Living full-time in my rolling tiny home has been the best decision of my life. Off-Grid living offers a peace and connection to life that you just can't explain. When i first started van life i build a stealth camper van with the mindset the you had to live a stealth van life and i soon discovered that you can just live the city van life and boondock in the countryside and as long as you are respectful of the backcountry and cities you live in. Stealth van life in not necessary. Be proud of the life you choose to live, Share this van life journey with everyone. Remember Tiny Homes and The whole tiny house lifestyle is very popular and #vanlife is no different. When you don't hide it people will come say hi and ask you questions. The world is more curious than hateful. Well......Welcome to my everyday van life adventures. My name is Chrome Valdez and i travel full-time with Cruz the bulldog. Stay weird everyone and thank you for being here.
Have your van with lights on and have Joseph or jeffe bear filming you coming towards them. When you said low beam high beam no difference - that's the problem for a lot of other road users - you blind them!!! I'm all for making upgrades to your van but not to the detriment of other drivers please
Chrome the black thingie has threads adjust backward or foreword to align correctly
Exactly. He really should give that a try!
*Chrome, are you reading this?*
exactly what i was thinking.. just left a comment mentioning the same thing
If it isn't the black thingie, it might be the whatcamacallit! Just turn or shake it a little.
Exactly, the bar on the headlamp with the black plastic piece is threaded. I assume its so you can adjust backwards and forwards for the van.
yup, get headlight alignment to make sure you're not blinding oncoming drivers.
I hope he does. Those things are painful for oncoming drivers if not aligned properly.
Especially for compact cars. Blinding!

Most of the time the only comments that seem to get a response from the content creators are the comments that stroke their ego
All my 5 minute jobs seem to take all day. You're not alone.
Wow a day? My 5 min jobs take from 3 days to never... 😂😣🤣
Nice work. Don't forget to aim your new headlights properly. Don't be one of those dudes blinding people. :) Enjoy
Call Joseph! He seems to know how to work well on those things!
I find when I finally break down in tears for a bit, when l do a final attempt, it unexplainably works that time. It’s the tears, I swear.
Yes, releasing the buildup of un-shed tears seems to relieve pressure and allow the mind freedom to expand...
😉 ✌
align those headlamps. you may be blinding other drivers.
Definitely is with the objects he's lighting up.
Just remember to set them to face down, you have two setting and stop blinding my low car. Lol
True.
He should adjust them (tilt them downwards a bit).
Low Riders suck anyway.
@@Beth-ie You sound like a snow flake Lib. Low riders and their $129 mufflers that wake up the whole block can drive off the highest cliff. Lol
@@doylestatus . . . .I totally agree. I remember when MEN drove trucks.
Snowflake millennials drive little cars, cry about those big nasty truck headlights whilst wearing their sisters jeans.
see the threads on there? it's adjustable...adjust the fitting outward.
My thoughts as well
i was thinking the same thing
Yes absolutely
It is a little finicky on these
Loosed that nut and it will fit its adjustable for that reason.
He responded to my comment
LED lights may 'look' great and give brighter light for the driver, but unfortunately, they are awfully blinding to oncoming drivers.
Yer people don't care about others, as long as it's better for them which is a shame
I agree
I feel like everybody is blinding me ... might be my age, but I don't know.
@@annecaulder9495 I have the same problem, so I rarely drive at night anymore.
All new vechicles seem to have brighter headlights then they use to aa well .
I find getting frustrated durning a simple tasks just blocks my ability to trouble-shoot. When that happens, I go get some pie & coffee, and give myself a break. When I return to the task I have the clarity to get it done. Works every time 🎈
Looks like u might just to have to adjust screw that piece where the metal isn't catching down. There is a threaded rod under neath it.
Reply was referring to Geri. Intended to fall underneath that post.
Haha the gloves are to prevent touching the bulb with your bare hands... Not as work gloves
I learned the hard way what touching a halogen bulb with my bares hand does about 20 years...
