I don't know if Phyllis Hyman knew how beautiful, wonderful & talented she was. It broke our hearts when she allegedly committed suicide in 1995. The World lost one of the best.

Phyllis is a casualty of the Crack Era. She spoke a few times on the Narcotics Anonymous circuit. Her sister grinded everyone up at her funeral, for being fake and pretending she didn't have that problem.

This is my girl! She and I were in an Ebony article back in the day on 6-foot sisters, and my fiance took me to a surprise birthday party for her before her (and his) passing. Check out "Meet Me On The Moon," "You Know How To Love Me," "Can't We Fall In Love Again?" and "The Answer Is You" - you'll thank me. Also, some of her contemporaries like Angela Bofill, Patrice Rushen, Peabo Bryson, Jean Carne and Jeffrey Osborne will expand your family! #WhatUpDoe

She felt that hurt, loneliness and despair every day, and it led her to take her own life in 1995. It was a shame that she didn't feel the love and admiration that we had for her. What a beautiful woman with a beautiful but tortured soul. She is greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. ❤ 😪

When I saw the title I knew you were in for wonderful ride. Your face said it all! Phyllis Hyman was one of those rare and amazing talents that made you feel every word she sang. Gone way to soon. Another singer you'll love is Lisa Fischer. She too will captivate you. Check out the live version of her song How Can I Ease The Pain. What she does with her voice is amazing! You'll definitely feel it!

This live performance is the best way to experience Phyllis Hyman.
If you'll notice as she walked confidently to center stage she towered over everything.

Wonderful reaction to this amazing live performance Ashley, bless you.... I remember the night she tragically died, but the whole album this came from, nearly all the songs on it were like this.. didn't someone back then realise what on earth was going on with poor Phyllis? This performance I feel "was real".. she meant every word she was singing, and most likely "felt" every word she was singing bless her! Thank you for reviewing this ... much love from England. Wonderful channel by the way. xoxo

I really enjoy your genuine reactions to the music and exposing to younger people the amazing music, real singing, and instrument playing of the 70's and 80's. Keep doing what you doing especially when you react to the R & B and Soul music of the 70's and 80's. I think you should react to more Phyllis Hyman music. I believe others have suggested particular ones but I am going to suggest these titles: "You Know How To Love Me", "Obsession", "Old Friend", "Somewhere In My Lifetime", and "The Answer Is You". Let me add that she does a beautiful duet with Michael Henderson titled "Can't We Fall In Love Again". By the way you should react to some of Michael Henderson's music. Some his fantastic song titles are "Valentine Love", "Be My Girl", "In The Night Time", "You Are My Starship", and an amazing duet with Rena Scott titled "Take Me I'm Yours." My name is Jeffrey Lyes and you are exposing an era of music that needs to continue for every age group to enjoy!!!
