“Four hands”, or “4-direction tuishou” is a key part of tai chi training. But it is often neglected because of the challenges of teaching it correctly. It can also be difficult to find reliable training partners. This video shows how to practice the basic pattern by yourself. So, you will be more prepared to learn how to do it with a partner.
The video was recorded at the Italian Gardens at Kensington, London during my trip to England.

I have been wanting a video like this for the past month. I am so happy you are the one who posted it. Discovered you about 7 years ago. I really appreciate your teaching style and energy...My arms are dragging lately....😁
Welcome breakdown thankyou its all very well learning multiple forms and weapon routines and entering competions to get points for a visual performance but in my experiance there are only a handful of teachers and students who can fully grasp the importance of this essential drill Thank you for your constructive analysis

I've been practicing push hands for a while, but this was very helpfully articulated. Thank you Ian!
Excellent, explained and demonstrated so well.
If only you could fly to France one day, I'm sure my comrades from Wing Chun would be so glad to learn from your work. Like to see educational videos so rich of content. Thanks a lot for your releases. 🙏
Thank you. I will be in France in June.