@@straightouttacresva448 and no patience
The excitement he has for the lights it’s just beautiful it’s just the simple things in life I wish I can ever be excited like that for anything
Can u unscrew the screw/nut on the light a turn to let the slider go between the nut and the back of the light?
ATTN, let me help a little! The plastic piece turns on the threaded rod, turn it a 1/4 turn or so until the rod locks the light bucket in, It drove me NUTS until I figured it out, I experienced you`re frustration! Those adjust you`re height and alignment too!
Hey Chrome! We had the exact same issue with our headlight install and even the driver’s side. Pull that rail all the way out that’s giving you fits and bend it back straight again. Once we did that, it went right back where it should.
Now you will be one of those oncoming vehicles that blind everyone and people curse
I suffer from night blindness they really jack me up.
I learned the hard way that you're not supposed to touch the lightbulb one set later 🤦
I was cringing when I saw him pet Cruz and touch all those things with those gloves on. Lol. But I figure that he can use the second pair that comes with the other light. Can’t lie, I was yelling at him when he was doing that! But it’s the mom in me.
One recommendation go to a some who has an headlight alignment board
And hopefully sooner than later. LEDs in reflector housings are sketchy as it is but it looks like he could get away with just aiming them down a bit.
I was about to write the same, the van shoot way light too much on the side
I had the same issue last August and purchased new housings and LEDS. What the manufacturer didn’t tell me is that I had to use the Alan wrench provided to set the bulb at 12 o’clock and 6 o’clock with high beam on the bottom. I was blinding on coming traffic with the bulb sitting at 10 o’clock and 4 o’clock for about a month after self installation. Plus I had to order (free of charge) an in line error decoder harness to prevent light flickering in park or when I turned my blinkers on. Finally got them fine tuned and tilted down enough so I wasn’t blinding anyone coming at me. Now I don’t care for them anymore, because with them set properly, the spread and distance of light is no longer 😡
Thanks for blining everyone in front of you chrome
He just needs to tilt them downwards few degrees.
(I think that will help preventing blinding other drivers).
Please be that considerate driver you talk about and don't have them shining in the on coming traffic, they are blinding.
the white gloves look really nice. kind of gets one in the mood and keeps the hands so clean - wish all companies would give them. great for petting the dog too etc
🤣🤣🤣 that’s not to keep hands clean it’s so he doesn’t put his oils on the light
Never miss a vid. Thanks Chrome, mabye one day we'll cross paths. I've been buying supplies for my van build for the last 6 months, I did purchase a van, but its miled out. Was gonna buy another, but it fell through on my end. So now I just gotta save my pennies, and wait for just the right van. Break downs are not something I want to worry about. You are super inspirational, and because of you, i'll soon be living my best life. Thanks again Chrome, I love your home buddy!
LED and HID are the best way to go - Love Mine. Suggestion, if you can take the old bracket from the old light where it's not locking and switch them out as the old one worked - Just an idea
It may be too bright and glaring for cars coming from the opposite direction. Can be dangerous...
They make off road head lights that are for off road use only, hope he didn't buy the wrong one's.. love your commitment to making videos every day, its fun for all of us..be safe
I feel your pain! Same. But we did the same for our van. What a difference ❤️❤️ Finally, I can tell Hubby...“Chrome finally changed his lights” ❤️
Looks amazing.
Hang in there it may be the day. We alk have those types of day.. I think Cruz was getting tired or he just got up from nap.. Cruz loves you no matter what so do we from Wisconsin
Cruz wants his greenie bone now :)
I currently have a situation changing out rear signal light (just the bulbs) on my suburban. Should have been easy even for me according to a UA-cam video I watched earlier. The back doors are jamming and the plate has rusted screws I don't have the tools for just to name a few of the issues. I'm currently sipping my coffee and scheduling a date with my mechanic. 😉
I have patience of a saint but sometimes the easiest of tasks will turn me into hulk 😂 Chrome we could hear you cursing all the way in the states!
