein diet for 20 years, peeling was unreal its like the shell had no attachment to the eggs itself, i didn't do the cold water bath think its a myth and the results proved it.thanks
I didn’t read to far down in the comments. This worked perfect for me here in North Eastern Ohio thank you! Only thing I don’t think was mentioned was the keep warm setting, I turned it off, have not tested with it on.
I have the ultra model with a knob on the front. Most things are different. I got it set for two minutes, but now it is on keep warm and there is no L showing. Could you do one on the ultra model front panel? Thank you in advance. John
Hey Lisa, I just bought my Instant Pot about two weeks ago and I have gone crazy making recipes in it. I love it ! I have two questions: When you press manual pressure, the "keep warm" button lights up also. Do you always leave the keep warm function on during natural pressure release ? The second question is: When you "hard boiled" the eggs, you pressed the manual pressure button. A light indicating "Normal" pressure is lit. Do you ever use the "More" or "Less" pressure function ? Thank you in advance for being patient with me...😉
I'm new to your site and love the video! I tried the 2/15 timing and the eggs were perfectly cooked. However, the peeling process was a flop, so I'll have to try that again. Hearing your little girl reminds me of when I was a young mom! So fun!
The secret to boiled eggs is to steam,or start in already boiling water. They will be easy peel, and will immediately show if they are cracked. If so, scoop out and return to carton for other use. can't do that in an IP. 4 minutes for soft boiled, 5 min for hard, no matter the number of eggs.
I have had my Instant Pot for about a month and I've been using your Spaghetti Squash recipe, I do little videos for my sisters (acting like I know what I'm doing) and they are amazed! I'm going to amaze them with the eggs next!!! This is fun. You make me look good!
Just tried hard boiled eggs in the Instantpot for the first time. I’m glad I read down into the comments because I didn’t want to possibly have softer eggs…I used 2/18 and they were perfect for me.
I have started pickling eggs, which lets them keep for extra long periods of in time. A sweet pickle brine with jalapeños makes for the most amazing deviled eggs.
I have some pickled eggs in the store room. I might make a few deviled eggs with them to go to the 4th of July celebration this year! Of course I'll still be taking the more traditional fresh boiled ones too.
Thank you for this perfect recipe for boiled eggs. They come out perfect every time! I worry about cholesterol but love the convenience of putting 12 to 18 eggs at a time, it makes me feel so productive.
This works perfectly for my climate. The yolks were yellow and no ring around them. The whites were a totally different texture than the ones I have boiled on the stove, tender. Love this method.💜💜💜
I can't wait to try your method I've tried a couple other ones and they didn't work out very well lol... curious what altitude do you were when you cook that batch? I'm in Florida some very low altitude
I do a similar method. The way I remember it in my Instant Pot is 2 minutes cooking and 10 minutes Lapse time for a soft boiled egg and 3 minutes cooking and 10 minutes lapse time for hard boiled. That's right, just 1 minute more of cooking to get a hard boiled egg. Works wonders.
After 53 years of marriage the perfect boiled egg has eluded me until now!!! Thank you so much. Did exactly what you said except I only boiled 6 eggs. Now I will boil a dozen!

Any difference in time and water using my small Instant pot or larger instant pot?
This was my first "recipe" with my instant pot. Great for beginners
Hey Lisa,
I just bought my Instant Pot about two weeks ago and I have gone crazy making recipes in it.
Thank you in advance for being patient with me...😉
I have the ultra model with the knob on the front and I’m asking the same question. Mine does not show L anything it just has keep warm on or off.
If you do not select "keep warm" the L or lapse time does not count after your done.
@@triadlivemusicscene I did not know about keep warm button having to be pushed to allow the timed pressure release,,
Part of my New Year's resolution was to learn how to use my IP. Did the eggs today - perfect!
I'm new to your site and love the video! I tried the 2/15 timing and the eggs were perfectly cooked. However, the peeling process was a flop, so I'll have to try that again. Hearing your little girl reminds me of when I was a young mom! So fun!
I'm from nevada and I just tried this using 4 eggs and it came out perfect! I just tried again with 12 eggs hopefully they come out good 🤞
Easy peel eggs? In the Instant Pot!? What!? I'm in! Looking forward to the video😊
You won’t believe how easily they peel. Even fresh ones
@@sheilam1918 Great news because my husband loves hard boiled eggs but they're a chore to peel so this is a game changer!
Jillian Bowen it really is. And you dont have to worry you will forget them on the stove as the water boils away and ruins a pan. Haha
@@sheilam1918 LOL! For sure! So funny because I've done that 😁
The secret to boiled eggs is to steam,or start in already boiling water.
Thank you, I did your technique - very nice creamy yolk. I’m new to the pressure cooker. This is a great video.
5/5/5 here in NJ works great with organic brown eggs. Though I’m going to try your method out too!
depends... what exit?
Absolutely adorable and awesome, thank you!
Thank you for this perfect recipe for boiled eggs. They come out perfect every time! I worry about cholesterol but love the convenience of putting 12 to 18 eggs at a time, it makes me feel so productive.
I tried your method yesterday and it worked perfect!
These came out great and peeled so easy!
Unrelated to eggs but I LOVE Bear Lake! I didn’t realize you were local (to me)! Makes me even more excited to see your channel grow!
Works wonders.
great job little one. really good video. thanks for doing all the testing so we don't have to
Perfect Lisa! It worked perfectly! Even your great tip on peeling! Many thanks!!!
This worked great!!! Seriously the best and easiest hard boiled eggs I've ever made!!!
Thank you this has made hard boiled eggs so easy! I smiled big when you said, "Yeh, Baby." and tilted your head.
It works. Period! Thank you so much!