Thought it was only me hearing him cursing 🤣
I heard it too!! Lol!

Hay chrome michael here aka Running Bair, it looks like that little knob with the groove in it is threaded. Try and turn the knob counterclock wise. Witch will move that knob out.keep turning it out until it works I believe it will solve the problem. Hope it works for you.
Jason from Maryland here.
Chrome, and everyone else...listen up, do what I did with my plastic housings.... Once you buy new ones, go to a local window tint shop, AND HAVE THEM WRAPPED IN CLEAR FILM!!!
they will NEVER YELLOW AGAIN!!!
CHEERS 🍻
Earlier this week I struggled with the exact same lamp assembly and a few tweaks with my dremel tool was necessary. The slide latch liked the ramp I provided on the plastic piece. I tried the 25 foot method for adjustment for a baseline but really it was all about just parking a ways behind another car and adjusting them until it didn’t shine in the window of the car about a 100feet ahead. And the side to side adjustment was pretty much set from the 25 foot baseline, but I did tweak that a bit too. I’m so glad up through 2007 we have these cheap headlamp assemblies and each year the LED bulbs are probably getting better.
There's always trying again tomorrow.. or like you said pay someone to do it. Blessings brother 🙏
Chrome, one tip for the future. The gloves that came with the light are used only to prevent the oil and dirt on your hands from getting on the light itself. The light will not last as long if oil or dirt get on it. So only put the gloves on when you are ready to pick up the light bulb and connect it. I learned this the hardway! I had to buy new lights after 3 or 4 months!
my son just installed new headlight fixtures (and led bulbs) on my e 150. he's a mechanic and had the same problem getting the new ones to seat in properly. finally done, but not without a lot of frustration (and some colorful language on his part).
A trip to a garage to get that left light secured more thoroughly, otherwise some very cold day and your left light crash’s into the street and burst!
The real failure is not trying. You ain't failed my friend. You'll figure things out 💜
Cruz always steals the show....he’s so darn cute. 🥰
Failure to read the instructions.
*BINGO*
Those led lights are an absolute game changer. One love from beautiful Trinidad and Tobago ❤️👍🏼👊🏼👊🏼🇹🇹.
An important video, "not everything is as easy as it seems and I'll show you how/why". Doesn't mean that you are giving up van life. Thanks for posting it.
The clear lens was worth it.
Fine. I will figure it out myself. Says me when I have a problem & before I give up to either go to have the issue dealt with or ignore it. My vehicle problem as of six days ago is not being able to open my driver's side door from the inside. Time to stop ignoring it. Thanks Chrome.
you're headlights are awesome for you, you are blinding other people with them. They need to be aligned properly, yours are pointing right in peoples eyes.
However this is a common issue that basically nobody fixes, the majority of people with those bulbs don't align them properly making them a nuisance
Haha a child with his new toy. I love the video.
Chrome billet grill next! Would look sweet! I totally love my led headlight in my e150!
I literally wear my sunglasses at night when I'm traveling on the highways because the headlights are SO bright. However, I also have the same dim lights on my E350 and have considered buying the LEDs 🙄😎
You well get it done ,hang in there .Thank you always enjoy watching your adventure stay safe 🇵🇷
just need to unscreew the piece on the bottom of light it not going in far enough to catch.I had the same problem.
Van life project, home projects....same thing right? We feel your pain....we can't get a bathroom door handle to go in correctly! Love you, love Cruz, Love the channel! Take care!
Google how to align headlights. Its easy.
Park up against a wall a certain distance away and adjust aim of headlight to a certain height off the ground.
Easy peasy.
As we get older we need brighter lights. When I was a kid I could ride my bike through the woods at night with no lights at all 😎
Use off bug spray to clean off the yellow stain on
Light covers on your car lights. It works awesome. Like new
RAIN HITTING THAT METAL ROOF AT NIGHT 💙❣💙 RELAXING, WONDERFUL!!!
THANKS FOR AN AWESOME VIDEO 😊
Awesome story telling Chrome, you are indeed the Jedi Master - love your voice-over narration. You definitely have earned your Subs, views, and engagement... all coming through your heart and soul. Peace and happy trails, Bro.
I bought these ones for my e250 from amazon for $40, leds in the sealed plastic box, the right shape but plastic rather than glass like the old ones. All I had to do was unscrew a few screws and unplug the old glass box and plug in the new one. I did it all from the outside. Didn’t have to pop the hood. Used a dab of dielectric grease. Have used over a month now. Works great.
I just put led lights on my van and like you I’m so amazed how much safer I feel now that I can see more and at a greater distance just means that I have more time to react than before anyways keep on keeping on!
And everyone else is unable to react because you have blinded them with your LEDs but hey as long as your safe who cares about other people...
The metal bar isn’t bent - it looks fine. It’s the adjustment on the rod which needs attention, so it aligns better with the metal bar.
Great thinking & Job Chrome. Wow, it sure made a lot of difference while you were driving. Bright lights. Great video as well. We loved your giggles and lighter. We sure found a fantastic video entertaining channel on VANCITY VANLIFE. YAY😀👍🏽
ShouId've made sure that the new headlight casing adjusters matched the old ones as closely as possible, then you'd likely have got it to fit better/easier :)
Don't forget to get them properly adjusted so as to not dazzle oncoming drivers, because low beam certainly looks higher than it should be.
Somebody has mentioned it before me...but the tab you are having issues with may need to be straightened a little more....and the nut or whatever is on the back if the head light may need to be adjusted (tighten or loosen) to align up with the tab that locks into it. Adjustments like this can be a normal thing when switching parts out. I'm sure the headlights will be out of alignment which might be a problem to on coming traffic....so you'll want to fix that....it's pretty easy as well, just google it.. 🤙
I don't have the patience for learning how to do thaT kind of stuff, so I go to a mechanic. BTW, you look real nice in your purple shirt!
Hey Chrome! May I suggest you bend the lock bar first then if that fails remove the lower left bolts and screw and change it out with the new one. The old one locks right? Cheers from Vancouver eh!
Really cool...so rad!! Hey Cruzie...help your dad!! Stay dry, warm and safe!!
The black knob on the back of the lens assembly looks adjustable. It's on a threaded shaft. Try twisting it in or out a bit to catch the metal retainer's saddle.
Best part of my day .......when I click on your videos 😀
no true reward if there's no challenge, your on point about the bracket, I'm cheering for you.
I flexed and vowed a little my spring flat bar towards the plug and got it to lock, I was told to loosen it he alignment all the way out but didn’t want to mess with it.
Did mine too and they are amazing glad you changed them because makes yr home look really nice 👌
I like you chrome but those lights aren't alligned and they're blinding everyone. It's not safer if you have people coming towards you being blinded.
Yes.
complete the look with a full led swap. taillights, side markers, reverse lights. They sell complete led tail light units for the econoline or you could just do red led bulbs in the rear. You'll more than likely need an led flasher fuse though so you don't have hyper flash. This will maintain your normal flashing speed when using turn signals seeing how leds have less of a draw than halogen bulbs.
Just had a similar issue. Needed to replace my sealed beam headlights, but the mounting screws were so badly rusted that I couldn't get them out with the tools I had. Ended up having to go to a shop where they ended up having to drill then out. A day later a crack developed in my radiator. Again had to go to a shop because of severely rusted bolts. Now over the course of three days I've got new headlights, radiator, upper and lower radiator hoses, and thermostat. Plus a new 200Ah Renogy AGM battery and 1000w Renogy pure sine wave inverter from Monday.
Chrome, on the last video when you was in transition building your van I send a suggestion to you about replacing your headlights and change them to led. They look nice and bright now. 😊
Hang in there buttercup you will figure it out. You always do!
Hugs to you and CruZ!
MommaFaye 🌺
The long rod sticking upwards is the adjustment screw, turn that and you will see the mechanism moving away from the headlight. This will give you the extra length to reach the locking clip "sheet metal" hope this helps.. You will need to get your headlights focused after both are installed
Man i just put in some of my awesome place to buy LED light in my 1995 f250...form HR..Best place to buy them for sure....Awesome to see you so excited...Nice to see the road and everything....Bummer you got so frustrated..I would say im pretty calm, But things can get to me...Fun times
Thanks for this Chrome. I just did an Arizona trip with my old lights which seemed like driving by candlelight.
Chrome all you need on that bad boy is a nice Ram bar I promise you’ll love give it a meaner look plus it’ll help in case of an accident love from the US
I know the feeling when you said "and just smash them to pieces" but glad you didn't.
Just remember led lights won’t melt ice or snow so you might want to save your old bulbs for winter.
Oh! A really interesting (and important) point!
@se fi Do you want to stop every mile and brush your headlights off while you're driving in a snow storm?
@se fi There can be drip down, then freezing on the headlights. In a snowstorm, headlights on for others to see you, and they can even through snow. But if you're driving at night in a heavy snowstorm, stop. Just don't do it. ☮️🚐🐶❤️
That's what duck tape is for. Lol 😆 looks great tho what a huge change.
I think I need to change my lights on my suv. Seeing the difference in what I can see I know it would be wise. Night photography has it's challenges, getting to were I go would be so much simpler. Thank you. A lot of us get just as frustrated as you and some even surpass it. You just showed us that we are human and not perfect by any means
Love my LEDS ON MY 2004 Yukon
ALL i CAN SAY IS THIS Have you ever had a vehicle with led headlights behind you...????? Especially if it's a truck or higher vehicle. it literally BLINDS you !! When the led reflects in your side or rear view mirrors it BLINDS you !! It's ridiculous !! For the person using them I am sure it's great but they are SOOOO bright that I have to adjust my mirrors just so I'm NOT blinded !!! Each to their own but I have flashed my high beams more than once at someone with led lights thinking they were running high beams...NOT the case !!! just the regular beam from led lights coming at you or approaching from behind is WAY TOO BRIGHT !!! BTW....I'm not just being a dick because whenever someone rides with me and I point it out they always ALWAYS agree with me....unless they have already pointed it out. My " factory headlights " are perfectly fine. And I live in a rural area with little to no street lights.

Hi Chrome, I think you just need to slightly pull that locking latch up while pushing the headlight into the hole, it looked like the latch was down to far for the headlight to go through the hole. Cheers man. They look great.
👍👍👍👍👍 thanks for the mug, I love it
Those are awesome! Maybe have Joseph help you align them, so that you don't blind oncoming cars.
Chrome you did an awesome job with your van and your video.
Many here will advise you on your install and I’m not one of them.
I appreciate your journey and proud of ya!
Blessings to ya and hope you have a great day today!

If you actually spray bug spray on the lens and wipe it off it works great. And no buffing needed
They look so much better. I was thinking of changing the bulbs on my car but I know for a fact one side is almost impossible to get too. I’d be frustrated as well.
Had the same van at work had to tread the adjuster for the lite out to get it to go in more of the hole
Try lifting the lock mechanism as you push the headlight assembly into the small hole. It looks like it rests to low, closing off the hole. By holding it up ,you may be able to find the sweet spot . You probably tried that though
use the aduster to wind the fitting out on threads
I am glad you did it, I did mine within 6 months of buying my van!
For the headlight Twist that black nut back a few turns give you more room to lock it in place then once you find the spot where it fits just keep taking in out and turning it back to tighten it till it's just a bit harder to put in
My son put LEDs on my truck & I love them!
